Skip to comments.Harkin Declares America Liberated from ‘Crappy, Junk Policies’
Posted on 11/06/2013 7:52:52 PM PST by Tailgunner Joe
Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) said its OK if people are losing crappy, junk policies because of Obamacare and pitched for a government-run option in the wake of the problematic start for the exchange.
When we were debating this way back when and trying to figure out how to do all this, a lot of us on the liberal side said, Well, OK, well give something to the states. We`ll let the states set up their own exchanges. Many conservatives wanted to do that. So, we made that agreement. We thought that would be a good idea. So we put it out there. And lo and behold, all these Republican governors who get elected in 2010 and republican legislatures and they dumped it all on the federal government, Harkin said last night on MSNBC.
We never expected that. Had we known that from the beginning, the architecture of setting up the exchanges would have been a lot different. But then they dumped in our last. If you look Im glad you went to Kentucky because Kentucky, Washington, Colorado, Rhode Island, even the District of Columbia where they set up state exchanges, theyre working just fine.
The chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee said the website failures are just a mechanical problem.
Theres nothing wrong with the Affordable Care Act, theres nothing wrong with ObamaCare, we have a problem, yes, and Im upset about it just as everyone else is, but its being fixed. Its a mechanical problem and itll be fixed by the end of this month, Harkin said.
The only problem, he said, is that Obamacare doesnt go far enough.
We need a public option out there. We needed a public option in this program. I fought hard for it. But we didnt get it. And probably from the very beginning, we should set it up as a federal architecture, as a natural architecture, set it up that way, the senator said, adding that states now just want to dump it on the federal government.
Harkin claimed the farmers and the small businesses in Iowa are going to have the kind of health care coverage that theyve never been able to get or afford in the past.
Yes, they might have been able to afford to get some policy but it didnt cover anything. And there was a lot of policies out there that were quite frankly crappy, junk policies. Well now, no more of those junk policies. People will have good, solid policies.
Harkin even predicted youre going to see a lot more entrepreneurs starting small businesses and getting into business because now theyll have health care and health care coverage for their workers which they couldnt have before.
Nothing like that Harkin Steak Fry, what with the crotch salute.
Holy cow..these idiots actually believe their own bull sh*t..they actually believe that Communism is the answer..Id love to see how long Harkin would last on Communist medicine but he’s exempt
Another day, another Democrat lies.
And yet some percentage of America still won’t wake up.
“crappy, junk policies”
I thought he was talking about Obamacare, failure to repel invasion, his homo military, failure to budget, abysmal foreign policy, spendthrift overspending (and on and on).
Yeah, I remember Harkin covering for Slick’s lies back at the close of the 20th century. What a POS.
That would be policies that don't include substance abuse coverage for the non druggies and non winos. Policies which don't include abortion and sex change coverage for those who appreciate what God has given them. Policies which don't include mental health coverage for sane people. And policies which don't include maternity coverage for men. Have I missed anything?
F U T H.
Many families will have to choose between obamaomarxistcare or food.
Eat lead you arsehole!
It’s perfectly fine to opt out of Obamacare by paying the tax penalty, but you will damn sure not buy a plan we deem substandard.
Obamacare is so good, people are forced to buy it. In a free marketplace it would fail.
What the ever loving f**k does an exempt sitting member of Congress know about crappy, junk policies ?
I could be liberated from my commuter car by a BMW 7 series. But I can’t afford the big beamer. So that makes my little car far more valuable.
“crappy junk policies”
Because we’re all too stupid to know what’s best for us
And in 12 short months, Iowa ( and by extension the whole country) can say goodbye to that POS known as Tom Harkin.
I really thought this was another John Semmens piece.
Tom “Dung Heap” Harkin also believes the Constitution is a Crappy, Junk Policy.
I won’t be happy until the day America is liberated from crappy, junk politicians.
You’d almost think that Harkin is a bigger fan of the federal government than of the state he’s tasked to represent.
"Hello you stupid, useless Americans. I'm here from Big Government to tell you what's going to happen. We're implementing this dictatorial, unconstitutional medical plan, and you're going to like it or lump it. We really don't care what you dumb b......ds think about it, or if you were happy with your previous plan. We're going to shove this down your throats. We lied about you not losing your old plan, but we lie about everything anyway. Get used to it. All Power To The Soviets... er I mean All Praise To Obama. Now get lost."
Fox News reported tonight that the latest figure is 4.2 million people have lost their insurance. Sure are a lot of Americans who bought “substandard” plans because they’re too stupid to know how to buy insurance. Or so Harkin and 0bama would have us believe.
Wait’ll they choose our home, our car, your food, your occupation, how many kids you’ll have and your spouse. Then we’ll be just like China which the Obamunists just adore.
Once a dung heap, always a dung heap.
In 12 short months, the citizenry will be thanking the Democrats for saving them from horrible insurance policies and replacing them with obamacare. The media convinced the electorate to re-elect an absolute pile of sh#t. Convincing them of the virtues of the ACA will be child's play in comparison. Mark my words. A country so overwhelmingly this stupid is doomed.
Great Tom, Now a lot of people will have to pick between truly affordable health care and a mortgage payment.
Liberals just love power..and what better way to have total and complete power then to have the ability to decide who lives and who dies..its the ultimate power trip. They really dont care how bad it looks for them politically or how many policies get canceled, the end justifies the means and for them that means single payer health care..that would be the final nail in America’s coffin
Yes, the public is too stupid to buy the proper insurance o cover mental illness, drunkenness, promiscuity, gender switches, birth control, and blah blah, stuff that the majority do not need.
“Substandard” apparently means “Not subsidizing the lifestyles of others”
“Well, gee whiz! These last forty years I had no idea I was getting ripped off by those dirty dog insurance companies.” - Joe American
I checked twice for a sarcasm tag.
what a coward
During the Soviet Revelution the people were liberated from their property and told it was for their own good too.
the Soviet Revolution
just read the headline and thought Harkin announched his retirement...
But he doesn’t want a damn thing to do with it personally. Oh, how I hope I live to see the day when piano wire is in short supply.
Harkin is insane!!!!
probably from the very beginning, we should set it up as a federal architecture, as a natural architecture, set it up that way, the senator said, adding that states now just want to dump it on the federal government.
Sooo, federal architecture is NATURAL ?
And now he’s complaining about the states wanting the
feds to take responsibility for their own screw up?
commies the lot of them
But the problem is here that that Obama is selling you a Yugo, but at the cost of a Beamer, and saying that because you are paying more it must be a Beamer.
Now, if we could just get rid of the “crap, junk” politicians.
Obamacare is a crappy junk policy.
Pretty much, I’m sorry to say.
And hello to Senator-elect Bruce Effin' Braley, who will prove to be Dungheap Junior.
Other than maybe actually owning a home in Iowa and visiting the state once in a while, Iowans won't notice any difference.
