US Removing Navy From Mid-East As Russia Enters

The American aircraft carrier USS Nimitz was recalled from the Persian Gulf on Friday, along with the destroyer USS Graveley from the Mediterranean Sea. The move comes less than a week after Russia sent its most powerful warships to the Mediterranean.

Al Jazeera reports the Nimitz moved through the Suez Canal into the Red Sea, and is anticipated to reach the US in late December. It was scheduled to return in August but was left in the region for a military presence.

The US ships were assigned to the region months ago as US President Barack Obama considered a military strike on Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime. On Friday the US Defense Department announced their removal, signalling the Obama administration's total abandonment of a Syrian military option.

The move further signals a weakening of US military presence in the Middle East, precisely as Russia stands to heighten its influence.

Following cooling American relations with both Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit Egypt later this month, which many see as an attempt to replace America's role as military provider to the country. America partially froze military aid to Egypt after former President Mohammed Morsi was deposed.

Putin is expected to announce an arms deal during his visit, which coincides with earlier reports of a 15 billion dollar arms deal in the works for Egypt, partially funded by Saudi Arabia.

Not surprised since Obama gave the Middle East to Russia when he wanted to go to war in Syria...

A planned evolution so it’s not exactly slinking away. I guess bammy is satisfied that Pooty’s Syria solution is working and there’s no need for the stick.

The retreat is not from Free World leadership. The retreat is from the Free World, period.

Soviet America is there already. The genocides will follow as night follows day.

“Brave Sir Obama ran away.
Bravely ran away, away!
When danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Obama turned about
And gallantly he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his feet
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Sir Obama!” —

0muslim’s islamic/muslim calpihate agenda continues. I wonder when Pooty-Poot will decide he’s outnumbered 1,000,000-to-1, and will begin to remove his forces, too. He’s got gas and oil lines to Europe to get in-place first, and ‘alliances’ with murderous, subhuman islamic/muslim filth to get inked with blood, next.

Putin doesn’t think like that—he will stand up to the Islamic nut cases! A little bloody force and they will fold—they can’t be intimidated with bad PR and good sound bites—they can wallow in blood and come up smiling. The islamic people fear the Russians in a way they detest the weak Americans. he wants those warm water ports, power in the middle east—and the suez canal. Russia will keep a tight iron fist on them but he will back up the Copts and Nestorians and orthodox Christians in the area. The future of Israel might well be decided in Moscow!

Then how come Putin arms the mass-murderer Bashir in Sudan and helps him kill Christians? How come he arms Hizballah to kill Israelis? How come he arms the Ayatollahs?

Putin kisses muslim ass. He's a piece of crap.

Seems you're fond of repeating that lately. Second time I've seen you say that tonight. You got a plan, if your nightmare prediction comes true?

Yes it is. I was wondering when Russia would move on its prophesied leadership role in that region. It’s stunning to watch. A fearful time ahead for those not fully trusting in Christ.

Something’s wrong with this article.

It says that the Nimitz was recalled from the Persian Gulf, moved through Suez into the Red Sea and was heading home.

From the Persian Gulf you have to go THROUGH the Red Sea to get to Suez.

And Nimitz is a Pacific-based carrier. If she’s heading home she’ll head East through the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Won’t go anywhere near the Red Sea.

If the story mixed up the Persian Gulf with the Med, then it makes sense. She moved from the Med through Suez into the Red Sea on her way home. Possibly from a Persian Gulf deployment that saw her moved into the Med? Possibly in anticipation of the strikes on Syria that didn’t happen?

Ok, checked on where the carriers are

Looks like there are three out right now. Nimitz, on her way home. Truman, just took up station in the Northern Arabian Gulf. Washington, WestPac cruise out of Japan.

Also looks like we're short a couple decks. Enterprise is out of the rotation, inactivated and being defueled. Roosevelt isn't back to full operational capability yet following her mid-life refueling. Other decks under overhaul or conducting workups/acting as surge capacity.

In all likelihood we're in the same position that we were in when the attack on Libya started: too few decks to keep one in the Med. So there's probably an LHD out there filling in with a Harrier-based light-strike capability.
