So the program debuts and its a resounding, famous, fantastical flop. The first weeks of the news coverage are about how the websites dont work, can you believe we paid for this, do you believe they had more than three years and produced this public joke of a program, this embarrassment?
But now its much more serious. No ones thinking about the websites. They wish you were thinking about the websites! I bet America hopes the websites never work so they never have to enroll.
They said if you liked your insurance you could keep your insurancebut thats not true. It was never true! They said if you liked your doctor you could keep your doctorbut thats not true. It was never true! They said they would cover everyone who needed it, and instead people who had coverage are losing itmillions of them! They said they would make insurance less expensivebut its more expensive! Premium shock, deductible shock. They said dont worry, your health information will be secure, but instead the whole setup looks like a hackers holiday. Bad guys are apparently already going for your private information. . . .

All they had to do was clone Medicaid.gov.
LOL Peggy Noonan! Hell hath no fury like an Obama supporter scorned!
Gee - Ms. Noonan is saying something bad about obozo’s “signature” legislation ... who’da thought??!
Peggy’s love/hate/love/hate relationship with the president.
Anyone who resists the vile socialist policies of Obama is heroic. Those Republicans who undercut or did not support Ted Cruz should be ashamed.
Of course, the victory Obama is ultimately seeking - the utter and total ruin and ultimate destruction of the United States - has, as yet, eluded him.
But, of course, he has two more years to work on it.
Sorry Peggy, but your neurosis is not covered by ObamaCare.
All of us, even those covered by employer health plans, are going to pay more for inferior coverage than we had before. And this is due to the strangling bureaucratic regulations of Obamacare.
This would be a good campaign slogan, that we are paying more for less coverage now. Was it worth it, to expand bureaucracy and regulation, and increase all of our costs, in order to provide coverage to the uninsured in this manner? And in the end, we still could have millions of uninsured anyway? This is a debate worth having. Hopefully the GOP will not blow that debate.
Yep. I predict that for the next 20 to 30 years pundits will be referring to future unpopular or unsuccessful projects as "so-and-so's 'obamacare' moment..." or "...that has all the potential to turn into another obamacare..." etc.
Nixon's Watergate, Carter's hostage rescue, Bush's no new taxes, Clinton's blue dress moment... All passe. obamacare is the new standard for utter and abject failure. Never have so many worked so hard for such a big program that is such a fantastical failure.
Obama has three more years. He is president until January 20, 2017, and I’m sure he will use his powers until the last possible moment. Can’t wait to see all the pardons he issues on the morning of Jan. 20, 2017, taking a cue from Bill Clinton, who pardoned so many on his last morning in office.
“All they had to do was clone Medicaid.gov.”
Moocheles College Marxist friend had to get hers, hence nothing sensible for the website was considered.
Wow .... a regular flogging of Obamacare, Dems/Progs by Noonan! May this article be the tip of the media iceberg as Obama & his Dem cohorts continue to say “damn the reality torpedoes, full speed ahead”.
What the h is she talking about? Civil Rights, Social Security ‘Jaws’. I think she forgot how to use a metaphor.
This is not anything resembling the civil rights law. The opposition to this thing are not going to turn into dinosaurs, bigots. Is that the implication? Republicans did not certainly did not oppose civil rights
We knew years ago this thing, which has no funding, would be ad contiue to be a disaster.
What is she talking about?
All I’d change in that article would be the last line. Instead of “your” country, it needs to be “our” country. He’s no countryman of mine!
“Read my lips, I did not have sex with your healthplan.”
This is why you get no respect from conservatives Peggy. Its like you have paid no attention to what happens when we are the "bigger man" and do whats right;
WE GET TARRED AND FEATHERED FOR THE RESULTS OF THE IDIOT DEMOCRATS! and then we own it, thank you very much.
Peggy, I love you, but you're a fool.
He’s your BOY TOY Peggy you useless POS! You just could have enough word sex with him back in 2009 could you! You were wet and hot for little boy barack a and now you want us to forget all that .nice try you harpy hag!
Obama has three more years.
I wonder about that. For anyone who cares to notice he is accelerating his purge of military senior officers at an alarming pace. Sounds like a long term power grab to me.
Trust the government.
Yeah, that really worked out well for the Indians.
BUT you believed him then, and you succumbed to Obama's devilish charms and helped get him elected in 2008 ... so your recovery of sight now is nice, but really, at this point ... what difference does it make?
When will this dumb colleen, who has the wits to be only the domestic help, be pulled off the pages of the WSJ?
She is an example of someone who has overstayed her competence. She wrote a few words for Reagan, once upon a time, and somehow, she’s turned that into a gig where she’s able to display her stupidity for all to see on a weekly basis?
How does that become profitable for the WSJ?
Choke on it Peggy. I’ll never forget your rhapsodic emoting over Obama, all while condescendingly ridiculing Palin. Go back to your tony cocktail parties, with your fellow elitist scum, and you can all go burn in hell.
“LOL Peggy Noonan! Hell hath no fury like an Obama supporter scorned!”
Pffft, she’s just piling on because it’s permitted by the great and powerful Obama. A sort of pressure relief valve.
If this kind of article would limit the Pegster’s access to the cocktail circuit, it would have never been written.
This is the most agitated writing I have ever seen from Noonan. Her columns normally put me to sleep.
Maybe they could even ask the president: In your entire life, from community organizer to lawyer to politician, did you ever buy an insurance policy? Were you always on your wifes plan, or immediately put on a plush government plan? Did you ever have to do anything like what youre telling the people of your country to do?
Actually, in his Communist street agitator days, the Mahdi did buy auto liability insurance because Illinois required it for him to to get a license. He admitted as much in the nationally televised townhall meeting he had with Paul Ryan and a number of Republicans. He recalled how he was required to buy "insurance" for the old clunker he was driving, got rear ended, and the insurance company "laughed" him out of the office when he tried to file a claim under his policy. He used this example to show how some insurance is "bad" because it doesn't cover enough. In doing so, he failed to disclose that he tried to file a collision claim under a liability only plan, a plan he'd bought to save money because carrying collision insurance on an older car like the one he was driving makes no economic sense.
IOW, he showed his total, malicious ignorance of what insurance is, how it works, what it's good for and isn't good for. Peggy, of course, in her asinine teenage infatuation with him, never bothered to mention it and argue that ObamaCare was a frightful, destructive idea being promoted by a malicious, conceited, anti-Amerian communist ignoramus.
“LOL Peggy Noonan! Hell hath no fury like an Obama supporter scorned! “
It’s really tragic that, instead of indulging her bitter adolescent high school girl jealousy against Sarah Palin, Peggy had actually done some real journalism, learned who and what the Mahdi actually was (not a bit difficult, the information all being out there), and published it. No she might not be crying about the horrors her ignorant, stupid, unprofessional handiwork produced.
I am reminded of that Great British Socialist Triumph - ‘The Ground Nut Scheme.’
Obama can pardon all the terrorists at Guantanamo plus Major Hasan, and the story will be on page A-16 because all the media will be gushing over the imminent inauguration of Hillary Clinton.
No. We already are paying more for inferior coverage to what we had before Hairy Reed, Nasty Pelousy, and Barry Benghazi shoved 0bamacare upon us.
Well, he campaigned on this, Peggy.
And back then you did not help point out the most progressive, costly, intrusive, abusive proposal to the public. Why not????
Or Mao’s backyard smelters in the Great Leap Forward.
This is gonna hurt Obama. I heard that black approval has plummeted to 94%.
Re: “All they had to do was clone Medicaid.gov.”
Yes - I think you mean exactly the same thing I’ve posted a number of times.
We had maybe 20-25 million adults who needed health insurance but were too poor to buy it.
$100 billion straight to Medicaid, plus some doctor and hospital incentives, would have solved that problem in one day with a one page bill!
The rest of the “uninsured” are mostly healthy young people, or people who can afford insurance but CHOOSE not to buy insurance, or illegal immigrants.
Frankly, given all the material there is to work with, that was a long run for a short slide.
It's like she didn't want to be too hard on him...
This is a debate worth having. Hopefully the GOP will not blow that debate.
It is not up to the GOP to have that debate, it is up
to us the American people, the TEA party.
Have that debate with your neighbor, your mailman,
the people you meet in walmart. We must not be silent.
Maybe instead of having oversight hearings on the stupid website, they could be hauling in some insurance executives to see if theyre capitalizing on this bad law and trying to profit on its dislocations?
Peg, don’t you get it yet??
There is nothing wrong with profit.
If our government had a bottom line in
the black, there wouldn’t be a problem.
That is what they would LIKE you to do.
Go after business instead of government...
Does that help business.....no.
Does that help government....yes.
No. We already are paying more for inferior coverage to what we had before Hairy Reed, Nasty Pelousy, and Barry Benghazi shoved 0bamacare upon us. “
yup. Our first big jump was 2010. Then this year we had a moderate increase in premiums, with out-of-pocket costs rising to like a catastrophic plan.
“Well, he campaigned on this, Peggy.”
Oddly, a lot of the college-age newly minted voters I know completely missed that. smh
