Happy 238th Birthday Marines: A message from the Commandant of the Marine Corps
Daily Caller ^ | November 10, 2013

Posted on 11/10/2013 10:21:33 AM PST by Brad from Tennessee

For 238 years, The United States Marine Corps has proudly served our great Nation with unfailing valor – bolstered by the enduring fortitude of our fellow Marines, our families, and our friends. This is why each year on November 10th, Marines from all generations gather together, in groups large and small, to celebrate the birthday of our Corps and to reflect on the proud legacy and warrior ethos we share. This is what unites us as Marines. From our first battle at New Providence to today in Afghanistan, Marines have always shown that they were made of tougher stuff – that when the enemy’s fire poured in from all angles, and the situation was grim, Marines unequivocally knew that their fellow Marines would stay behind their guns, fight courageously, and drive the enemy from the battlefield. We have always known hardship, fatigue, and pain…but we have never known what it is to lose a battle!

Marine of generations past built our reputation as the most disciplined and honorable warriors to ever set foot on a battlefield, and we have triumphed in every battle because our Corps has always focused on iron discipline and combat excellence. . .

Happy birthday, USMC!

(And when I use the term “jarhead,” it is always with affection).

Happy Birthday Marines!

I wish all of you the best and hope for the best possible birthday present: a new Commandant - one that wasn't picked by Rahm Emmanuel.

From the bottom of my heart to the Corps, whose honor and integrity formed the grit of the many Marine veterans that have instructed me in the mindset of Christ. Among them were Dr. Bill Behrens (evangelist, recently passed away, discharged as GySgt, I believe) and Dr. Chuck Cofty (evangelist, currently active in ministry, ret. as Maj, I believe). Bro. Cofty's motto: "The Cross above The Corps!" That makes the demands of bearing the Cross quite high in priority, I suspect.

Also remembering my nephew Lt. Col. Thomas J. Beikirch, USMC; and the mother of his children Maj. Pamela Beikirch, USMCR; now both posted to Quantico Marine base.

To all those who have served, served until retirement, and to those who stepped froward, and are serving now:
First, Happy Birthday!
SEcond, a big thank you from “a propellerhead”, formerly stationed at the only B-52(d) land base in theater, RTNAF U-Tapao, home of the 307th Bomb Wing, ca. 1971 - 1974.

Lastly, a raised cup of Joe, for Chesty Puller!

If we are to keep our honor clean, Jim Amos must resign his Commandancy, which he has disgraced by his treachery toward a brother Marine. Happy Birthday to all who remain Semper Fidelis...

If someone spots my cover, or I am wearing my vest and someone thanks me for my service I tell them it was my priviledge .

I raise my glass in remembrance of all my Brothers who gave the last full measure, or today still carry the scars and pains earned while defending freedom and fighting evil.

In God we trust.....Semper Fi

On the day the Marines were founded, the National Guard had already been protecting Americans for 139 years.

Happy second birthday Marines.

(before and during WWI the Marine Corps birthday was July 1834, when they were authorized regulations. Prior to that they were a temporary service, which used Army regulations ashore and Navy regulations afloat.

I almost used the term “Jarhead” earlier today but decided not to. Glad to see it, and when I use it, it is affectionately also.

Amos wouldn't know what combat looked like if they dropped his sorry ass into the middle of a firefight. Everything he knows about it is from a manual or overhearing conversations at the 0club.

Happy Birthday Marines.
