US Naval Base On Lockdown 'After Shots Fired' 7:17pm UK, Thursday 24 October 2013
Several people have been shot near a US Naval base in Tennessee, according to local media reports.
The Navy confirmed a shooting took place near Naval Support Activity Midsouth in Willington, north of Memphis, but has not provided additional details.
The Navy said the base had been placed on lockdown.
WHBQ-TV in Memphis reported a shooter was in custody.
Police told the station they suspect the alleged gunman was an employee relieved of duty who opened fire after returning to their vehicle.

That should actually be Millington”
It was originally a Naval Air Station
Another report said the shooter is in custody and it was a recruiting center.
That makes some logical sense, but likely politically located.
btw... a few years back, flooding at Millington caused the Navy’s computer network to lose vast amounts of data, and/or make that data and resources unavailable for several months....
the Navy’s shore IT systems are an expensive joke.

That’s funny. That’s what most people assume. Los Angeles Air Force Base in California does not have a runway.
Upon additional (extremely) limited investigation, this location seems like a good place to test cruise missile launches against Mecca and Medina (and Qom).

My father in law was a Protestant chaplain there for 3 years in the late 1970’s. IIRC, it was a naval air station then, and they did pilot training, and had several technical schools on the base.
There’s some sort of Navy LORAN(?) facility in central northern Montana near Havre. Dry farming/ranching out there.
