Popcorn: Democrats in Disarray, Debating Whether to Turn On Obamacare
Townhall.com ^ | 11/13/2013 | Guy Benson

Bill Clinton's comments may have been the tipping point. Yesterday, the former president told an interviewer that the White House should keep its promise and honor its commitment on Obama's infamous "keep your plan" pledge. And if there's one person on planet earth whose reputation for honoring both the truth and personal commitments is -- ahem -- unimpeachable, it's him. Snark aside, Clinton's remarks were hugely impactful; not because he was expressing his own personal opinion, but because in doing so, he was extending a tacit permission slip to fellow Democrats. Message: It's okay to abandon Obama by starting to dismantle big parts of this law. His wife, who is widely expected to run for president, had no comment on the matter. And then, as these horrific poll numbers started to seep into the Washington bloodstream, the dam broke:

Feinstein: "I have decided to cosponsor Senator Mary Landrieu’s (D-La.) legislation: Keeping the Affordable Care Act Promise Act."

Feinstein: “Since the beginning of Sept, I have received 30,842 calls, emails & letters..many of whom are very distressed by cancellations"

Yes, that would be liberal California Democrat Dianne Feinstein pledging to co-sponsor Mary Landrieu's iteration of the GOP's "keep your plan" legislation. The House will vote on its own version on Friday, and CNN reports that even Democratic leadership is befuddled as to how members should vote. Accordingly, Friday is now the White House's "de facto deadline" to prevent perhaps dozens of House Democrats from sprinting away from the president, shattering the party's ruthless party discipline on Obamacare in the process:

This desperation mentality is contagious, and it's exceedingly risky for Democrats.

“I don’t believe it...it’s a trick. The Rats have been salivating over this for over a century, they aren’t about to drop it because they’re taking short-term political hits for it. Government paid (and controlled) healthcare is as sacrosanct as abortion on demand.

You can make book on that.”

The playbook is open for all to see. It’s not an exotic plan, but it’s tried and true.

I agree, Bill is distancing Hillary from this disaster. The media can never turn on their hero Obama, their love for him is too deep. But, what they can do, is blame the insurers and Republicans for the mess that is Obamacare. They have been doing that to some extent already.

The media will claim: Obama’s intentions were pure, his skill unmatched, as he gave Americans the greatest gift ever, Obamacare. The evil, GOP and insurance companies with the power of mega bucks rode in and screwed up Obama’s magnificent work. But fear not, Hillary is the tough, ultra competent administrator who can fend off the evil of the right and bring Americans the single payer system they deserve.

That’s the plan, I think Americans are stupid enough that it will work.

"Former" congressman Mark Schauer is running for governor in Michigan and I couldn't be more pleased. His only memorable vote was for Obamacare.

The House will vote on its own version on Friday,...

Why? Don't mend it, end it. There is only one cure for DeathPanelCare, complete repeal.

I hope the GOP is thinking seriously about how many pounds of flesh they are going to extract from the Rats in exchange for supporting the Landrieu/Feinswine proposal.

That show was hilarious in the 2000s,

I still recall Cartman licking the (older) school bullies tears using that line “Your tears are yummy” after completely destroying his life for revenge, for picking on him.

It was the Chilli contest.

If anyone deserves to have a Oktoberfest-like Schadenfreude-fest in their honor, it is the vile, unfeeling, incompetent, hateful Dems that are going to LOSE big in the next elections!

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

We will probably have a small touch of the same feeling that people felt when they saw the bums at Nuremberg on trial trying to weasel their way out of what they did.

Republicans need to all vote ‘PRESENT’!!

This vote is a trap - but there’s a way out. If republicans vote for it - they will be complicit when the crap hits the fan (ie. the toothpaste back in the tube analogy). They will be right in the middle of the mess, and will have no choice but to help clean it up.

If they vote against it, the dems will use that talking point against them forever.

SO....ALL REPUBLICANS: PLEASE!!

VOTE ‘PRESENT’ ON FRIDAY!

You Dems passed it, without reading it, in the middle of the night, without a single republican vote, on Christmas Eve, when nobody wanted it. You own it. Yes, we are ‘PRESENT’. We are watching. We want no part of this. ‘Present’ and watching you all squirm, fight, and destroy your party.

It won’t work. Liberals are generally cheapskates because they think the world owes them a living and when things cost money, they get mad. When they blame the insurance companies (which some are definitely culpable) the companies will just quote the law that says you must pay for something you don’t want or need. Then they get really mad because they hate it if someone tells them they have to do things they don’t want to do (like not break laws, do drugs, kill babies, etc). To me, that is the dilemma. All of that racism pap that my parents spew is soon to be out the window when they get their insurance bills...What to do if your a Dimwit?!

—ck em.. let them burn and let the people feel first hand the pain of not being engaged in the political process.
Any lifeline will be used to choke the Republicans because once one repub votes for this, the entire party owns it.

Yup, don’t lift a finger to save this thing. Let it be fully implemented and the pain felt. Maybe 2014 will be a good year for conservatives after all.

I don’t think Obama/Reid will allow it to come to a vote.

Insurance companies will stop it. If this bill is passed, insurance companies are toast because they’re counting on all those healthy people with the canceled policies to sign up for new, more expensive coverage to offset all the high risk people they are required to cover.

The insurance companies could just throw the towel in on the whole thing and they would be justified if the law has been changed on them midstream. No doubt they are combing the fine print now looking for loopholes because it’s not turning out they way they were promised it would.

So many people of all stripes are being effed by this monster. A lot of rude awakenings for a lot of diehard libs. Dems don’t give a damn about the little man. They just want his vote. Maybe, just maybe some of them will see the light.

Most politicians are more loyal to getting re elected than to their party. The gravy train ride is what they crave more than anything else and it exceeds their need for political allegiance. My estimate is that 99 out of 100 of them couldn’t earn the price of a Happy Meal in the open market.

This isn't a great deal more than a promise to wave a magic wand and suspend the laws of economics. People were being dropped because their premiums were insufficient to support the tremendous load placed on a rickety and poorly-designed program by people looking for free health insurance. Nothing in that has changed.

The website difficulties are rapidly receding as the principal problem. The system isn't going to work, and Congress grandly commanding it to isn't going to do much more than pass the buck.
