Idaho has become the latest state in which same-sex couples are seeking to have the right of marriage, after two couples that married elsewhere joined two couples who want to wed and filed suit against the state on Friday.
The suit, supported by the National Center for Lesbian Rights in San Francisco, was filed in U.S. District Court against Idaho Gov. C.L "Butch" Otter and Chris Rich, the clerk in Ada County, where the couples were denied marriage licenses.
Idahos constitution was amended in 2006 to include a provision that heterosexual marriage is the only legal form of the union. The state is one of 34 to have some form of legal prohibition against same-sex marriage. Fourteen states plus the District of Columbia presently allow same-sex couples to wed.
The current wave of legislation and lawsuits has been spurred by the Supreme Courts decision in June to strike down parts of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, which had limited federal recognition to marriages of one man and one woman.
The Idaho suit covers those who were married elsewhere and want their nuptials to be legally recognized, as well as those seeking to wed.

Idaho is in the Ninth Circuit and that whenthis case goes to appeals, the Ninth will rule against the state.
This is just so unfair.
The ultimate goal is to implement homosexual marriage nationwide, which means that states’ ban on said “marriages” will be voided.
This is tyranny pure and simple. Idaho should simply refuse to comply. Remind everyone that each state is sovereign, and the federal government’s power over it is limited ONLY to what is outlined in the constitution.
F THE FEDS!
Our Governor's already said he'll sign it, it's as good as "law" here.
It is literally disgusting what this country is coming to. Everything that's moral and right and good the State says is evil, and everything that's immoral, amoral and wrong is somehow "right."
I used to think that people who said we're living in the end times were nuts, I don't think they are anymore.
So ....... the People of the State of Idaho, are to grab their ankles, collectively, for a new law to be bent, for “Bob and Jane and Ted and Alice and Roger and Sue and Jim and Georgine” (Don’t forget the program, as to whom is with whom)?
This is the nightmare case.
We will have the Ninth using the DOMA decision and Full Faith and Credit Clause to tell tell states they must recognize gay marriages from New York, California, DC, Minnesota, Illinois, Hawaii, Vermont, and Iowa.
I’m going to sue over the ban on going over the speed limit. It’s not fair to me - I want to speed.
I’m going to sue over the ban on murder. It’s not fair to me - I’d like to end some folks.
I’m going to sue over the ban on theft. It’s not fair to me - I want to get a free ride.
we could go places on that machine
looks like we are going to boise
I think this battle is lost. We might as well get used to it.
i aint licked yet
Those that celebrate homosexuality are celebrating very specific behavior; behavior independent of love.
Even if they get it in all "57" states it will never be enough. They love being victims, getting in our face, and whining.
Don't even want to speculate on what the next goal is.
lawsuits can’t overturn something in the state constitution. it is not just a mere law.
One state at a time for the gay mafia.
The major goal is to allow group marriage, with any number of partners, any gender of partners. They don’t want to stop at polygamy, they want “polyamory”, which is group marriage.
Unfortunately, with liberal judges, and society becoming more liberal on these issues, there will be no stopping it. First comes homosexual marriage, then polygamy, then group marriage.
Some on the left even advocate adult/child marriage or relationships. That could even happen down the road.
To any who think what I’ve just written is absurd, just ask yourselves — 20 years ago, would you ever have believed that homosexual marriage would be legal and celebrated in the media and by liberal politicians?? If liberals are the ones who make the decisions, either legislatively or forcing it down our throats through the courts, anything is possible. Marriage and family law as we have known it is dissolving.
A marriage amendment should have been passed way back during the Bush administration.
