Well it is the size of Texas, Paul. Britain can fit into Texas 3 times, with some of Texas left over. So if the debris is the size of Texas it is 100% correct that it is 3 times the size of Britain (Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales).

The glass net floats that used to wash up on the Pacific beaches were real treasures for beachcombers. You can still find them in curio shops sometimes, at a price. People used them for yard decorations. Nobody wants the plastic ones that they use now.

So why not just use that “island” to test some nuke?

Remember all those fantasies about moving to a deserted island declaring your own nation? Maybe this is an opportunity for all of us that have decided the U.S, is no longer the bastion of freedom we want to live in.

Purchase some solvents to hold the debris together, add some soil, build some skyscrapers and voila! new country right next door to California with excellent climate. Yeah, it will take some getting used to and we will need to have stringent immigration policies to make sure no liberals can move there (or at least move and vote there).

With some strong seed money, this could be the opportunity we've all hoped for.

A shout of joy just went out by the MSM!

They can talk about this 24/7. Get lots of tape of it washing ashore. Crying children, crying Indians and crying poor.

This kind of media reporting will distract the low information voter for months.

This flotsam should prove a real boon to fish reproduction and as a resting spot for seabirds.

Shouldn’t it be considered a unique animal habitat and pristine, one of a kind natural environment? I say we stabilize it and anchor it just off San Francisco as an aquatic wilderness destination for the enviros to visit.

Big deal, California sucks and it self destructed because it was always moderate to liberal, always anti-social conservative.

Many of us freepers live here, that doesn’t change anything.

My sister/nephew/child comes out gay so I’m supposed to embrace the homosexual agenda? I live in California so I don’t want to mock the stupidest state in the Union?

If Texas treated its citizens as deplorably as California does, I’d say the exact same about it.

Don’t the Japanese have more than one written alphabet, and they use Chinese characters in at least one of their alphabets?

They use Chinese characters, because it's the Chinese alphabet. Japanese people can read Chinese publications. They also have a simpler, distinctly Japanese alphabet for sounding Japanese phonetic syllables. They also created characters for Western objects and sounds. The latter two are easy to learn and write (I studied it in my youth). The Chinese alphabet is difficult (thousands of characters, and most Chinese only know a fraction of the total).

"Maybe they can find a governor in all that crap who might be better than Brown…"

I went to a Tea Party meeting tonight and heard Tim Connelly speak many factual truths! I like him!!!

I'm hoping he can cause a "Brown OUT" for CA!!!
