Rand Paul urges libertarians to vote for Cuccinelli, not Sarvis

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., on Thursday urged Virginia Republicans supporting Robert C. Sarvis, the Libertarian candidate for governor, to come home to the GOP and vote for Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, the party’s nominee.

“I consider myself to be a libertarian conservative, a libertarian Republican,” Paul said in a phone interview Thursday. “A lot of things (Cuccinelli) talks about are free-market, limited-government, leave-me-alone government. I think there is a lot to like there.

“What I’m excited about in Ken Cuccinelli is that he is smart, he is articulate, and he has a keen sense of justice,” Paul said. Cuccinelli’s attempt to challenge the Affordable Care Act in court was “one of the things that catapulted a nationwide debate over the constitutionality of the health care law,” he said.

Paul, a potential Republican presidential contender for 2016, will campaign with Cuccinelli in Fairfax County and Virginia Beach next week. His visit to the state comes as the attorney general faces headwinds from members of his own party who have defected to Sarvis

Rand Paul is going to be in VA tomorrow. The Fairfax event had to be moved there was so much interest. If you can come out to either the Virginia Beach or Fairfax event please do. We also need volunteers to door knock, make calls, and there is still time to donate. We can win this race. Are we going to let a corrupt liberal Clinton crony take Virginia?

I hope Cuccinelli can pull it out. I confess I don’t know all that much about him. I know more than I need to about Terry “Bagman” McAullife, though.

Too late. Libertarians are going to elect another democrat. That’s all they’ ever accomplish.

Real conservatives in the Republican Party are pretty much independents, they know they cannot expect any help from the GOPe and the Republican apparatus.

He was the first attorney general to file a lawsuit against Obamacare. He fought the EPA and won when they tried to regulate rainwater as a pollutant. He is prolife, profamily, and fiscally conservative. He’s best described as a conservative libertarian in the vein of Rand Paul. He’s a good man.

Here’s a link to his accomplishments.

But, but, but, they are making a “statement of principle!” Never mind that they might as well go outside and piss into the wind for all the good their “principled vote” does them or the country! And they will tell you after the dust settles, that they will begin winning soon!

Is Cuccinelli a Red Ink Republican?

Is he a Democrats’ Republican like McCain always is?

Is he a committed Cave-In RINO like Boehner always is?

Not so fast. This race is close. Its either a single digit race or near tie. We’ve seen a big increase in support. I think that Sarvis in the end will hurt McAuliffe more. Real conservative libertarians and small government libertarians who aren’t dumbasses will vote Cuccinelli. Sarvis is going heavy on the social issues crap so hes going to attract young stupid voters who think that promoting gay marriage and abortion are the number one issues which is where McAuliffe will be hurt. McAuliffe’s investments in a company that was stealing from terminally ill people is breaking big time on the Wapost and in Virginia and is going to be a story going into this last week.

Hey, they're just following the sage advice of John Quincy Adams.

No politician is owed anything. If KC wants the votes of libertarians, he's gotta earn them.

Sarvis is pretty liberal on some of the major issues, that will win the libertarians.

Libertarians are the reason Montana has a Democratic governor and a fat Democratic senator!

He is a Free Republic tea party kind of Republican. He’s a Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Mike Lee Republican. That is why many in the establishment in Virginia are not helping or trying to sabotage him.

Some highlights:

*He was the first AG to sue to challenge the constitutionality of Obamacare.

*He sued the EPA and won when they tried to regulate rainwater in Virginia as a pollutant.

*He pushed for and got a property rights amendment to the state constitution to protect private property from eminent domain on the ballot and the measure won with 72% even though he face opposition from GOP and Democrats.

He’s prolife, anti amnesty, pro traditional family, with an A rating from the NRA.

Here is a link to some of his accomplishments:

I pray you're right. It's not just another race, it's another Democrat crook and another notch in the Clinton's gun. We have to stop the corruption somewhere, this would be a good start.

Sarvis is a liberal, actually. I wouldn’t vote for him if I lived in VA. But my point is, is that the Republican brand is completely tarnished. KC should do a better job at getting these voters without compromising his principles. TM has painted him as a bible-thumping so-con.

He’s earned them though it depends what kind of libertarian one is. If one is a Ron Paul Rand Paul type then he’s earned them. If one is a liberaltarian who is more concerned about social issues and believes being gay is like being black and abortion should not be regulated at all then Ken is not your guy.

He’s fought for liberty at every turn. He’d be the most libertarian Governor in the nation if elected.
