You know what's relatively easy? Fixing a website. You know what's really hard? Ensuring access to affordable, quality health insurance for every single American and improving our broken health care system in the process. In the back-and-forth about the Obamacare exchange websites, let's not lose sight of the ultimate goal of health care reform -- a goal that, even with the exchanges problems, we are steadily achieving.
Less than 17 days into the signup period, the State of Oregon had already enrolled 56,000 people under the Medicaid expansion in Obamacare -- and reduced the state's percentage of uninsured by 10%. In New York, over 150,000 people have signed up for a private insurance plan through the state's exchange website -- including, by the way, me. In Kentucky, a state that has more than 640,000 residents without health insurance, the state insurance exchange is signing up 1,000 people per day, "a great rate and a great success so far" says Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear.
In Washington State, 31,000 people have enrolled in Medicaid coverage, 4,500 have enrolled in private health plans and an additional 56,000 state residents have completed applications. Other states, especially those that worked to implement their own insurance exchanges and expand Medicaid under the health reform law, are seeing similar success -- contrasted with those states that have, mainly for ideological reasons, sabotaged implementation.

Will CNN rewrite the code?
I stopped reading at “CNN Opinion”.
Keep on polishing that turd...
Sorry this twit is delusional
Trust them, they say. Everything will be just fiiiine
... while at the same time we're receiving letters from our insurers canceling our policies, and finding out plans now available are 1x 2x and 3x more expensive.
If we're not having our hours cut or being laid off, that is.
I love to see how much government will have to spend to subsidize everyone. Deficit will be huge. The more people sign up the higher the deficit will be. $1 trillion per year wasn’t big enough?
I have never seen a wrecking ball or a firing squad fix anything.
In the beginning there was the plan, and then came the assumptions.
The plan was completely without substance, and darkness was upon the faces of the workers.
They spoke among themselves saying, It is a crock of shit, and it stinketh!
Then the workers went unto their supervisors and sayeth, It is a pail of dung and none may abide the odor thereof.
The supervisors then went unto their managers and sayeth unto them, It is a container of excrement and it is very strong; such that none may abide it.
And the managers went unto their directors and sayeth, It is a vessel of fertilizer and none may abide its strength.
The directors went unto the Vice Presidents and sayeth unto them, It promotes growth and is very powerful.
And the Vice Presidents went unto the President and sayeth unto him, This new plan will actively promote the growth and efficiency of this company and these areas in particular.
And the President looked upon the plan and saw that it was good and the plan became policy. And that is how shit happens.
Isn’t Sally Kohn the Lesbian from FOX??? I PRAY he/she’s at CNN now.....I would turn off the TV when she cam on FOX.
And the propaganda machine is going into full operation!
This is about making the healthy pay for those who have pre-conditions.
I have no doubt that obamacare will do everything it was supposed to do. And do it well.
Medicaid is not Obamacare insurance, it is welfare designed for the poor.
“sabotaged implementation” ?!?
The states accepted the provisions of the law that they were free to choose under the law itself. And how is that sabotage? My My the excessive language speaks of desparation.
CNN = puckered to Soetoro’s behind.
Patience, patience........... all you need is patience, it will all work out in the long run.
In the long run we are all dead.
From the article:
“Less than 17 days into the signup period, the State of Oregon had already enrolled 56,000 people under the Medicaid expansion in Obamacare — and reduced the state’s percentage of uninsured by 10%.”
But according to this site:
Still no ObamaCare enrollments through Oregons exchange
Officials for Oregon’s health insurance exchange on Thursday reported some progress, but acknowledged a major fix to the problem-plagued site may not happen this month as hoped. The website still has not enrolled anyone.
Spokesman Michael Cox said that timeline is now a goal, rather than an expectation. “We’re not going to rush out a system that we are not satisfied with.”
The latest update on timing of the fix — arguably the biggest facing coveroregon.com — comes after the site initially was supposed to let consumers enroll themselves beginning Oct. 1. That was changed to letting only insurance agents and application assisters enroll people through the site. Then the state announced that plan, too, would be postponed, but that the problem preventing agents from enrolling clients likely would be fixed by the end of October.
As of Wednesday, Cover Oregon has processed 34 paper applications to determine if people were eligible for financial assistance. These applications were not processed by the website, but by hand starting Oct. 15.
Just wait until the kids understand this. These minds full of mush in college right now will not comply. The left has created a radical generation that expects everyone else to pay.
Reality will be quite the bitch for them.
Deadbeats and the sick signing up in droves, which in many or most cases, will be free Insurance or next to nothing. Obungacare is already insolvent.
Sally is azz deep in the Kool Aid.
Apple creates “marketplaces” like iTunes. Government creates marketplaces like Soviet supermarkets. This thing is a turd that needs a full flow toilet flushing.
Kohn met her partner, Sarah Hansen, at the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 2003. Hansen works as an activist and consultant, and is the former Executive Director of the Environmental Grantmakers Association. They have a 3 year-old daughter, Willa Eliza Hansen-Kohn.
If they’re signing up for Medicare why did they have to wait for Obamacare?
Rush is right... the media now has their savior saving their commiecare... only it is impossible to save it and the website will not be working properly by the end of November and even if it does... they can’t hide the huge butt-rape that pricing and deductibles will be. This is the Titanic sinking and filling it with balloons will not keep it afloat.
Exactly what Rush said would happen this morning.
White House orders the Press to divert away from the “glitches” and tell the Masses everything will be dandy.
More about the author from Wikipedia:
Kohn held a program fellowship at the Ford Foundation, helping to manage more than $15 million in annual grants. She was also a distinguished Vaid Fellow at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute. Kohn has consulted at organizations such as the Urban Justice Center. She was also a strategic adviser to the Social Justice Infrastructure Funders.
Unfortunately for CNN and obunghole, math is hard. Harder if you’re stupid. Fixing a website won’t make the math required for obamneycare to work. The Death Spiral is happening.
That is undoubtedly a goal, but the bottom line here is this is a huge tax on the middle class.
Just another big ol' re-election fund for the statist politicians.
It's about making the taxpayers pay for the health care of people who don't pay taxes.
How much is Obama paying CNN to push this propaganda ?
Instead of the phone number being 1-800-FUCKYO, it should be 1-800-WELFARE or 1-800-MEDICAID.
It’s just another Welfare plan, but now you can have an income 250% above the Poverty Rate to get Gubmint Money.
Probably would have been easier to increase the Poverty Rate to $100,000 a year.
It was expanded medicaid for people making up to $62,000/ year. Most people making $62,000 don’t consider themselves welfare cases and as far as I know, people in the past worked hard to get off of medicaid. It’s not the best way to take of your family.
Obama orders the big pharma to reprice their most demanded products outside of his obamacare pricing rules to $2,000 for a bottle of tetracycline or lipitor, and just watch how fast obamacare rolls fill up. He ain’t very bright, granted. But he sure can use his cruel devious little socialist skull to #uck people who try to live outside his boot on neck.
He probably promised them that they could “Teabag” him.
Liberals love that word.
Yes, this is great news! I was wondering why I hadn't seen her smarmy sneer in a few fortnights!
But they’ll take the freely redistributed taxpayer money just the same. Since Bush knocked so many people off the tax rolls entirely, the Dems had to up the ante by raising the bar under which they can send people free money. It’s the only to outbid the Repubs in the vote-buying scheme.
None of this matters. What does matter is what Rush said yesterday about the enforcement mechanism. The only enforcement mechanism is to deduct the fine from your tax refund, if you aren’t expecting a refund, there will not fine. The more people that know this, the better. If we can’t defund it, we can starve it.
I hear this mantra again and again, but I don't know exactly what they think is "broken" about it.
The fact that I cannot get fire insurance if my house is on fire is NOT a sign of breakage.
Alex, may I have "Insurance Death Spiral" for $200?
Saying Obamacare will work is like saying, “Let’s back the Titanic up and ram that iceberg out of the way!”
A lot of people in Oregon (and elsewhere) are far more worried about what might pop up if their name is run through a government database than they are worried about health care.
Ok forgot about that.
Who’s the target audience here? No one is holding their breath waiting for it to fire up and work. Either they are already getting free shit, or they used to pay for their own insurance and now have to shop around for a decent replacement deal - which ain’t gonna be at some dumb exchange. Or they just don’t care, which is the sacred 30 mil people this mess came into being for in the first place.
Most of these people don’t know what to do. They are losing their insurance and the promised government hand-out is better than no care at all. Besides, they are probably being told that the lousy service that medicaid provides won’t be any worse than the lousy service of an Obamacare policy.
You have to remember that Oregon was very close to passing their own socialized medicine and even upped their income tax to pay for it. The only thing that stopped them was the fear that it would draw other uninsured and sick people from all over the country.
