UNION CITY Gov. Chris Christie today credited long-standing relationships built on trust for his decisive win of more than 50 percent of the Hispanic vote and said he wont let presidential politics distract him from his second term priorities.
Even as he dismissed 2016 talk, the Republican governor pointed out how his win could serve as a model for other campaigns.
We won the Latino vote last night, Christie said before a backdrop of students at Jose Marti Freshman Academy. Find another Republican whos won the Latino vote recently. Why? Its about the relationships.
Echoing the theme of his acceptance speech, Christie said politicians cant expect to win votes by showing up in communities six months before an election. Christie will officially take over as chairman of the Republican Governors Association in two weeks and could apply his vision to the 2014 races.

What a doofus.
We are big gov’t and we’re here to help.
He can do the same thing as the GOP candidate after he promises them citizenship and lots of free goodies.
How many Hispanics are in NJ anyway?
Christie will be the chairman of the Republican Governors association.
It’s a big job needing a big man. Vice-chairman: a bucket of chicken.
Why are we putting pictures of him being fat? We laughed at liberals for doing that when Christie was acting conservative. There are better and more substantive ways we can criticize him as he acted like a liberal and saved Obama’s bacon during and after hurricane Sandy.

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
bump
Do you like movies about gladiators? Have you ever been in a Turkish prison?
What is his waist size anyway? It’s gotta be in the sixties.
I’ve heard that his staff keeps fit by jogging around him ...
The bag of lard is right on one thing, the GOP needs Hispanic and black voters. We would have won Virginia easy if blacks did not split for Democrats 95% to 5%. We cannot win as a party of white men. Women, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Jews, Muslims, homosexuals etc. are reaching sufficient numbers to make us a regional party of the deep South. All resources must be channeled towards winning over atleast some of these groups. Visible minority conservatives like Jindal and West are a good start.
Shaddup and go troll over at DU.
christie is neither republican nor democrat. He is himself and himself alone. He is loyal to no one and considers himself above it all. He can appease latinos and muslims all he wants in NJ, but step into the arena and the heat will melt him.

Alinsky Rule #5: Ridicule is mans most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.”

Re: “How many Hispanics are in NJ anyway?”
New Jersey Hispanics - 18.5% of the population, 1.64 million.
Probably a deceptive number - I believe the Census Bureau counts Green Cards plus illegal immigrants.
More than 100,000 Cubans live in New Jersey, so that would push the Hispanic vote a bit more to Christie.
In the election, Hispanics represented 9% of total votes.
New Jersey is a long way from most of everywhere else.
What happens there is about as relevant to Kansans as Kanye’s twitter account.
You can’t extrapolate a mainstream America victory from Jersey.
Alaska, perhaps.
No...it's about his support for in-state tuition for illegals, and refusal to fight ObamaCare, which Hispanics support at twice the rate of Whites.
Meaning what exactly?
