Dick Cheney calls tea party a boon to GOP
The Washington Times ^ | 10-21-2013 | Cheryl K. Chumley

Posted on 10/21/2013 9:41:00 AM PDT by sheikdetailfeather

Countering many of his Republican colleagues, former Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday the tea party is actually a positive movement for the GOP.

“It’s an uprising, in part, and the good thing is it’s taken place within the Republican Party,” he said on NBC’s “Today.” “I don’t see it as a negative. I think it’s much better to have that kind of ferment and turmoil and change in the Republican Party than it would be to have it outside.”

Mr. Cheney said that if it wasn’t for the tea party, his daughter, Liz, might not be seeking to unseat Wyoming Sen. Mike Enzi. Her campaign was “partly motivated” by concerns expressed by tea party members who decry high taxes, high national debt and the looming financial obligations from Obamacare.

Mr. Cheney said he admired the tea party for fighting the good fight.

“I’m not a card-carrying member [of the tea party] — I don’t know if there is a card — but I’ve got a lot of respect for what the people are doing,” he said. “These are Americans. They’re loyal, they’re patriotic, they’re taxpayers and they’re fed up with what they see happening in Washington.”

Mr. Cheney said he didn’t blame the tea party for causing an unrepairable schism within the Republican Party.

Maybe he’s coming around, because the last couple of years he’s sounded like one of the Ruling Class elite.

Let's not go there.

Cheney most likely realizes that the present Repub establishment, including all RINOs, has a finite political lifetime. IMHO, a conservative party is going to take its place in one form or another. The eRepubs KNOW that their conservative base is fading and very upset with what they call “leadership”, led by the cowards of Congress, and is facing replacement.

Whose voice is next ??

If it were not for the Cheney name in Wyoming ...

Otherwise, why isn't she using her married name?

Otherwise, why isn't she running the state where she* and her husband live?

==

* She resided in Virginia until she decided to run for the Senate -- in Wyomning. Her Wyoming residence only began last fall. Is she legally separated or divorced?

He is right. Wish he would tell his daughter to run for Senate in a Democrat state.

.... So ..... trying to uphold and protect the Constitution of the United States is a bad thing?

..... I don't think most people out there actually know who the Tea Party is and what they stand for!!!! The only information that most people in the electorate gets is what is spewed out by the MSM and therefore don't even have a clue that the Tea Party is the only defense at this time that the Constitution really has. The courts, system, and elected representatives have failed us.

.... The Tea Party is the last bastion of hope and only ones to rise at this dire time of need to stand in the breach to protect what is left of the Constitution.

The T.E.A. party people are a resource the Establishment Republican people will just not use, and it is to their greater detriment they choose not to.

The Establishment party has NO dedicated, enthusiastic corps of diligent door-to-door activists, either as paid or volunteer members. They have no way to counter the inroads of the Current Regime now squatting in the White Hut (or “Spite” Hut), nor could they recruit a similar army using their current tactics.

The T.E.A. party people are motivated, they will take the time, and in many instances, they will use their own resources to cover their expenses and time. Their message is short and clear - we are ALL “taxed enough already”, and any scheme that raises or imposes new taxes is already their primary target.

It is almost as if the Establishment Republicans despise the idea of winning on the merits of their rhetoric. Might “offend” somebody.

Well, a LARGE minority who would take offense should be made ashamed of themselves. Nobody would tolerate this kind of behavior for more than a few minutes from a prepubescent child, yet in the name of “manners”, all kinds of atrocities and calumnies are overlooked.

Many thanks to Dick Cheney - he understands. God bless him...
