UNION CITY — Gov. Chris Christie today credited long-standing relationships built on trust for his decisive win of more than 50 percent of the Hispanic vote and said he won’t let presidential politics distract him from his second term priorities.
Even as he dismissed 2016 talk, the Republican governor pointed out how his win could serve as a model for other campaigns.
“We won the Latino vote last night,” Christie said before a backdrop of students at Jose Marti Freshman Academy. “Find another Republican who’s won the Latino vote recently. Why? It’s about the relationships.”
Echoing the theme of his acceptance speech, Christie said politicians can’t expect to win votes by showing up in communities six months before an election. Christie will officially take over as chairman of the Republican Governors Association in two weeks and could apply his vision to the 2014 races.

The Latinos who turned out voted for Christie by a slight margin in a sample poll they took. In off years they turn out at a lower rate. Also the ones who turn out may be more informed than the masses in the presidential years.

Christie is a big spending RINO and is not touching any of the entititlements. Just attacking teachers and certain government workers that everyone hates white or brown.

I don’t know if they’re just plain stupid or naïve. Ask any illegal, if you can get them to admit they’re illegal, if they want to become citizens and everyone of them will say no. Why would they volunteer to pay taxes when they’re getting all the benefits without paying them?

The black vote just lost us Virginia. The hispanic vote is starting to make a difference in the Sotuhwest. There certainly needs to be an outreach to minorities and active recruitment of conservative minority candidates, just without compromise of basic conservative principles like national sovereignty with hispanics, or gun rights with blacks.
That he is legitimately pro-life, and can win 60% of the vote in a blue state should be inspiring for conservatives. He deserves scorn based on some of his policies, but conservatives should look closely at him to learn how to talk directly to the people, not be obsequious to the press, and campaign smartly.

Look, it is not written in the stars that black people and Hispanics must vote Democrat until the end of the world. Blacks were Republicans for a century, Hispanics come from many nations that have vibrant conservative movements (think the Cubans who fled Castro). Why is it so impossible to turn them to our side? Conservative policies are good for everybody, you wouldn’t have 75% black illegitimacy if common sense conservative values held sway.
You do not need to pander, look at Martinez, Jindal, West, non of them perfect but certainly overall conservative and able to be elected in both liberal and conservative states. It is doable.

Christi is only popular in the Northeast States that are BLUE, so it’s easy to understand why the MSM keeps touting him as the GOP nominee for ‘16. He doesn’t stand a chance in Middle America, Texas or the South.
I’m really tired of seeing the GOP trot out lame candidates, like Romney, now maybe Christi, Santorem, Ryan, Daniels, etc., from the Northern States. They don’t understand a damn thing about what the rest of the country (minus the Pacific States) considers important.
Amongst the dems you have a Illinois transplant, Arkansas, Georgia, and Missouri.

Blacks and Hispanics are never going to turn the tide for us. You can do all the outreach you want, and you may get a few, but the majority are going to stick fast with the Dem party for the entitlements. A hard truth, but there it is.
I'll never support someone politically based on his race or ethnicity. I don't pander, and I don't get excited everytime someone comes along who happens to be black and conservative, as though we have a new pet to adopt. Allen West and Ted Cruz happen to be two of the few politicians worth anything these days, IMO, but it's because of their positions on the issues and their uncompromising strength. West's race and Cruz's last name are irrelevant to me.
Besides, look at blacks' reaction to West and Herman Cain. They hold them in utter contempt---detest them. Why do we keep believing a black conservative will win over minorities when experience tells us otherwise? And the same is true of our women, like Sarah Palin. Liberal women go insane with hatred over them.
You're also wrong about the reasons for the Virginia loss. I live here; I know. The reasons Cuccinelli didn't make it were 1) the scum in the RNC who deprived him of funding, and 2) women. No, not women.....tramps, floozies, tarts, and assorted other suspect characters with whom I unfortunately share a gender. They're nothing but walking, talking genitalia, obsessed with abortion and birth control, and so mind-numbingly stupid that they bought into the fearmongering about Cuccinelli.
