I certainly hope so. The Dem's reckless disregard for laws, the Constitution, fair play, and common sense should have caught up to them a lot longer ago,

Well, don’t be surprised if you get a couple of conservative visitors when the SWTF....

We should be fine right where we are, I am a guy that likes contingency plans for everything. And, if you guys ever have to head west, we have room and are set up for visitors.

And who does GOP have to offer? They might vote non-Dem if a suitable candidate appeared. WE can’t stand our GOPe candidates!

This is exactly what the problem is. If McCain and Romney are the best the Republican Party has to offer, then it is America that is f**ked. The Dems will still win the presidency in 2016.

“he Republican Party has morphed into a spineless, neutered co party of the Rats. I wouldn’t call that a win for us Conservatives either. The economy is in a shambles. The morality and ethics of the population is sickening with queers and perverts in every public high office. The public education system is under a Common Core corrupt code. The Justice Dept is in collusion with the establishment bankers. No, that’s not my idea of a win.”

Ok, vote Democrat or third party and see how much your vote counts. Be prepared for 4 more years of commie/pinko Dem rule if you do.

I don’t think the op was attacking those with legitimate cause, if so he was wrong in his comment. With that said even those with legitimate cause are still part of the 49% number. Social Security or disability does not exclude you from the list but it does give legitimate reason to be on it. When I retire in a couple of years my name will be added to that list.

“Soon enough, millions of people will be unable to obtain vital medicines and urgent medical care because they’ve lost the insurance they had, and can’t afford the grossly inflated prices of Obamacare compliant policies.

County hospitals are going to fill to overflowing and many private hospitals will go broke under the new rules. We’re going to start seeing horror stories of real pain and death because of this stupid, stupid law.”

Coming January 2nd to a facility near you! Unless and until some pol is forcibly removed from his/her home or office, stripped naked, duct taped to a chair and tortured relentlessly, the message will not be received loud and clear. The pols, the ones responsible for this “act”, need to truly understand the shitstorm they are releasing on this country. And Pelosi wants to include “free child care”? I submit we crossed the rubicon long ago.

While fascism may be incompatible with the Founding Fathers’ views, it rose during tumultuous times to defend the middle and upper classes (and protect their private property rights) against Bolshevism. They shouldn’t be lumped with Dems today; the Dems don’t deserve the same characterization.

Here in NJ we’ve lost many private hospitals already; the same state that required them to treat illegals steadily reduced the reimbursement for doing so until they shut their doors. In my town our only hospital fought to erect a large parking garage in a residential neighborhood, then closed a few years sticking the neighborhood with this giant eyesore. Now we have to enter the welfare reservations to use a hospital...

If “that grouping” were not so very large, getting lumped in would not be notable. Of course some receiving checks from the gov is good, as you deserve it. Alas, the grouping is overwhelmed with the undeserving, and constantly qualifying statements is awkward in casual conversation. Thanks to the undeserving, your checks might just end as the money has already run out (the pipeline just hasn’t emptied yet).

“I can’t see how the Democrats can avoid this thing back-firing on their party. I can see thousands of people camped out at their congress critters’ offices demanding they DO something to fix the situation.”

You answered your own question. Dems will avoid this by constituents demanding they “do something”, which they will, rearranging the pain to satiate the complainers and irritate someone else, repeating the cycle and imputing blame on the Right. Always works. Nobody cares how the problem happened, only that “somebody DO something”.

“I get a “government check” for my veteran’s disability.”

Government checks of all kinds - in aggregate - skew the recipients attitudes to be more favorable to the status quo and the continued receipt (and growth) of those government checks. Do you honestly believe otherwise? Remember, I said “in aggregate” and not making any statement of individuals.

The point is that in the end somebody has to make the money that is taken to fund the government check. We don’t have enough of those “sombody’s”. 49% receive welfare, according to recent statistics. There are also millions of government checks, like yours, that are not welfare that also must be funded by “somebody else”. The percentage is way over 50% of folks that receive “government checks” of all kinds - whether “deserved” or not. Use whatever standard you wish to determine who should get a check.

We do not have the money to pay them all. We do not have the political will to not pay them all, in fact we are making a concerted effort as a country to increase the number of people that get a “government check” of some sort.

I’m for reducing government to the point where we are paying down our debt, not growing it. I am one of the dwindling group of “somebody else”. I’m also a veteran.

If you can make the case that you should be given money that is taken from me - that I earned - no matter who you are and what the reason - feel free to make the case.

The conversation quickly becomes awkward in both directions.

I think we should have that conversation before we meet our collective doom and all the checks stop.

The health care failure is only bad for the Dems if it gets blamed on them.

And the 1968 revolutionaries in Amerika WERE naked Communists. Mao spouting, Marx quoting, Viet Cong flag waving, Castro worshipping COMMIES.

The Democrat Party died circa 2008.

Maybe that's when it completely died, but the fatal disease was introduced about 10 years earlier, when they discovered that they could indeed get away with anything they wanted, as long as they stick together, and that the media was enough in control to run interference for them.

From that point on, they've lost all semblance of self-restraint.

"Government checks of all kinds - in aggregate - skew the recipients attitudes to be more favorable to the status quo and the continued receipt (and growth) of those government checks."

I have followed your conversation with interest. As I am a retired Marine. After putting in 22 years of various duties including the drill field, combat and humping the hills in the infantry I feel I can safely say that I earned my government check. My fellow veterans that have gotten wounded in combat defending this great country have by all means "earned" their disability check as far as I'm concerned.

My beef with government checks are the ones who haven't "earned" them. People who get government checks simply because they are poor or without a job. These people used to be taken care of by charitable organizations within the community. Now the government has co-opted those community organizations and they are but an arm of the government. Americans are some of the most generous people in the world. I am in several veterans organizations and I've seen with my own eyes the level of charity the American people have. America worked best when the government was not involved in the charity. Those government checks should be eliminated. The ones to veterans who have retired (i.e. did 20+ years) or who have service connected disabilities have been earned IMO. Those were incentives given to us to sign up to defend our country against all enemies foreign and domestic. It is one of the reasons we have in the constitution as a function of the federal government (national defense).

My post and complaint was toward the asinine assertion in Post #6.

Tzimisce says “49% of the people in this nation are getting government checks. None of those people care about anything our government does as long as the checks keep coming.”

It is not only those on the left that plays fast and loose with facts and figures to exaggerate their pinhead point.

Did nobama increase the welfare rolls? Certainly, but not to half the population as some try to claim and who either conveniently leave out that a significant percentage of gubmit payments go to SS or somehow incorrectly claim SS and Medicare is welfare.

Oh, it's as predictable as the rising of the sun, that the Dems will seek to concoct a saleable theory that pins all of the blame for the hurt on the Republicans, big insurance, Dubya, the Tea Party, Jim Rob.

Well, maybe not Jim Rob, but only because they won't remember to add his name to the pile.

The thing is, the left isn't even particularly savvy or smooth about how they conduct that sort of anti-right propaganda. In fact, they're downright inept and sloppy as hell about it. You've got gov't droids now trying to spin away Obama's promise that people could keep their health plans if they liked them. They're forcing talk radio to play the clips of Obama making that promise. Doesn't matter. The leftoid droids keep spinning anyway.

It's like the kid who's caught with his hand in the cookie jar, with oreo crumbs all over his face, who says, "I didn't steal any cookies!" They lie right to our faces with the clear evidence of their guilt in plain sight.

The Republicans are going to have do something extraordinary for once -- fight back.

Adding fuel to the fire, Congress has exempted themselves from the monstrous overhaul and has a massive subsidy program designed that puts the burden of insurance costs for the poor on the middle and upper class.

The middle class has always subsidized health care for the poor. It was just done in a different style. Here's how it worked... poor people would go to an emergency room for a bad cold - they'd be treated, cared for and dismissed with a bill of a few thousand dollars (rather than the $90 doctor bill they would have received from a private physician).

The poor person doesn't pay the outragous bill of $3,000 to treat a cold and the hospital "writes it off" their taxes... All doctors paid, hospital gets rich (but not on the books) and poor have health care.

The big difference with ObamaCare is the Government gets a cut of the action... a big 'cut' - at a big cost to the middle class.

It's gonna hurt 'em sick - even the MSM won't lie for democrats on this one.

The problem that is killing us as a nation is socialism.

Socialism always brings calls for more socialism.

If you want to save this nation, you're going to have to end all socialist devices - including social security, medicare, welfare, whatever.

You can either repeal the socialism or watch this country go completely bankrupt, but either way the day the government checks stop going out IS coming.

Same to you buddy. See, like I said, you can’t talk to folks about “their” checks. You did bring it up, though.

As much as you may or may not deserve “your” check, you have to realize that somebody has to pay for it.

It’s not a commentary on anything but that, but your reaction makes the greater point that your check influences your behavior.

” America worked best when the government was not involved in the charity. “

I agree with you on this.

Nobody is talking about combat-wounded being denied support - we should be worried about this. If we do not reign in government checks to the overwhelming majority of Americans who benefit from them, the day will come (who knows when specifically) when the checks for even catastrophically wounded veterans will stop (or become worthless)

That is when we will all need to reclaim the spirit of charity that, as you point out, has been co-opted and destroyed by government.
