Two Navy admirals suspended amid mushrooming bribery, prostitution scandal
Washington Times ^ | 11/10/13 | Kristina Wong -

The Navy has suspended two admirals in a broadening bribery scandal that already has ensnared three senior naval officials.

Involving charges of prostitution and payoffs, the scandal is the U.S. military’s highest-profile case of officer misconduct this year — part of a trend that has caused deep concern among Pentagon officials. The number of substantiated cases of misconduct has increased steadily since 2008, according to statistics by the Defense Department’s inspector general.

The Navy is investigating Vice Adm. Ted Branch, director of naval intelligence, and Rear Adm. Bruce Loveless, director of intelligence operations, on accusations of “illegal and improper relations” with a defense contractor who scammed the Navy of millions of dollars and bribed naval officials with hookers and gifts over several years.

Neither admiral has been charged with a crime or violation, but the Navy said the accusations against them involve “inappropriate conduct prior to their current assignments and flag officer rank.”

So far, three Navy officials have been arrested and charged with giving classified information to Malaysian defense contractor Leonard Glenn Francis in exchange for concert tickets, prostitutes and other illicit gifts.

We officially sanction sexual perversion in the military, and what do we get? More sexual perversion. Who is surprised?

In his never ending haste to reduce and/or eliminate all military leadership in this country, I see the VERY HIG POSSIBILITY of the entire things being a “set-up” by odumbo and his people. NOTHING they do would surprise me and certainly this topic falls directly into their methods.

It's an on-going purge by the Obama admin. to replace the military brass with left wingers loyal not to the constitution, but the party. The charges are fake or exaggerated. There will be no trial to expose the truth, however.

The article cites "sexual assaults" on the rise in the services. I wonder when Obama's military will release breakdown figures of heterosexual vs. homosexual assaults.

Probably never.

If you are an Admiral there are rules you have to follow in contracting whereas if you are a Sec of HHS any old Friends of Obama are fine, especially if they are bundlers.

These numbskulls need to be out of there toute suite

Even back in the days when I was a JAG we had classes on not taking any favors from anyone, don’t get into debt because you can be blackmailed, don’t whore around because you can be compromised. These boys are so effing stupid.

Or, they were taking improper bribes and gifts. That might be a possibility as well.

The charges are fake or exaggerated.

That has crossed my mind too. But, why then hasn't a single retired general or admiral called a press conference and spoken up?

A retired three or four star general speaking out would have quite an impact. Yeah, I know about their deference to civilian control and all that, but if the problem is really that serious someone with weight should be saying something.

Too bad they didn’t have “Innocent until proven guilty” when you were a JAG. Did not the Code of Military Justice include that rule?

I have a suspicion that you posted that to the wrong person. I have never been a JAG. However, I have been accused of jagging around (Western Pennsylvania slang).

Nazis used to love the “sexual deviancy” excuse for removing opponents from power.

The admirals and generals of the military of The United States come from the people of The United States. There is no Sparta-like camp where we send our young people to become warriors. They come from us.
