Welfare, Not Full-Time Work, Is Now America's No. 1 Occupation

Dependency: "Is Welfare The New Normal?" we wondered in an editorial last Thursday, and we didn't have long to wait for an answer. On Friday an answer came back in depressing new data from the Census Bureau.

CNSNews.com's indefatigable data hound, Terence P. Jeffrey, dug into a few routine Census releases recently and discovered something shocking: More people in America today are on welfare than have full-time jobs.

“They have been beaten down for so long by the Obama economy that they feel they must accept a government handout to survive.”

No question that the “Obama Economy” is the root cause, but it’s been all by design in my opinion. Getting most of us on the dole is easier if there are insufficient jobs and I firmly believe that the economy is where it is because that’s what Obama needs to complete his “transformation.” At the same time, people of this current generation are not of the same cut of cloth as those who came up through the Great Depression as our parents did. It was bad, but somehow people got through without becoming slaves to their government!

I am pretty sure that is SSI, paid out to those that have not paid into Social Security or not paid in enough. It is a needs base program, some but not all are disabled- but for some reason is paid out of Social Security. Some think it is the main reason Social Security is running out of money.

SSDI is the one that is for people who have paid into Social Security and worked enough to qualify for benefits before becoming too disabled to work. From what I hear it is easy to get on SSI, nearly impossible to get SSDI, makes sense since every thing is upside down these days.

I think we are supposed to be confused about that, it is like calling illegal aliens immigrants. Muddies the water so people don’t wonder why this is paid out of Social Security monies.

when the money or food runs out

Keith Ellison already let the cat out of the bag when he said that there is plenty of money. The government just need to take it. So the government isn't going to run out of money as long as there is a single dollar in anyone's bank account or pension plan

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.

This article grossly understates the problem, because it ignores the millions of people on government payrolls.

The private sector simply cannot support the millions on government payrolls combined with the over 100 million people on some sort of welfare.

This is why we have exceeded $17,000,000,000,000 of debt and continue to print fake money to the the tune of $80,000,000,000 per month.

The system is crashing under its own weight with the “takers” taking much much more than the decreasing number of “makers” can ever produce. The FedGov’s “solution” is to print money until the whole system implodes. Welcome to the third world. FUBO

“any type of welfare should mean no voting rights!”

The same with any government employment (at least at the level on which one is employed - state workers can’t vote in state elections, fed workers can’t vote in fed elections, etc.). Who do you think they’re going to vote for?

“My American Dream is in tatters. I didn’t throw it away by overspending, or drugging and drinking myself to ruin, or not working my butt off all of my life. It just collapsed around us.”

I hope things work out; despite what some may say, for many people there was simply no way to escape this. American companies don’t want to pay wages according to supply and demand unless they get to flood the supply with cheap foreign labor; in that scenario the guy who has to bring home a certain minimum to pay for housing and children is basically screwed. He’ll always lose out to the younger, unmarried, childless person who can afford to work for less. As a result, the last generation of Americans is subsidizing the next wave of “replacement Americans”; NOBODY will risk the long-term financial investment of children or houses anymore. Auto loans now have the same “bad loan” risks as hme loans did ten years ago; there is no stability to the job market.

IMHO, until we get rid of the 16th & 17th, ANY entity that receives taxpayer (gov’t) $$ loses their ability to vote and/or ‘donate’ to the political process...and make the penalty HURT and hurt HARD.

All too often the crony capitalism is just as bad, if not worse, than the leech class. At least in this way, they may get something, but there’s no giving back.

It’s been my thought, if you can’t pull the lever (or a new ‘drain’ on the system), you should have NO input in the system. No commercials, no ads, no print, no NOTHING.

Remember, it’s just not the American born bums and leeches ...it’s also many, many foreign born bums and leeches who are slithering into this country by the boatload, every single day. Their #1 priority is to get on welfare, asap ...so they can “make it” here.

We support them, and then we support their parents, and their grandparents, aunts and uncles.

I see it every single day in healthcare. All they do is flash the Medicaid card and they’re “in.”

“Wonder what they mean on that chart by “Federal Supplemental Security Income?” Is that Social Security disability or something else?”

It’s SSI vs. SSD. SSI has gotten to be so close to SSD now they are interchangeable.

Can’t say I disagree, although I wonder if anyone has the moral courage & charisma to convince people currently on the dole & voting to either get off and go to work, or to vote to cut back their own paycheck.

Right now the democrats are sitting upon a mountain of debt money and charisma all arguing to go the other way, and they won’t stop until the laws of nature force them to stop.(they run out of other people’s money & confidence.)

Then they will either start fighting each other over the scraps or they will turn to the few of us who still produce to scream at us for not working harder to support their lazy thieving asses.

See that is the problem.

The GOP doesn’t care about American jobs, because they’re subsidizing China’s explosive growth.

(a bad move IMO)

The Dems likewise don’t care about American jobs, because they’re subsidizing China’s explosive growth.

(see a pattern here?)

Bring back American jobs. To America.

Then we can stop paying Americans money, bankrupting our government.

Bring back US jobs.

Not that I care WHOM, if the States want to continue these programs, go for it; but as far as the Fed is concerned, they, and a BUNCH of other ‘programs’, Dept, etc. MUST (should) be abolished if we are to survive.

We have survived 100+ yrs. w/out following the Constitution, when do we submit the Declaration of Independence II?
