Posted on 11/04/2013 4:02:17 AM PST by suspects
t's a perfect political storm: President Obama's popularity is down, voters are angry over his unpopular health care law, and Republicans are energized and excited about voting. Just the conditions a minority party like the Massachusetts GOP needs to pick up a governorship and send a couple of Republicans to Congress. Only one problem. I'm not writing about 2014. I'm writing about 2010. And while the Republican tide swept over nearly the entire country, it stopped dead at the border of Massachusetts. Voters re-elected Gov. Patrick and sent every member of Congress back to DC. The Republican candidate for state auditor--and actual auditor--lost to a woman with zero experience who had been caught cheating on her taxes just weeks before the election.
Will 2014 be different?
Massachusetts Republicans say "yes," but when you ask for specific numbers or trends, the response tends to be a general mumbling and shifting of feet. Well, Ive looked at the numbers and theyre not bad. Theyre awful.
Out of 4.3 million registered voters in Massachusetts, about 480,000 are Republicans. Just over 1 in 10. On the other hand, there are 1.6 million registered Democrats. Put another way, if every single Republican in the state shows up and votes for Charlie Baker a year from now, and two out of three Democrats stay home to watch the "West Wing" marathon on MSNBC, the election would be a tie.
Republican Party activists like chairwoman Kirsten Hughes point out that the largest group of voters arent members of either party. There are 2.2 million are unenrolled voters in Massachusetts and they could vote GOP any time they wanted.
Unfortunately, they rarely do.
To be a Republican in Massachusetts, you need a lot of...

Probably not, because TEAMs ROMNEY and PATRICK control
the captured state (by carpetbaggers and illegals).
Of course not.
Republicans are Americans. Massachusetts is not America, but NeoEuropa
too much voter fraud in the mexican cities.
Kinda reminds me of:
In the Big Rock Candy Mountains you’re going on a holiday Your birthday comes around once a week and its Christmas every day You never have to clean your room or put your toys away There’s a little white horse you can ride of course You can jump so high you can touch the sky In the Big Rock Candy Mountains.
If the nominee for Governor is Socialist Willardbot Charlie Baker, they deserve to lose. When the MA GOP kicks out Socialist frauds like the state chairwoman and starts offering the voters a real choice instead of an echo, they’ll start to win again.
We will find out how many liberals have been mugged.
2014 needs to be a GOP year in VA, FL, OH, and other states where we can actually implement conservative ideas. I couldn’t give a flying ___ about what happens in Massachusetts, California, etc where they are a lost cause.
Massachussetts Democrats are too brilliant and intellectual to pull the lever for knuckle-dragging, idiotic, doltish, stupid, gun-loving, bible-thumping Christian-moron, anti-science conservatives. /s/
OMG! ROTFLMAO! Assachusetts, along with the rest of Red England, is a festering tumor upon the American landscape. It should be towed out to sea and set adrift.
The Republican candidates should have their last names legally changed to “Kennedy”. Then they’d win easily.
I do battle with a liberal cousin and her friends on Facebook. It ain’t gonna happen. The Kool-aid must be in the Massachusetts water supply.
Not with a milquetoast moderate like Charlie Baker running for governor. I’ll be leaving my ballot for governor blank again.
Even if so, would we notice a difference?
Yeah...and the Celtics will sweep the year. Not gonna happen.
It is funny to remember how just a little while earlier there were posts on here promoting Scott Brown for President.
Michael Graham is a self-inflated hack.
In the meantime those of us in central MA continue to be represented by Republicans.
With republicans like these, who needs democrats?
Republican US Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez campaigns at raunchy Gay Pride Week event.
Gay marriage. Strongly supports same-sex “marriage”. Often brings up his gay brother who is “married” to another man.
Gay pride. Marched in 2010 Boston Gay Pride Parade, which also included transvestites, sado-masochism groups, and numerous other depravities.
Gay anti-family hatred. In gay parade Baker marched with extremely hateful anti-family homosexual “KnowThyNeighbor” activists who were also campaigning for Baker. (They published the names of all who signed the VoteOnMarriage referendum petition.)
Abortion. Supports abortion. States bluntly, “I’m Pro-Choice. I support a woman’s right to choose.”
Left of Obama! Told the Boston Globe that he is “to the left of Obama” on social issues.
Gun control. Has stated that he supports tough gun control laws.
Transgender agenda. While Baker was CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care the company had a policy of supporting “gender identity or expression.” In 2008 Harvard Pilgrim scored a perfect 100% from the national homosexual group Human Rights Campaign for its employment policies. (This means it even paid for employees’ “sex-change” procedures!)
Homosexual agenda targeting children. While Baker was CEO, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation sponsored the 2005 GLSEN (Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network) Conference, pushing homosexuality on schoolchildren — the same event where the infamous Little Black Book was given out. Also at the time, Kevin Jennings (now Obama’s “Safe Schools czar”) was still running GLSEN.
Gambling. Supports expanded gambling in Massachusetts.
Big Dig boondoggle. Baker was Gov. Bill Weld’s budget chief during the expansion of the “Big Dig” — the most expensive public works project in history.
Prop 2 1/2 override. Supported prop 2 1/2 property tax override in his town, and was major donor for override effort.
Quinn Bill. Supports the Quinn Bill, a gift to by the Legislature to the police unions, seen as a fiscal money pit by many conservatives.
Fiscal responsibililty? For the last ten years Baker has made millions as head of Harvard Pilgrim, as premiums went up by several times the rate of inflation.
Richard Tisei :
Gay activist. Recently “came out” as a homosexual. Proudly embraces the homosexual lifestyle and pushes its agenda in Legislature.
Gay marriage. Supports same-sex “marriage”. Voted NOT to let the people vote on Marriage Amendment.
Fifth columnist. Bragged in homosexual magazine that “The margin of victory was provided by Republicans” in effort to deny vote on Marriage Amendment. Actively working to move the Republican party leftward.
Gay propaganda. Appears in an aggressive pro-homosexual “marriage” propaganda video produced by the homosexual lobby. Includes a number of questionable (i.e., phony) statistics.
Transgender bill. Co-sponsor of radical Transgender Rights and Hate Crimes Bill (H1728).
Abortion. Strongly supports abortion. Rated 100% by NARAL and 100% by Planned Parenthood.
Buffer zone. Co-sponsored the expanded buffer zone bill around abortion clinics.
Hostile to religious faith. Co-sponsored the “emergency contraception bill” that was vetoed by Gov. Mitt Romney because it would force Catholic hospital workers to act against their faith.
High taxes. Voted against several bills to reduce taxes, earning him the wrath of Citizens for Limited Taxation. Tisei was the only Senate Republican who voted against the tax rollback in May 2000.
So annoying. Discussing 2014 when tomorrow we are getting our butt kicked in Virginia and New York. The only positive is New Jersey and many don’t even consider that a positive. We cannot keep losing election.
