Obama, McCain to huddle on immigration strategy and other issues
The Hill ^ | November 7, 2013 | Alexander Bolton with Justin Sink

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) will meet with President Obama at the White House Thursday afternoon to plot strategy for passing comprehensive immigration reform.

McCain said Obama requested the meeting, which comes at a time political momentum for immigration reform is flagging.

McCain and Obama need to shore up the support of wavering allies such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who has backed off the push to overhaul the nation's immigration laws in a 1,200-page comprehensive bill.

Rubio has said the Senate should not try to merge its comprehensive bill with a piecemeal measure coming out of the House.

McCain's ally, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), has predicted there will be more Republican support for immigration reform after the filing deadlines for Republican primaries in 2014.

Graham, who is facing his own primary threat in South Carolina, said he will not attend Thursday's meeting between McCain and Obama. A White House official confirmed the president's meeting with McCain would occur at 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon, but stressed the two would "discuss a broad range of issues" — not just immigration.

Every time I see something like this I am reminded of a South Park episode where obama and mccain joined forces to help o win the presidential election. Some times I wonder....

The worst thing that could have ever happened to the United States of America, is if John McCain was elected President in 2008.

Obama is horrid, but McCain would have been slightly worse, and damaged the image of Republicans for seven generations.

Mc has truly gone over to the dark side.

McCain has been there for years.

Welcome to Keating Economics: John McCain and a Financial Crisis: 9 AM PST

This is the story that the media refuses to mention. With the economic meltdown that we are witnessing, shouldn't the media be reminding the American people that John McCain was involved in the Keating 5 scandal?

The house should refuse to vote on immigration until after the election.

Sure they should, but they won't. Maybe we should begin to wonder why, but we likely won't.

They are not moronic, they have a different agenda than you do, way past time for us to accept that.

Really, Arizona? An infomercial was disqualification for office, but collaborating with the enemy is perfectly acceptable? Really?

Laz , I had that figured a long time ago, In fact the first time Mc Lame opened his mouth in politics. However he used to make occasional trips back to sanity but no more, he just needs to change his affiliation to a D as in rat and get back on his meds.

There is time to get to Republican Senators and encourage them to vote present because there is no point in taking a stand on a controversial bill that has no hope of passing the Senate. It would just provide a divisive distraction for the Obamaites.

Rand Paul’s immigration speech
03.19.13 | Hon Sen Rand Paul (KY)
Posted on 03/19/2013 7:04:07 AM PDT by Perdogg

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
[but he’s not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
