Mitch McConnell at War
nationalreview.com ^ | 11/8/13 | Jonathan Strong

enate minority leader Mitch McConnell likes to say, “If someone flicks a pebble at you, you hurl a boulder back at him.” His political team is just as emphatic. Some Republicans in Kentucky who flirted with working for his primary opponent, Matt Bevin, were told by the McConnell allies that they would get the “death penalty.” Another frequent warning: “Mitch McConnell doesn’t take prisoners.”

McConnell’s team “shoots the wounded on the battlefield as a matter of course,” says University of Virginia professor Larry Sabato. A former GOP leadership aide who has seen the McConnell operation up close sounds terrified. “They’re all killers,” he says, without a trace of humor in his voice. “These are not guys to be trifled with. They are burn it down, p*** on it, then blow it up kind of guys.”

AdvertisementAnd it’s not a secret. The New York Times reported that the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) was blacklisting a GOP ad firm, Jamestown Associates, for working with the Senate Conservative Fund (SCF), which is helping Bevin. Privately, McConnell aides acknowledge that it was McConnell who had Jamestown blacklisted for cutting ads that the SCF ran in Kentucky. McConnell’s former chief of staff, Josh Holmes, spoke to the Times, offering a dark analogy: “The SCF has been wandering around the country destroying the Republican Party like a drunk who tears up every bar they walk into. The difference this cycle is that they strolled into Mitch McConnell’s bar, and he doesn’t throw you out, he locks the door.” Holmes, who is now heading McConnell’s campaign committee, later confirmed on Twitter that his quote alluded to a scene in A Bronx Tale in which a group of mafiosos savagely beat members of a biker gang who vandalized their bar

McConnell will rain hellfire on his REPUBLICAN opponent, but will be all nicey nicey with his DEMOCRAT opponent.

I usually aim for clever and/or original commentary but **** McConnell.

He’s too clever by half and inadvertently quite ‘transparent.’

History is not kind to double agents and cowards and he should be turfed out ASAP.

Killers where conservatives are concerned. Pussy cats when it comes to getting rolled by democrats.

I despise these RINO jerks as much as I do democrats.

McConnell is a career criminal of the same kind of democrat who needs to swing before this is over.

Or... form the Tea Party.

If that is the choice, it needs to happen soon, so we have a chance to build a real competitive party.

One or the other.

Somebody in the press needs to note the GOP isn’t blacklisting those “Republicans” that endorsed or worked for Team Clinton in VA. That is quite a contrast to Loser McConnell’s carpet bombing of conservatives and worthy of further investigation.

Has this old fool, mcconnell, spent one ounce of his apparent anger fending off LIBs/DIMs? No. What a degenerate.

Website to contribute is: http://www.senateconservatives.com/

This sounds like some BS intimidation piece. I’d love to get in on this and school McConman’s team with some old fashioned union thug campaigning.

Time for a REALITY check, Mitch:

1.) What have you ever done to reverse the steamrolling success against the US Constitution and the US Congress of B. Hussein Obama and Harry Reid?

2.) Has Harry Reid ever thanked you for coming up with your “Continuing Resolutions” to bypass the need to have a Federal Spending Budget for 5 years?

IIRC SCR is run by DeMint and Heritage. Heritage advertises on Rush. If I had to choose to whom to hitch my financial wagon, Rush would win over the dying RINO GOP.

I guess Rand Paul figures he no longer needs the Kentucky Tea Party voters who helped him beat the McConnell machine in 2010. I think Rand Paul owes the Tea Party and, accordingly, should support Matt Bevin in his bid to unseat McConnell.

Rand is busy trying to burrow his “libertarian” ideas into the GOPe. He talks a good game but is just trying to be on all sides of every issue. You will never see him on the conservative side when the chips are down in a battle with the GOPe because he wants to be in the $$$ club.

I read this and thought oh my, why would that stupid eff do something so stupid as to try and damn up the Tea Party dollars. I sent money to Bevin. I strongly suggest we don’t Cuccinelli Bevin and send money, lots of it.

People in KY are so uninformed that they think McC is “conservative”. The word has been used for years to refer to McC. KY people just don’t understand very much.

Rand is afraid to take on McC. But Cruz won’t take on Cornball either. They would say “discretion is the better part of valor”.

KY people like the “go along, get along” types, but Rand upsets that image. Rand’s rhetoric may be at odds with his reality too.
