George Will: ‘Of course I want Obamacare to fail’
Daily Caller ^ | October 27, 2013 | Jeff Poor

Posted on 10/28/2013 1:07:49 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Washington Post columnist George Will said he wants Obamacare to fail, pointing the impossibility of controlling one-sixth of the economy with central planning after his co-panelist Juan Williams declared Republicans did not want the law to work.

Williams accused Will and his other co-panelists on this weekend’s “Fox News Sunday” during the show’s online-only “Panel Plus” segment of “schadenfreude” in voicing their reactions to the failure the HealthCare.gov launch.

“[Y]ou know, I just think there is a lot of schadenfreude on the panel this morning,” Williams said. “ And people, ‘Oh yeah, you know, isn’t it terrible — oh my gosh, Obamacare is having trouble.’ Come on, Republicans don’t want this thing to work. That’s the bottom line here. That’s the reality here.”

Later, Will predicted the demise of Obamacare and said he wanted the law to fail for fear of how it will further change Washington, D.C. as the central focus of power in the United States.

“Oh, it will end,” Will said. “Because in fact what they’re trying to do is micromanage one-sixth of the American economy. What we have learned throughout the 20th century is in fact the micromanagement, central planning of complex societies doesn’t work.”

“I want to assure brother Williams that there is no schadenfreude because I’m not even pretending to be sorrowful,” Will continued. “Of course I want Obamacare to fail, because if it doesn’t fail, it will just further entangle American society with a government that is not up to this. For 100 years, Juan, the narratives of progressives from Woodrow Wilson on, is that progress will come if and only if we concentrate more and more power in Washington, more and more Washington power in the executive branch and more executive power in the hands of experts — disinterested experts such as those who designed HealthCare.gov.”

“Juan has his face up ZERO’S but.”

He’s been particularly irritating as a replacement for Beckel, on the The Five. I just turn off Fox when I see Juanny or Colmes.

always perceived Juan as the “token idiot” to defend liberals.

He's the black version of Alan Colmes.

I want all leftist policies to fail...what reasonable person doesn’t? Are the lefties trying to say they don’t want conservative policies to fail? Why should they lie? They obviously don’t want conservative policies to succeed and make it very clear how much they detest anything that takes power away from Big Government. Once again, conservatives are honest and lib/leftists dissemble.

“...crystal-clear fact that the Democrats want America to fail!”

You are exactly right. I’ll be using this one.

Also, these dunces have such short memories. Most recently - how much did they want George W Bush to fail, especially in Iraq?

Keep fighting back!

Oh BS george... you wanted obama from the start... you met with him when he was first elected and several times since then... the last time you tried to keep a secret... just two weeks ago. STFU and retire... your turd has ruined the party punch.

george is under fire for his activities directly connected to obama so he has to play uber conservative to try to regain his creds... he will never be able to with me. I do not believe anyone who meets secretly with obama and tries to avoid that truth when confronted wit it.

Juan has trouble holding a job. There must be something inherently wrong. Either he lacks the ability to consistently produce a written piece or he just can’t get along.

His jobs with various publications since he has been on the Fox panel is uncountable. Fox is one gig where he has remained because he can consistently produce and argue the talking point. The ability is Obamalike. Take what is written by others and spew it out.

George Will sometimes reminds me of a beaten puppy. He has spend so much time on ABC, outnumbered six to one, that he speaks a short conservative statement, and then sits back waiting for the others all to beat him. He's unaccustomed to making a brilliant statement, and then getting nods of approval.

This limits his effectiveness. He speaks only partial thoughts, and then sits back, silent, waiting for the beating.

It is easy to forget when they start agreeing with us... but we must weigh a man’s integrity against what has come before. People can change... those like george will can change at will... no pun intended.

Only problem is it’s NOT failing.

America FAILS to see what it was intended for.

Cloward-Piven would be proud.

Damn right I want it to fail and everything else Progressive. It has no place in our republic.

The dirty little secret is that democrats want it to fail too, after the 2014 elections. By then, the private health insurance market will be so severely damaged, and most companies won't be providing health insurance to their employees, so the democrats will then propose the single payer system. Government to the rescue.

Why should anyone listen to someone spouting talking points they don’t believe? You’d give someone some slack for being a lying mouthpiece of an ideology just because he is paid for it?

Juan Williams has this nice guy demeanor that makes anything he says palatable to the LIV. If he doesn’t believe it himself, that is just more egregious insult added to the injury.

One more reason I don’t have subscription TV and haven’t paid attention to these pundit shows for 5 years. FNC being clever about their presentation doesn’t equate to that presentation being worthwhile.

Hey Juan. Get a clue. Opposing the party in office and their policies is what the opposition party does by definition.

I don’t see the need to help with the heavy lifting to save these socialist liberals when their big government programs, like ObamaCare, don’t work the way they envisioned they would from their ivory towers. They made their beds themselves without the support of any Republicans in Congress or the majority of the American people. They can now lie in their own mess and take full responsibility for its failure.

Of course, we all know they will do neither. They will not take responsibility or blame, preferring to do what they usually do when they can’t argue successfully on the merits of an issue. They will blame the Republicans for it’s failure and spin the failure as a success, since they know their lackey media types will back them up in these assertions. In Obama’s socialist/communist world, up is down, black is white, wrong is right and bad is good.

So yes, I oppose ObamaCare and hope it goes down in a ball of flames, burning the liberals who foisted this mess on the American people in the process.

Really? Cuccinelli is a True Conservative who walks the walk, not just talks the talk...McAwful personifies every aspect of limousine, liberal, insider, tax and spenders...yet Will thinks he’s a better choice???
Will is a snake in the grass, DC cocktail party circuit poseur and needs to not be read, quoted, watched and needs to be shown the door....
