MILLINGTON, TN - (WMC-TV) - It is confirmed that at least two people have been shot near the Millington Navy Base. Both victims are reported to be in non-critical condition.
The base is currently on lock down, but the shooter is in custody.
Photos sent in to Action News 5 show crime scene tape and several medics on the scene.
The U.S. Navy put out the following tweet to its Twitter account:
#BREAKING: #USNavy can confirm incident near Naval Support Activity Midsouth in #Millington. Details to follow.
Action News 5 has crews on its way. Stay with WMCTV.COM for the very latest information.
But, it’s a Gun Free Zone!!!!!
Which reminds me, aren’t all of our congress critters getting on two jets to Florida to attend a funeral today?
How many more to die or get wounded before we let them arm themselves?
Not to mention sailors denied access to loaded firearms.
I’m still guessing white guy, not Moslem, even if lately things have not been the norm.
Someone get in another fight over a stripper at the Brass Rail?
As opposed to release of the most minute details almost prior to the shooting, as the Enemedia releases the pre-written "news" of wag-the-dog crisis generation and headline choreography.
Local Memphis news reports indicate this one really is workplace violence; a disciplined worker going out and getting his gun, then going postal.
Wonder how long it will be before we allow our Armed Forces to be armed at their bases?
how many acts have we seen in these last 5 years?
Terrorist attacks, lone gunmen , WTH.
Victims are ok. No word yet on the perp...
According to Fox’ Shep Smith, 2 people injured-—one person shot in foot; another person shot in leg. Shooter used a small handgun.
Shooter, according to Fox source, had just received some discipline, “maybe” had just been fired (another source: “relieved of duty”), went to his car, and retrieved a small handgun.
Shooter in custody.
Perp in custody and a Navy recruiter to boot... was releaved of duty and went to car and got his gun. This was in the thread just above this one.
Apparently a national guardsman opened fire after being disciplined/relieved of duty.
Shooter was tackled and subdued by other guardsmen.
One wonders how many more he would have shot if he hadn’t been rushed by others.
I can also wonder how many would NOT have been shot if those others were armed.
More of what Obama calls “Workplace Violence” but Americans call Terrorism.
