The Cheneys Will Stop at Nothing to Get Liz Elected to the Senate
The Atlantic ^

Posted on 11/02/2013 11:54:13 AM PDT by ClaytonP

he Wyoming GOP primary campaign is already shaping up to be a scorched-earth affair, demonstrating the kind of senator Liz Cheney would likely be.

.....

Other Wyoming politicos who’ve tried to stay above the fray have found themselves drawn into the feud, notably Alan Simpson, the former Republican senator known for his crotchety demeanor. The Cheneys and the Simpsons were at a charity gala in Cody, Wyoming, when Lynne Cheney—Liz’s mother, Dick’s wife, and a writer of racy novels—allegedly approached Simpson and told him to “shut your mouth.” Simpson’s daughter-in-law posted about the incident on her Facebook page, and the local press picked up the story. Lynne issued a statement asserting that the interaction “simply did not happen.”

This denial apparently sent Simpson into a rage.

You must be one of Rush Limbaugh’s “low information voters” since Liz Cheney is happily married with 5 children. Either that or you are intentionally spreading FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) which is a typical progressive & RINO tactic. I honestly hope you are just misinformed.

Wow the progressive magazine “The Atlantic” is doing a hit piece on Cheney (along with adding kind words for Enzi). The GOPe, Mitch McConnell, the progressive Democrats and their propaganda mouthpieces (such as The Atlantic) are joining in the fray. I guess they don’t want strong conservative reinforcements such as Liz Cheney joining Ted Cruz in the Senate.

From Wikipedia:

(Liz) Cheney is one of two daughters of former Vice President Dick Cheney and former Second Lady Lynne Cheney (née Vincent); Cheney attended elementary school and Junior High in Casper, Wyoming. The family split time between Casper and Washington DC in the 1970s through the '80s following her father's election to Congress. [5] Cheney graduated from McLean High School (1984), where she was a cheerleader. She received her bachelor's degree from Colorado College, where she wrote her senior thesis, "The Evolution of Presidential War Powers," (1988).[3] She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Chicago Law School (1996), having also taken courses in Middle Eastern history at the Oriental Institute.[6]
Cheney is married to Philip Perry. They were married in Wyoming in 1993. She and Perry have five children: three daughters—Kate, Elizabeth, and Grace—and two sons, Philip and Richard.

That being said, I believe that she is, at the very least, sympathetic to homosexual marriage.

I don’t think so. And a number of folks said the same about Ted Cruz when he was running against the RINO (and GOPe “fair haired boy) Dewhurst in the 2012 Texas Senate Republican primary. They were wrong about Cruz and I’m pretty sure anybody saying the same about Liz Cheney will be proven wrong.

I don’t think it is a new tradition. It has been around as long as the Nation and predates it elsewhere as well.

The Lee family, the Adams family, the Frelinghuysens of New Jersey, all through the previous centuries. In England even without the landed Peers, the tradition was the same.

Burke had a lot to say about “natural aristocracy” as opposed to hereditary aristocracy. We see it skipping generations as well. People look upon their elder family members choices and service with respect and often want to follow in their footsteps in the military, medicine, business and elsewhere.

While it is true that in politics name recognition issues are different from other professions, I would not condemn this outright except with people trying to start a dynasty in the same office such as the Kennedy, Bush and Clinton families.

Exactly. She will reverse her decision quicker than Obama did and anyone who believes otherwise is fooling themselves. Liz is a joke. She’s running in a State she isn’t from, and under name that isn’t hers. She should be running in Virginia under her actual married name.

Just another GOPe nightmare. Not to mention her fingerprints are all over everything going so wonderfully in the moslem world. She’s no better than Hillary suddenly deciding to run in New York.

Weirdness runs in that family. Id hate to see her win.

Guy makes me crazy.

He is the spit 'n image of his chum Al Gore right down to the fact that both their fathers voted against the Civil Rights Act and both have lived a life of venomous guilt ever since.

Gore stumbled and bumbled his way into and out of politics, changing his persona every week or with every speech, whichever came first, 'cause he couldn't bare the stink of the Old Man still about him.

And Simpson, the grand cornpone wit of Washington---dear God the mincemeat a Twain would have made of him---has spent fifty years loathing no one so much as a conservative Republican precisely because all his fathers' conservative colleagues recognized the Old Bigot for what he was.

He was the angry coddled son of a foolish prominent man and remains so to this day.

From Wikipedia:

In Simpson’s words to this Court, “I was a monster.”

One day in Cody, Wyoming, when Simpson was in high school, he and some friends “went out to do damage.” They went to an abandoned war relocation structure and decided to “torch” it. They committed arson on federal property, a crime now punishable by up to twenty years in prison if no one is hurt, and punishable by up to life in prison if the arson causes a person’s death. Luckily for Simpson, no one was injured in the blaze.

Simpson not only played with fire, but also with guns. He played a game with his friends in which they shot at rocks close to one another, at times using bullets they stole from the local hardware store. The goal of the game was to come as close as possible to striking someone without actually doing so. Again, Simpson was lucky: no one was killed or seriously injured.

Simpson and his friends went shooting throughout their community. They fired their rifles at mailboxes, blowing holes in several and killing a cow. They fired their weapons at a road grader. “We just raised hell,” Simpson says.

Federal authorities charged Simpson with destroying government property and Simpson pleaded guilty. He received two years of probation and was required to make restitution from his own funds – funds that he was supposed to obtain by holding down a job.
