Hundreds of Brady Advocates Descend on Capitol, Call on Congress to "Finish the Job"

Hundreds of gun violence prevention advocates from around the country took to the halls of Congress today calling on members to expand effective Brady background checks to online and gun show sales.

"Background checks work and they save lives," said Sarah Brady, Chair, Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. "Twenty years ago this month Congress had the will to take on the corporate gun lobby and pass the Brady law. Since then, two million purchases have been denied to people like convicted felons, domestic abusers, and fugitives. There is still work to be done, thousands of sales go unchecked every day at gun shows and on the internet," added Mrs. Brady. "Now it's time for Congress to finish the job and extend background checks to all commercial gun sales."

"With every new story of terror, every senseless act of gun violence, with every life cut short, we are reminded of our need for action to keep our families safe and our communities secure," Leader Pelosi said. "Today, victims of gun violence stood up to advance the cause of gun violence prevention. Congress must find the political courage to do the same."

Just look at “gun-free zones” here in he US. Criminals ignore the sign and enter the mall, school, movie theafer, etc. and get they way until the cops show up in mass.

“These people have NO idea what the F they are talking about when it comes to guns. The world isn’t all peaches and cream out there, at any time you can have someone hellbent on taking your life and the only thing that decides whether you live or die is by sheer luck or lethal force. Instead of talking about “the lives saved” by gun control they should talk about the lives LOST by gun control! All the gas station attendants, late night 24 hour convenience store clerks slaughtered because they were sitting ducks. All the victims of rape, assault, flat out murder because they had absolutely no way to defend themselves and it’s absolutely outrageous because it’s a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT no different from freedom of speech!”

Well stated!!!

Prosecutions for gun crimes are down by 40% since 0bama has been in office. They won’t enforce existing gun laws like they should but still want to pass even more restrictive gun laws.

Not only that, but they send guns to Mexico that are unaccounted for and probably responsible for the deaths of 100’s.

When will the Brady Bunch complain about that?

Absolute BS. They just make up impressive sounding numbers. One line in the article talked about background checks catching terrorists. As if foreign terrorists get their guns from the local American gun shop instead of from the international arms trade.

These liberals just live in a fantasy land.
