Pro phony marriage people had their rally today. If you can't make it call your legislators.

Illinois Ping List, PING!

Make certain if you can’t go that you and everyone on your list calls their legislators.

You or they can look up their officials here: https://www.votervoice.net/ILFI/Address

This is a big one and if we can turn back SSM in Illinois we’ll have won a lot. They’ve got all the legal protections they need via civil unions. There’s been no rush into civil unions by sufferers of SSA. So that was a ruse as well.

Good luck and God bless.

Good luck with your rally day.

I have participated in Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day for the last 5 years of so. Our side would have 8000+ people show up on a blustery day in March. The other side would have twenty people show up.

We didn't get what we wanted until we won in court.

The didn't heed us at all, most of them. I suspect the same will happen here.

I was at the Defend Marriage Day back in February. I couldn't make this one (well, I supposed I could if I wanted to take the bus from Tinley Park at 6am) but I'll do my part and bump this thread.

I heard the "marriage equality" people got rained on during their rally yesterday. Surprisingly, I didn't see any media coverage of their event. I know they will ignore ours.

I'll probably give my RAT state legislator another call just to remind her I'm against it (I spoke to her in person about it in Feb.) She claims to be "on the fence" but will vote however Madigan tells her to. The real reason they can't pass it is because so many black RAT legislators are against it, and they're in "safe" districts and the "marriage equality" people can't primary them with a pro-gay marriage RAT in black neighborhoods.

The new House GOP leader, Jim Durkin, said he didn't think they'd call gay marriage for a vote in the fall. Do you think it's just an ideal threat from the RATs to make us think the fight is over and we should surrender? Or they have some backroom plan here to pass this crap?

Quinn is desperate for this bill. He needs something and he’s sincere in wanting this. Does he lose every black Dem that votes for it? I suspect those “hold outs” are giving cover to other Dems as well.

The bill doesn’t die until January 2015. Then I think it’s dead for a long time.

Ideally and in reality, we need to support civil unions for same sex couples. That gives us political cover, resolves the very real Constitutional issues that a judge might use to force the issue, and protects traditional, real marriage.
