The Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which will come up for a cloture vote in the Senate today, mandates that employers in the United States permit men to dress as women at work and women to dress as men as long as they otherwise adhere to “reasonable dress or grooming standards.”
Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon, the bill’s primary sponsor, has been joined by 55 co-sponsors. So the bill already has the backing of a 56-vote majority in the 100-member Senate. …

If someone told me this kind of bill would be proposed in Congress 20 years ago, I would have laughed until my stomach hurt. Now, I just shake my head and wonder how we got here from there.

The nature of clothing is determined by social custom and fashion.
If an employer can’t keep a man from wearing a dress, then the employer is likewise unable to prevent arbitrary selection of things like a dog or chicken costume or heavy metal attire. It becomes “arbitrary”.
Next will come laws giving protected employment status to persons with full “sleeve” tattoos up their arms/hands and all over their face.
