Exclusive: Obama Inspires GOP Congressman to Drop Immigration Reform
Breitbart ^ | 21 Oct 2013 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 10/21/2013 3:23:31 PM PDT by george76

GOP Congressman no longer open to immigration deal, citing Obama's winner-take-all approach to governance.

Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX), the vice chairman of the House Judiciary Committee’s subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security, has changed his mind and now opposes any efforts to grant amnesty to America’s at least 11 million illegal immigrants. Poe said his stance is a specifically a result of President Barack Obama’s style of dealing with congressional Republicans during the recent government shutdown and debt ceiling battles.

"The President has proven over the last few weeks that ‘negotiating’ means conservatives must give in and that it's his way or no way,” Poe said in an email to Breitbart News. “In his opinion, there is no compromise, just intimidation with inflammatory rhetoric. The President is putting his political agenda ahead of what's best for America."

"He wants to do what's best for his legacy," the Congressman said of the President. "Conservatives want to do what's best for our nation."

...

Poe becomes the latest conservative Republican to go back to being an immigration hardliner and, like the others, he claims it is because of President Obama’s demonstrated refusal to negotiate.

Seriesly, why don’t they start the piecemeal approach NOW?

‘’’’’’’’’’’\
Anything that goes to conference committee even if piecemeal will have all kinds of crap loaded into it by the senate dems.

so the favored approach now is nothing moves at all vis a vis amnesty.

I think these guys wanted a way out.

I was worried Schumer and Rubio would push amnesty lite.

Leadership wanted a scrappy big talking tough guy like Gowdy to push amensty lite. They had the inspirational hispanic Raul. They had the straight talking Texan Poe. Goodlatte seemed concerned that even the NRO doesnt like him.

Now they got a couple of nerds in Ryan and Cantor. There is a lot of crossover between the ones who want to bomb Syria as well.

Cruz and Steve King are hunting pheasant this weekend.

I agree. I am suspicious of such a claim. While I don’t disagree with his characterization of Obama I would rather hear his opinion about the particular legislation. If this is the best reason he has then I figure he is positioning for plausible deniability in some fashion or another.

Be a lot easier if they just enforced the immigration laws we have now...after all as per Obama care,,,,a law is a law, and must not be changed

The business as usual politicians are running scared.

We can trace their campaign contributions back toe pro-amnesty groups and to leadership PAC’s like those of Boehner and Cantor.

That will give away regardless of their voting records or public statements where the Republicans in Congress really stand.

They have to look as conservative as possible.

All but a few need to be replaced because all but a few are on the take.

My GOP congressman had Boehner in for a fundraiser a few months ago. I know where he stands regardless of votes or voting record.

He is up for re-election like all House members. He can smell which side the voters are on. While glad he won’t vote for amnesty, I don’t care for his reasoning.

What if Obama ever got his 11 million invaders legalized, made citizens, and signed up for Obamacare at the same time? Just sayin’....

Despite what all these articles say, the plan to legalize the at least “11 million” always includes a plan to let at least 33 million more in.

Here's the deal. If you like what Healthcare.gov does for ObamaCare, you're gonna LOVE the piece of Obamaware being cooked up to handle Immigration Reform.

Presenting ... ELIS

(sorry, couldn't find a better and more recent article on it)

From the article: "The original five-year, $536,000 plan for “Transformation” has grown into a potentially two-decade effort that, officials told Nextgov, could cost more than $3 billion if not stopped. "

A pathway to amnesty is a pathway to the death of the GOP. Don’t go down that pathway GOP.

> “so the favored approach now is nothing moves at all vis a vis amnesty.”

Nothing moves until conservatives control Congress and the White House.

Because there are indeed many things wrong with immigration law especially legacy parts from Ted Kennedy’s 1965 chain immigration.

But timing is everything and right now timing is off.

Republicans should be united in their replies to questions about couched amnesty, “millions of American workers remain on unemployment and are desperately looking for jobs. This is not a smart time to add over 10 million more job seekers to the pool of unemployed Americans.”

So did they really find their balls, do they REALLY know who they’re dealing with FINALLY after 5+ years???!!?? Or is this another prelude to the surrender dance?

I've heard great things about Texas from FReepers, evidently it ain't too great after all if one of their own Congressmen supported amnesty.........
