Above and beyond these ratings...which are interesting but of limited use...is what these clowns do, or don’t do, say or don’t say, that injure our cause. For example, the real damage from McCain and Graham is far beyond their voting record...it’s their media record.

That, and the fact that all issues are weighted equally in these surveys, make them of somewhat limited use....

Paul, Cruz and Lee are by far the most conservative. The others are far behind.

I created this average because I was sick of hearing “conservative” senators touting their 92% ACU lifetime rating, etc. I wanted a real way to tell who was conservative and who was not, based on how they voted LATELY, not when they first got there.

So now we can compare senators against each other and against the various rating agencies. It’s just a tool.

Oh I agree...and sorry if it came across negative...what you’ve done is a nice take on their old rating system and I love the thought process you used. The old guard does hide behind “lifetime” ratings....that often are not reflective of today’s reality...so I congratulate you.

BTW, thinking of that, I should resurrect the C Edmund Wright GIVE A DAMN index...it was something I constructed in early 09 based on the Rasmussen and RCP Averages......

No offense taken. We’re all doing what we can in different ways to hold some of these worthless politicians accountable.

There are some real stinkers on this list. Hoeven from North Dakota is rating at 43%. That is a disgrace. Even Fischer from Nebraska (who got help from Palin and the Tea party) has a low rating. Just goes to show you that many of these Pols run as conservatives and govern as liberals.

I know. I was very surprised when I saw Fischer’s rating. I’ll see if it goes up when I update the numbers. But she’s obviously cast some bad votes.

I’m not certain how ACU comes up with their rating but they no longer qualify as a “conservative” group, they are merely living on what used to pass for “conservative” in Washington (like Geo. Will, Karl Rove, Grover Norquist and David Brooks!)

ACU is definitely an outlier, but you’ll not that a number of “conservative” politicians use their lifetime ACU ratings to tout their conservatisim. Just looking at the numbers they appear to be protecting moderates, but when compared to the other rating agencies, the sham is revealed.

Thanks for also providing the non ACU ratings....as the ACU supports Illegal Alien Amnesty and their ratings give all Amnesty supporters high marks. Illegal Alien Amnesty is definitely not Conservative

“Thanks for also providing the non ACU ratings”

Your welcome. Somebody suggested I do that a while back. And it’s very telling that without ACU, the averages of many senators drops significantly. Their 100% rating of McConnell and their 92% rating of Graham is what sparked me to create the average in the first place, because they were so obviously a sham. And what exactly is the purpose of a “lifetime rating” anyway except to give conservative cover to politicians. I couldn’t care less how you voted ten or twenty years ago. How did you vote last year and this year??

Perspective is a very important thing. As depressing as things look in the present U.S. Senate, consider the following ....

Excluding Chiesa (NJ) and murKOWski (AK), there are 44 current GOP Senators. Of these, 19 ... The Nineteen:

Shelby(AL)-2016; Sessions (AL)-2014; Crapo (ID)-2016; Cruz (TX)-2018; Enzi (MT)-2014; Grassley (IA)-2016; Heller (NV)-2018; Inhofe (OK)-2014; Lee(UT)-2016; Moran(KS)-2016; Paul (KY)-2016; Portman (OH)-2016; Risch(ID)-2014; Roberts(KS)-2014; Rubio (FL)-2016; Scott (SC)-2016; Toomey (PA)-2016; Vitter (LA)-2016 ... held firm and voted against 0bamacare cloture. Take your shots at some of them, but this was the right vote at a critical time.

Of the remaining 25, 8 are up for re-election in 2014 and 7 of those are in conservative states (excl. Collins(ME)).

The Twenty-Five

2014: (8)

Alexander(TN); Chambliss (GA); McConnell (KY); Cochran (MS); Johanns (NB); Graham (SC); Cornyn (TX); Collins (ME);

2016: (11)

McCain (AZ); Boozman (AR); Isakson (GA); Coats (IN); Blunt (MO); Ayotte (NH); Burr (NC); Hoeven (ND); Coburn (OK); Thune (SD); Kirk (IL)

2018: (6)

Flake (AZ); Wicker (MS); Fischer (NB); Corker (TN); Hatch (UT); Barrasso (WY)

Now, add to these 7 running next year, the fact that there are as many as 12 vulnerable DemocRAT Senate seats up for grabs in 2014:

Begich (AK); Pryor (AR); Udall (CO); Harkin (IA); Landrieu (LA); Levin (MI); Baucus (MT); Udall (NM); Hagan (NC); Johnson (SD); Warner (VA); Rockefeller (WV)

Ergo, of those who voted FOR CLOTURE on 0bamacare, there are potentially 19 NEW seats to add to the courageous nineteen who joined Ted Cruz. Even if conservatives replaced only half of these seats, that would make for a winning coalition where Senate Majority Leader Cruz would relegate McQueeg and his has-been cronies to the back bench where they belong.
