Posted on 10/30/2013 4:45:12 AM PDT by saganite
Democrat Terry McAuliffe leads Republican Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II by 4 points in the Virginia governors race, according to a Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday a considerably narrower margin than other recent public polling has shown.
The businessman and former chairman of the Democratic National Committee leads Mr. Cuccinelli, the states attorney general, 45 percent to 41 percent, the poll showed, with 9 percent of likely voters opting for Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis. That lead is down from a 46 percent to 39 percent advantage for Mr. McAuliffe in a Quinnipiac poll last week, when Mr. Sarvis was at 10 percent

Virginians must be STUPID to even THINK about voting for the PUNK!!! He is a MEAN, NASTY LIAR!!
Too many government drones in one area. The digital votes are most likely being manufactured already. /sarc
Come on Virginia, get your head out.
Having lived in Virginia for 3.5 years....this is the simple story.
Around Arlington and Fairfax, the vote is eighty percent Democrat. Within five years, I’m expecting a quarter of the vote in that area to go Green Party.
Once you clear that quarter of the state....Norfolk is sixty percent Democrat vote in every single election.
The rest of the state? About sixty percent Republican...sometimes even bouncing up to seventy percent in certain areas.
The urbanization of Virginia is something that no one expected two decades ago, and really goes to extremes. If you just look at the growth of Arlington since 1980s....huge surge, and mostly all urban young Democrats.
Beyond 2020, I don’t see any Republican being able to win in the state. The other upcoming issue is hostile feelings by the non-urban parts of the state, and the amount of state taxes that it draws in. There’s frustration building over the urban power, and where this leads in the future.
Better yet, Rand should get Dad Ron to tell Sarvis to drop out. He has no chance of winning. Sarvis is only enabling Clinton/McAuliffe to run rampant over Va....now....and in 2016.
Wheeler-dealer McAuliffe is ogling the VA treasury ....and the conniving Clintons are having wet dreams about Terry fixing the Va vote for Hilly come 2016.
VA voters who vote for McAuliffe are making a deal with the devil.
The GOP should have offered a clear choice and run a real conservative instead of a big government progressive statist prosecutor
Just my thought, but Obama would not be planning on Campaigning for McAwful there if he were as far ahead as the
media would have everyone believe.
A Tea Party surge at the polls can now put him over the top.
Don’t forget Richmond. There were precincts in some of the “hoodier” parts of Richmond during the Allen/Webb Senate race where Allen did not get one vote. 100% Webb. The Richmond suburbs are purple-to-red depending on which parts you’re in, but the city itself is Rat to the core because of the large black population.
Parts of Virginia are still weird about how they vote though. I grew up in central Virginia (Amherst County) and during the ‘80s and ‘90s the Sixth District, which was reliably Republican every four years, sent a “moderate” Democrat (Jim Olin) to the House six times. Then when Olin refused to run for a seventh term, they put Bob Goodlatte in office and he’s been there ever since. Incumbents have a lot of power and respect still there.
Why is he even up?
TERRY, THESE GHOULISH THING REMIND ME OF YOU McAuliffe is apparently polling well---and prolly receiving mucho campaign cash---from the "dearly departed" b/c a lawsuit Democrats filed says the [VA State Board of Elections] is rushing to complete the purging of dead voters in time to have the desired effect on the upcoming gubernatorial election.....to make sure that those who no longer live here dont vote here."
(cackle) The "dearly departed" are also Hillary voters. Terry is 2016 Hillary's place-keeper. If elected, grave-robber Terry will fix the vote---dead or alive---for Hilly. (That's after he rapes the VA state treasury.)
DEAD AND READY Another shady example of how the connected ex-DNC chair, Obama suck-up, and Clinton confidant, mixes business with politics to profit himself....with the dead and near-dead as his victims.
<><>McAuliffe apparently lied to VA voters---according to McAuliffe's campaign, he invested $33,000 in the notorious Caramadre death fund and received $80,000 in return, a $47,000 profit. However, documents submitted in Caramadre's trial by federal authorities indicated that McAuliffe's profit was actually $114,000, or $34,000 more than McAuliffe admitted to voters.
<><> According to official RI court records, McAuliffes connection to Caramadre came to light via court records linking McAuliffes investment directly with the terminally ill, ailing mechanic; official forms identified them as "acquaintances" (apparently a requirement to allow McAuliffe to cash in).
<><> When the irrefutable court records surfaced, McAuliffes campaign then said McA did not know the mechanic and doesnt know why they were listed as "acquaintances."
<><> NOTE: if official files were falsified to profit McAuliffe, that would be a felony in any state.
He is up because of the large number of liberal Marylanders who have relocated to NoVa to escape the high taxes of the Peoples Republic of Maryland and who now vote in Virginia elections (and who are now turning NoVa into a carbon copy of high-tax Maryland).
Another two weeks of Obamcare coverage and Cuccinelli would be 4 points ahead.
no /sarc needed. if it weren’t true it wouldn’t be so tragic. i would bet money that the dem vote fraud machine is in full effect to ensure VA goes to McAweful
the shock is after the stagnant economy and disastrous ACA implementation, anyone outside of the NE would vote for a Dem.
Wow..our country is in sad shape if this loser is ahead at all.
I believe the opposite is true. Obama wouldn't want to risk his political capital in a race he could lose. The reason Obama is campaigning in Virginia is because he wants to turn it into a referendum on ObamaCare.
Personally, I think Obama is misjudging here. I believe Cuccinelli could pull this one out. But I also believe that if Obama thought McAuliffe was going to lose, he wouldn't risk his own neck by campaigning for him.
The tell here is that McAuliffe wants Obama to campaign for him. This marks a change in the McAuliffe strategy which to me indicates that McAuliffe (not Obama) is worried.
Yep, Virginia was a huge disappointment in the presidential election and there’s no reason to be hopeful in this election except for two things. The libertarian candidate always under performs in the election based on polling numbers and the surge from 12 points back a week ago to 4 points back in this poll could be a sign of huge momentum for Cuccinelli.
these socialist bastards from the NE ruin every solid red state this way.
seriously they’re all brain damaged. they’ll ruin every city and state they migrate to until their forced to move to Canada to be with their socialist kind.
Cuccinelli needs to win by at least five points to overcome dem voter fraud, the dead, the illegal, the union thugs bused in...
No way Sarvis gets 9% Election Day.
Mmmm......my take is just the opposite. Ohaha waited til the last minute when the polls showed McA was ahead----b/c Ohaha figures he better not test his popularity right about now, as O/Care is tanking. I would not be surprised if Ohaha backs out--after seeing these latest polls.
Same in the recent NJ special Senate race----Ohaha did not endorse til the last minute---when he knew Booker was way ahead.
BACKSTORY---in 2009 Ohaha was front and center for Dem pally---incumbent gov Corzine---a Cabinet wannabe:
<><> Corzine---a Wall Street multi-millionaire--outspent his opponent w/ millions of his own money:
<><>Obama and Biden personally campaigned in the state several times.
<><>Obama gifted Corzine w/ $17.5B "stimulus" which promptly disappeared (can you say offshore wire transfer?).
<><> Top-secret rah-rah meetings were held w/ latinos.
<><> Corzine had a latino PAC backing him.
<><> Obama ads flooded the airwaves w/ costly TV ads.
<><> Corzine spent some $20M on get-out-the-vote union canvassers.
<><> NJ is registered 10-1 Democrat.
<><> The pro-life Repub's running mate was lacerated---the ex-sheriff nailed criminal latinos.
END OF STORY---Corzine lost handily---with a lot of help from Obama.
Looks to me like - once again - the Libertarian candidate is handing an election to the Democrats.
Maybe a lot of those Libertarian supporters are now, or will when voting, giving it up and switching to Cuccinelli for the greater good?
“Beyond 2020, I dont see any Republican being able to win in the state. The other upcoming issue is hostile feelings by the non-urban parts of the state, and the amount of state taxes that it draws in. Theres frustration building over the urban power, and where this leads in the future.”
Sad but true. Demographics are destiny. The same might hold true for states like Florida, Ohio and North Carolina. Perhaps Texas in another 8-12 years. We’ve already lost Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada. The path forward is not optimistic unless there is a dramatic change in the way the GOP supports true conservative voices and actually presents itself with an easy-to-understand message of smaller government, lower taxes and adherence to the Constitution. Conservatism is hard, government dependence is easy. Democrats appeal to our lazy, infantile urges. That’s how they win.
Virginians (real ones) get it. It’s the east coast side that’s been infected with the deadly liberal progressive virus, i.e. Northern VA, Richmond, Suffolk, Norfolk, Virginia Beach etc.
Fannie Mae is located in Wash, DC.....and both are very troubling quasi govt agencies subsidized and bailed out by taxpayers.
<><> A recent Inspector General's report claims Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are masking billions of dollars in losses.
<><>Fannie/Freddie are centerpieces of the criminal enterprise called the Democrat Party-appointed Dem cronies and collaborators loot the organization, get cushy jobs, bonuses, etc. Fannie Maes political machine dispenses campaign contributions, jobs to friends and relatives of legislators, hires armies of lobbyists (even paying lobbyists not to lobby against it), pays academics who wrote papers validating the sub-prime home ownership mania, and spreads charitable contributions to housing advocates across the congressional map.
In sum, Fannie Mae serves as an industrial-sized patronage factory sharing profits with political allies, spreading taxpayer funds to voting blocslike ethnic groups-and doling out jobs to left-wing academics, Washington has-beens and back-scratching cronies.
<><> THIS IS AN OFFSHORE WIRE TRANSFER ALERT--POLS READY TO CASH-IN BIGTIME: Obama, himself, says its time to turn the page on Fannie and Freddie
MarketWatch | 7/24/13 | FR Posted by illiac
Obama's July speech on the US economy spelled out the beginning of the end for federally-controlled mortgage buyers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Well work with both parties to turn the page on Fannie and Freddie, and build a housing finance system thats rock-solid for future generations, Obama said, according to a copy of his prepared remarks.
The House Financial Services Committee approved a bill in July that would get rid of the firms in five years, to be replaced by a National Mortgage Market Utility to help "securitize" mortgages. (Excerpt) more at blogs.marketwatch.com
NOTE WELL WHAT OBAMA "FORGOT" TO MENTION Page A15 WSJ report entitled Treasurys Fannie Mae Heist.
WSJ excerpt: The Federal government is seizing the substantial profits of the government-chartered mortgage firms, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, taking for itself the property and potential gains of private investors the government induced to help prop up these companies. This conduct is intolerable. A scathing article follows--a must read.
A HOLDER COVER-UP FOR F/M? for massive sub-prime mtge fraud perpetrated by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (as vote-crazed Obama/Dems suck-up for latino votes).
The Democrats have known this for a long time. If McAwful was up by 12 points as the Dems want us to believe, Hillary Clintoooon and Obozomama would not be showing up to campaign for him.
(1) There is no way that Obama and the Clintons would be campaigning there unless McAwful really needed them. The fact that they're there/coming demonstrates that McAwful's own polling shows it to be very close.
(2) If you read the article, you will find that the Libertarian candidate is NOT harming Cuccinelli that much. McAwful would still have a 2-point edge if Sarvis wasn't there. Some Libertarian-supporters are really just liberal-lite - they will not support a Pro-Life, Anti-Sodomite Normalizer (my own term, which I think accurately describes our view on the issue) candidate.
On the other hand, I've known Ken since he was a Senator that voted against tax and government size increases in the Commonwealth. That is his record for all to see including taking on the GoPe. His actions including the lawsuits against ACA, UVA/AGW/Mann, EPA, etc. show that he is not a statist. He is a true conservative and I don't know who you might be referencing as a conservative.
I was also blindsided by that race but now see Romney’s loss was a blessing.
He would have saved Obamacare at any cost and Paul Ryan is already a huge disappointment.
I don’t agree, I think the Clintons showed up to show how popular the witch is and Obama skated in to assist in the “see everyone loves Obama” propaganda.
None of these people would step foot into a race they thought their guy could lose.
No sarcasm needed. They might never lose another non-essential election again. Who is going to stop them? Boehner? McConnell?
The Obama White House wants to make this race a referendum on ObamaCare. They may well get their wish.
The Commonwealth of Virginia is also known as the Mother of Presidents. Unfortunately, the eighth in that line erased the honor of the seven who came before.
You have a good analysis.
Some of these states are so heavily Democrat (California) that they can export enough folks to tip smaller adjacent states and still remain safe D themselves.
On the other hand, the Republicans and conservatives are making real progress in the Rust belt. Wisconsin, Michigan - you loose some, you gain some.
