Europe Loses Trust in Obama
The Wall Street Journal ^ | November12,2013 | JOHN VINOCUR

Posted on 11/12/2013 11:33:03 AM PST by Hojczyk

What's novel here is that in Europe, doubts about America's wisdom, strength and resolve are increasingly focused on the person of the president. Beyond the espionage, think of Mr. Obama's hesitations on Iran and turnabouts concerning Syria—or his role in lengthening the U.S. budget shutdown, or in providing America with a new but crippled national health program.

These days, and to varying degrees, the governments of France, Britain and Germany regard Mr. Obama as a problem. No longer expressed only in private, the notion represents a decline in the reflexive acceptance and respect that had cushioned European attitudes about his historic presidency.

Last Thursday, just as negotiations with Iran picked up in Geneva, I heard doubts from a high-level European security official, somewhat akin to Saudi Arabia and Israel's concerns, about how much reality Mr. Obama wanted to deal with concerning Tehran's drive toward atomic weapons.

In " Angela Merkel : The Chancellor and Her World," a biography by veteran journalist Stefan Kornelius that was published in Germany in July, Mrs. Merkel is described as regarding the president as inscrutable. According to the book, the chancellor has exchanged expressions of discomfort with Nicolas Sarkozy and Gordon Brown about why Mr. Obama is "so peculiar, so unapproachable, so lacking in warmth" (my translation).

Of course it has. They’re too busy gearing up for Mrs. Slick Willie. They’re done with the Kenyan. They’re looking for another new Commie Marxist with a “compelling life story”.

<1) "so peculiar, so unapproachable, so lacking in warmth" (my translation).

which is,more or less, how Rush Limbaugh described the man in January, 2009.

I share their feelings but they were having Orbasms when he was elected. Head over heels IN LOVE with him.

The Norwegians gave him the Nobel Prize after his TWELTH DAY in office...!!

Obama hit his Peter Principle when he arrived at college.

Race, false claims of nationality for grant and diversity purposes, forgery, and manipulation of government programs brought him the rest of the way. Once he ran for state senate, bribery, and cronyism Chi-Town style helped him cross the finish line.

Hmmm...Europeans don’t exactly have a sterling history for choosing the ‘best’ leadership! Not their own or OURS...

They were Ga Ga over “O” and now they can’t stand the sight of him!! Ha!

“so peculiar, so unapproachable, so lacking in warmth”

Like Rush her antennae were up. She lived under Communism before the Wall fell. Her gut instincts told her there is something wrong about the man, something very wrong. She expressed it rather politely, but I get it.

GO ANGELA!

Well, Angela, that’s what you get with an empty-suit sociopathic narcissist. It’s all a front with him. Inside, there is no there there.

“We saved them three times”

Now our elected government doesn’t want to save us. This “immigration reform before the end of the year” the RNC is pushing will be the last nail in our coffin. The only “immigration reform” we need is to enforce existing law and to protect our borders. Until that is done there is nothing else to talk about.

Immigration Reform as a hot issue is just 1 row above Climate Change.

What took them so long?
I think many Europeans were gleeful at the thought of a weaker America.
Now they find out it's not so hot when their primary ally, defender and business partner becomes unreliable.

“there is no there there”

The presumed “Emperor” has no clothes. She sees it as do we.

Yes: The suit is empty. Correspondingly: The “presumed” “would be” wearer of the suit, naked for all to see. For those who have eyes to see.

The GOVERNMENT of Germany would like us to have a stable President. They have to work with him. The PEOPLE of Germany wanted a weakling President for the USA so their businesses would have a better chance to compete against our businesses.
