HELENA In Montana, as many as 20,000 holders of individual health insurance are getting or will get letters from insurers saying their current policy doesnt comply with "Obamacare" regulations, and is being discontinued.
But insurers say the letter is not a cancellation, and that theyre instructing those policyholders how to get comparable coverage, which may or may not cost more.
Blue Cross sent notices to about 13,500 individual policyholders in Montana this fall, telling them their current policies are being discontinued because of the ACA.
PacificSource, which has more than 5,000 Montana customers with individual policies, is sending letters over the next few months, when the customers current policy expires, said Todd Lovshin, regional vice president for Montana.

Damn dirty greedy insurance companies!
We conservatives, and here at FR especially, should now universally declare a ban on the use of the words “cancelled,” “discontinued,” etc. when used in connection with commercial healthcare plans and mandatorily replace them with “made illegal by Obama.”
So it's not a cancellation? I guess they got a visit from the kneebreakers who told them "Do not to say anything that Don Obama might find uncomfortable. Capisce?"
I imagine if Obama was notified of Montanans suffering under his policies, he’d mutter “good”.
I like it.
I have used something similar with my libinlaw.
She uses “illegal” lightbulbs all the time.
send those bills to Max Baucus, one of the heroes who forced obamacare onto America
Actually, they are greedy and dirty. The insurance companies supported Obamacare because they believed it would force more people to buy their product. They also can raise premiums knowing that government subsidies will help pay the costs.
In 2010 a study was conducted that appeared in the federal register predicting that 93 Million Americans Will Be Unable To Keep Their Health Plans Under Obamacare Employers will start dropping their coverage.
The Departments mid-range estimate is that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013, wrote the administration on page 34552. All in all, more than half of employer-sponsored plans will lose their grandfather status and get canceled. According to the Congressional Budget Office, 156 million Americansmore than half the populationwas covered by employer-sponsored insurance in 2013.
Another 25 million people, according to the CBO, have nongroup and other forms of insurance; that is to say, they participate in the market for individually-purchased insurance. In this market, the administration projected that 40 to 67 percent of individually-purchased plans would lose their Obamacare-sanctioned grandfather status and get canceled, solely due to the fact that there is a high turnover of participants and insurance arrangements in this market. (Plans purchased after March 23, 2010 do not benefit from the grandfather clause.) The real turnover rate would be higher, because plans can lose their grandfather status for a number of other reasons.
How many people are exposed to these problems? 60 percent of Americans have private-sector health insuranceprecisely the number that Jay Carney dismissed. As to the number of people facing cancellations, 51 percent of the employer-based market plus 53.5 percent of the non-group market (the middle of the administrations range) amounts to 93 million Americans."
These 93 million will be forced into the exchanges and will have to buy from the insurance companies or they can go directly to the insurance companies and negotiate a plan, but it must meet Obamacare standards. Either way, the insurance companies will do quite well.
It is also good to remember that even under single payer, the insurance companies will have a market. 9 out of 10 Medicare recipients have supplemental insurance.
I have no sympathy of the insurance companies or Big Pharma that sold the American people out to cut special deals with Obama. Crony capitalism is destroying this country. I also suspect that the delay in the employer mandate was done for political reasons so as not to cause too great a shock during the roll out. Next year around this time, we will see the soaring numbers of employers dropping their health care plans, something they have always wanted to do, i.e., decouple health care from employer provided benefits. They will willingly pay the fine, which is much cheaper for them.
We already have single payer healthcare: Medicaid (70 million including the CHIPs program) and Medicare (47 million). With 10,000 Americans turning 65 every day for the next 20 years, the Medicare rolls will double. As I indicated, 9 out of 10 Medicare recipients have supplemental insurance. It is the reason why AARP backed Obamacare.
The insurance companies are not dumb. They supported Obamacare with their eyes wide open. They will survive.
A Democrat politician at work.
“Free Democrat money! Get your free Democrat money here!”
A sucker takes the bait.
“Hey Mr. Democrat politician! I’ll take some of that free Democrat money!”
“Sure kid. Wait here and I’ll get you some.”
The Democrat politician stops a businessman who is walking by.
“Gimme twenty bucks.”
“Why should I give you twenty dollars?”
“Because if you don’t, I’ll knock your teeth out.”
“Here’s the twenty.”
The Democrat politician walks back to the sucker.
“Here you go, pal. Here’s ten bucks.”
“But you got twenty bucks from that guy.”
“You made a ten dollar campaign donation to the Democrat party.”
“And I almost forgot the five bucks you’re going to give to some other sucker, I mean Democrat. So here’s five bucks.”
“Well, I guess five bucks free is better than nothing.”
“That’s right, pal, remember to vote Democrat.”
The sucker walks down the street. The Democrat politician pulls out a cell phone and dials a number.
“Hello, Karl, this is Joe. There’s another sucker coming your way. He’s got some dough in his wallet. I saw it when he took the five bucks. Don’t hit him too hard because I need his vote this next election. Right. See ya.”
“”Free Democrat money! Come and get your free Democrat money!”
If you like your health care plan, you can keep it.
If you like your Constitution, you can keep it.
Of course, it will cost more and you will have some high deductibles on both...
