Here are my favorites (not that the others aren’t no one’s business but the individual)
1. Aspirin use to prevent cardiovascular disease for men and women of certain ages
— YOU CAN’T BUY A BOTTLE OF ASPIRIN!!!
2. obesity screening
— CALLED ‘STAND ON THE SCALE’ DOOFUS!
I have intentionally NEVER bought a Cadillac. I have always purchased cars based on utility and price.
I have a pickup for working around my mini-farm
I have a high mpg car for drives to the city.
I have a tractor because I need a tractor.
I don’t need pregnancy anything on my family plan. My kids are in their 30’s, and barring a miracle of Abraham/Sarah dimensions, there aren’t any more coming along.
I hope we can kill it, but I’m POSITIVE the Gop-E is in favor of it.
Im thinking the GOP E....may need to have the FEAR OF GOD,,,drummed into them
Im thinking that a MASS OUTPOURING of feet on the ground in the streets og WASHINGTON....is the ONLY WAY to get this done.
WE THE PEOPLE are the only hope we have.
Cruz agrees with you. He says a tsunami of people will change this. I agree. It’s mobilizing those people that’s the problem.
all poison pills. Please go to court. We can win this. Just need a Plaintiff, congress, whomever
Many of the "absurd" things on the list are things which insurance companies typically cover, for reasons I will point out in a moment. The absurdity lies not there, but in banning the very useful and popular catastrophic-only policies (which even leftist journalists who used to work for MSNBC support because they are desirable for anyone who is reasonably healthy and at all fiscally responsible).
Some of the "absurd" items actually are, because they are not covering a contingency, but a choice. The main effect of the contraceptive mandate is to raise the cost of policies by the cost of contraceptives plus the administrative overhead generated by the need to process additional claims for their purchase.
On the other hand, other items on the list have been commonly covered by health insurance policies because there is a sound actuarial reason for covering them: encouraging people to buy them cuts estimated cost of claims paid overall (smoking cessation programs and immunizations being notable examples).
Had they wanted the law to actually work, they would have consulted actuaries and would have defined the "Bronze" plan to be more or less a catastrophic-only policy plus coverage for an annual physical with some minor attendant lab work, and those items of the sort on the "absurd" list in the article which actuarially would pay for themselves in reduced claims at the catastrophic level, and allowed employers to offer the same.
Healthcare insurance in this country is like cable TV subscriptions. There’s no menu option. All or nothing.
This article had me until this:
“7) Those who show up at an Emergency Room without health insurance would be treated, but then sanctioned criminally. Probably pay a fine or do community service. Multiple offenders risk jail time (like deadbeat dads). That takes care of the Emergency Room problem. Its a requirement that everyone have some kind of health insurance done the right way.”
Jail people for going to the ER without health insurance?! there is no ‘right say’ for the gov’t to impose a ‘requirement that everyone have some kind of health insurance.’
They mandated that I have Man-turnity care coverage in case I ever get pregnants.
The company I work for are analyzing the benefits of continuing our insurance or making a wage adjustment to cover obamacare. But the way they analyze means i should be covered until 2035. At a recent meeting the bosses wife made a comment after he had left the room that caused a pregnant silence. It made me think maternity insurance would be a good thing.
Do you have to ask for these “screenings” and “treatments” or will you get them whether you want them or not?
This whole plan is designed for call in sick for any and all screenings, just like in the army... and government will make sure it will not deliver or delay.
I am sure company boss will not be able to fire you for a breast exam... I can hear the feminists mobilizing their lawyers. This is a get out of work ticket.
That is just so wrong on so many levels.
If the government can poke and prod your portals, they’d have so much more fun doing it over your objections.
They’ll probably develop a “Screening Swat Team” with their own doc. Busting down doors at midnight and taking samples, my man.
Prepare your prostate now for forced testing backed up by 5.56.
“Well-woman visits to get recommended services for women under 65”
How about some well-women visits for the guys?
That's none of the government's effing business.
——Breast Cancer Genetic Test Counseling (BRCA)for women at higher risk for breast cancer——
As a man, I can sleep like a baby knowing I am covered for this very very expensive test...
ObamaCare Subscriptions to E Harmony.com or Match.com? LOL.
If you go to the ER without insurance you should just get a bill — plain and simple. If you don’t pay the bill, you go to jail. Case closed.
Those 72 items (demands) are specifically included, to drive private insurance companies out of the pool of health care insurers.
You can’t provide all that and stay in business. You’ll have to raise your rates so high, most folks will have to drop out, you will be unable to sell your policies and single payer becomes the only thing left.
Calling this debacle “ObamaCare” obscures the massive irony in the actual title: The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. So are we as a nation better protected? Are costs lower?
Voters need to ask themselves:
1. When your insurance was cancelled due to the democrats’ law, did that make you feel “protected”?
2. When you are forced to pay many times more for policies with a higher deductable, did that make care more “affordable”?
3. Who did this to us?
4. Who had the foresight to oppose it?
Fluoride Chemoprevention supplements for children without fluoride in their water source
Sebelius IS Joseph Mengala
plus this isn’t insurance, it’s pre-paid medical.
Insurance is meant to protect people when something catastrophic happens. Insurance is not $5 copays on well checks.
Josef Mengele, The Angel Of Death
This is primary effect of zerOcare. Health insurance goes from a pre-tax business expense for some, to an after-tax expense for all.
Depression screening for adults: they’re called taxpayers.
I think if we want to pick this article apart we are falling for precisely what it is the scammers in the roles of leadership are wanting of us. They want us to focus on just such a list as this author provided to further divert us from the fact this isn’t about healthcare, but about control.
OBAMACARE is about setting the precedent that will in one way or another prevail in the favor of the Leftist’s, the Marxist’s so ‘H’ bent on ruling the World.
Much of this coverage is about problems that can easily be avoided with something called self-responsibility. Drug counseling, Hep B, HIV, Chlamydia, diet counseling, contraceptives, morning after pill, smoking cessation.
Yes, and don’t forget how the U.S.S.R. abused the mental health issue during the cold war.
Why should hospital bills be any different from other bills? People don’t go to jail if they can’t (or don’t) pay their bills.
What? No gender reassignment surgery? There must be some mistake. Calling Nancy Pelosi.
How about that health care must be provided in 160 different languages other than English.
This is the purest form of stupidity that ever existed. Why is anyone even discussing how we implement this disaster? The American people have been lied to, and the perpetrators need to be held accountable.
How do these people face themselves and their children everyday?
Not the America I know.
Dummies will still blame the evil Republicans regardless. At least I have one convert at work. He’s all quiet now about Obamacare.
While I agree with you that we should always question their motives, I think it’s important for our fellow citizens to see some of the absurd things that are required to be in EVERY policy.
WHY should maternity be in the policy of EVERY American?
Why should ASPIRIN be paid for by insurance AND required in every policy?
If you’re a reckless driver, then you should have to have that kind of car insurance, but I’m not, and the government shouldn’t be requiring me to have it.
If you like fragrance in your car, then go buy it, you shouldn’t have the government requiring it in EVERY car insurance policy.
This kind of nonsense is exactly what opens peoples’ eyes sometimes about the difference between too much government and a government that only handles essential items for governments. When they start thinking along those lines, then it’s possible that good can follow close behind.
I don’t think it isn’t working.
It’s working grandly to blow back in the Dems’ faces!!
Those evil Republicans didn’t stop the evil Democrats from being too evil :-)
Perhaps at the outset, when the thing was just a plan and a piece of legislation. Now that the roll-out has produced a catastrophic fail of truly epic proportions, accompanied by almost universal ridicule, NOBODY wants to be associated with it, particularly nobody running for re-election in the midterms. It's only the Obama-worshipping denizens of the media, with their desperate search to find any miniscule silver lining in this massive black cloud, who have anything remotely positive to say about it.
It is true that some people don’t have the money to pay for any kind of health insurance. Especially if there are dependents involved, that’s an important issue. Some people — many irresponsible — will never get there.
The Good Samaritan type coverage in emergency rooms for that kind of thing was not necessary, but I understood it, and in the context of a Good Samaritan, I was willing to go along with it.
It got abused and got crazy.
At least they should have been tracking individual abusers by SSN, so they could modify to deny emergency room care.
Without something as harsh as the threat of jail time, you're giving hospitals no other choice but to: (1) require uninsured patients to pay cash or post a bond up front, or (2) close down.
That's OK, neither does the Government.
I am not even sure what really qualifies as a GOP-E anyhow. I guess that’s GOP lite or something. Dunno. Hard to be as demented as a modern Democrat.
