This is the way the Obamacare “Fix” bill should be worded:

1. The Affordable Care Act of 2010 is hereby repealed in its entirety.
2. Any American who lost their insurance plan as a result of the Affordable Care Act of 2010 shall be allowed to re-apply to the same insurance company for comparable coverage. The insurance company shall issue coverage to policyholders who fall under this provision with no pre-existing condition limitation for ailments or illnesses that occurred or were diagnosed during the lapse in coverage caused by the ACA.
3. Losses to insurance companies as a result of implementation costs for the Affordable Care Act shall be repaid by the Democratic Party.

Is everyone convinced that Upton’s bill might pass? I’m not.

Helping them by putting MORE regulations on insurance companies??

And the result will be a vast number of premiums being paid that are not currently. I suspect the insurance companies will welcome that.

No, he's helping to release millions from Obamacare's effects. And if he doesn't do this, the White House will spearhead a move to expand subsidies to those who have lost their insurance.

Exactly, if we go head to head on repeal or nothing we're going to end up with nothing. And it's another nail in Obamacare's coffin because there's not going to be anyone on their rolls to pay for all the sick and poor who have signed up. Cost will be prohibitive.

Yes...it would never pass.

But this legislation has an excellent chance at passage and if the public sees that it's possible to reverse one part of Obamacare, it will be possible to do more.

This is only the first step.

This legislation will force Obama to expand subsidies to those on the exchange, because the costs of their plans will skyrocket if insurers can’t charge existing plan-holders more than they were before. This just puts Obamacare back on the debt-and-taxes funding model instead of on the insurance-premium funding model. Recent history has shown it’s extremely hard to get the public outraged about debt and taxes since few of them pay taxes anymore and they just don’t care about debt.

It will be far easier to repeal Obamacare in its current form than it would be if this modification is made. This legislation brings us one giant step closer to single-payer by giving Obama an excuse to expand government-funded health care.
