Democrats begin effort to negatively define Chris Christie before 2016 campaign
Washington Post ^ | November 6, 2013 | By Philip Rucker

Top Democratic officials launched a concerted offensive Wednesday to define New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in a negative light, believing that he has emerged from his reelection landslide as the Republican Party’s strongest potential presidential contender for 2016.

Democratic strategist Steve Murphy said Christie is “the strongest candidate” for Republicans against former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton, who will be the overwhelming favorite for the Democratic nomination if she chooses to run. He said Democrats would be wise to highlight Christie’s conservatism on economic issues.

Hopefully, he will not get that far. First, let us get through 2014.

If he ever got a nomination they’d turn on him in a flash.

I did elaborate.

He is not a conservative. He’s like Bloomberg, Mayor of NYC. Does anyone realize Bloomberg is a republican?

Christie wants to run for prez as a conservative who can win New Jersey. Mathematically impossible. He didn’t run as a conservative. If he does run for prez as a conservative, he’d lose NJ and everyone else, whom he underestimates, but who would never buy his conservatism.

RE :”Christie wants to run for prez ...”

That's a long ways off and as 2011 (equiv to 2015) showed lots of Republicans showing up to play act candidate to get attention.

And others who were called didnt show up.

We got 2014 to worry about.

POTUS pre-primary is the silly season.

RE :”Those same people just voted for Cory Booker.”

But that's the thing.
Christie has taken a number of positions that progressives hate and has kept NJ from becoming a single party monarchy as : NY, MD(where I live), CA, MA... are now. Its like Giuliani as Mayor of NYC. He really made it better to live there. Like day and night.

If you are not a lib and in NJ then you are grateful for that.

Yet the Dems need him for the time being.

Hey, it’s not my idea. It was all over the airwaves this afternoon and out of Christies mouth at his acceptance speech.

“Those same people just voted for Cory Booker.”

And for largely the same reasons.

Christie works for NJ. He does a good job for them. It’s not my idea, nor even Levin’s, Beck’s, Hannity’s, nor Rush’s that he is not a conservative and can’t run successfully as such for prez. It’s HIS.

He can stick to NJ politics, who cares. It is He who runs with the idea that this is a step toward the presidential race.

So, if you want to keep it to NJ politics, you are talking to the wrong person. Talk to him.

I’m not buying this. The Democrats want Christie to be the Republican nominee, and they will do all they can to help that come to pass. The media will handle him with kid gloves, like they did McCain, right up until he gets the nomination, and then they will turn on him. Watch and see. We are going get so tired of hearing about Christie this, and Christie that, and all Republicans should be like Christie, and Christie is a conservative, and Christie is a moderate, and Christie has the Hispanic vote, and the independent vote. Even Ann Coulter will be fawning all over him again. Christie will be able to do no wrong until he wins the nomination, and then he will become the devil incarnate.

Its Christies idea that he's too liberal to run for POTUS?

Why would that get you upset?
