Barack Obama has been subjected to as many personal attacks as any modern president.
Terrorist. Traitor. Hater of America. Secret Muslim.
Unusually for a politician, however, the one thing he hasn't been called much is a liar, except by his most adamant critics.
That's all changed now. Obama is being widely called out for having claimed, repeatedly, that under the Affordable Care Act, people who liked their health insurance plans could keep them.

Well, the thing is, every single one of these charges (plus Communist) is true.
And he isn’t even a secret Muslim. He IS openly a Muslim according to every definition that Muslims use. His father was a Muslim. His stepfather adopted him as a Muslim. He took Muslim lessons in school. He attended Muslim services in a mosque. He spoke the famous words that declare you are a Muslim—many times! And there is absolutely no record that he was ever baptized, or was ever actually a Christian.
Maybe he misspoke when he solemnly referred in that TV interview to “my Muslim faith.” But the fact that he only attends church very occasionally—for photo ops or campaigning—is telling. As is the fact that he persistently favors the Muslim side, and has installed Muslim terrorists in high offices in the military and the security services.
If any Republican spoke words like he does, the press would be all over him. But when Hussein speaks about his Muslim faith, or about campaigning in all 57 states, the press simply ignores it. And anyone who mentions it is regarded as a racist, extremist, Nazi, KKK-loving Obama hater.
Might matter if he was up for election, but he ain’t.

But 2014 is an election year. And it's showing with a growing number of wobbly democrats. Many of those are not in easy districts like Pelosi or Rangel. And they may be reluctant, at least during an election year, to help Barry turn us into a progressive paradise

We were at that time, February 27, 1968, in the middle of a war in Vietnam and the support of the 60's version of the MSM was crucial to that mission.
Run the calendar up 45 years plus and we find NPR, an important element of today's much more liberal MSM, doing a Cronkite treatment on Obama.

It really was. People like woody Allen came upon their politics honestly and could make fun of differences. Now liberals get so mad.
Mr. Buckley explains it so succinctly, proving my point. He was so common sensical and logical.
And Allen respects him, and not like he’s caught off guard. He just disagrees with him, but he’s respectful and lets him speak without even an eyeroll.
I agree with most of what Citizen has to say; but, I also agree with you X - I don’t think that most that voted for him did so because of his ideology (I don’t think he always showed his true ideology - remember, he threw the Rev. Wright and others under the bus). And, I would add that he told a lot of lies. IMHO during his first campaign he didn’t say a lot that most would “get” (except FReepers and other conservatives). He said a lot of things, but nothing really substantive - people believed he was speaking to them and they heard what they wanted to hear. He couched his messaging and speeches to same - leaving a lot to be meant for an individual’s interpretation.
Lord Harrington wrote that, I read I thought it was another lord whose name started with a T.
