The New Yorker magazines latest issue features a nearly 10,000 word article on the rise in homelessness in New York City but the piece doesnt mention the name Barack Obama a single time.
According to the article, the number of homeless in New York City has exploded in recent years.
For baseball games, Yankee Stadium seats 50,287. If all the homeless people who now live in New York City used the stadium for a gathering, several thousand of them would have to stand, the article opens.
More people in the city lack homes than at any time since . . . Its hard to say exactly. The Coalition for the Homeless, a leading advocate for homeless people in the city and the state, says that these numbers have not been seen in New York since the Great Depression. The Bloomberg administration replies that bringing the Depression into it is wildly unfair, because those times were much worse, and, besides, for complicated reasons, youre comparing apples and oranges.
In any case, its inescapably true that there are far more homeless people in the city today than there have been since modern homelessness (as experts refer to it) began, back in the nineteen-seventies.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Depression doesn’t really fit. It’s more like a stagnation. Nothing moves....everything simply lays there....waiting. Doesn’t matter if it’s business, banks, or infrastructure.
Covering for the Dictator is over, ya think?
And armies of bums who think they’re entitled.
Well, maybe this is progress of sorts.
Used to be that “homeless” was only mentioned in the news when the GOP held the WH.
How long before the WH says they are there because of Reagan? The “Its Not Our Fault Administration” continues on.
I doubt that covering for this guy is gonna happen. Every once in a while they will dump on him but they will catch themselves the next time.
That's right in their playbook. No joke. They are saving us from a bad case of 'capitalism'.
Oh I don't know. When 49% of the country is on food stamps, millions are squatting in homes they don't own and the government keeps borrowing money it doesn't have, it sounds sorta like a depression to me.
Eh? There’s a democrat in office and the homeless aren’t invisible?
A sure sign of the End Times.
By comparison, in 1988 Americans were convinced Ronald Reagan’s middle name was “homeless”.
Obama has not been told there are homeless people in New York City.
The rule is, if a Republican is in the White House, then homelessness is blamed on that president. If a Democrat such as Obama is in the White House, then the media is silent on assessing blame to a president and his policies.
It’s Bush’s fault.
If not for the govt safety net, we would have starving children like the 1930s, I have no doubt.
ie : Democrats often site obfustigations when claiming their misdeeds are "old news".
Funny comment at link. We don’t call them homeless any more, now they are Urban Outdoorsmen. Wonder why all groups have warm, fuzzy sounding names except for TEA Party people?
They’re just nature lovers.
