Posted on 11/14/2013 7:40:55 AM PST by Paladins Prayer
A famed man of letters and sexual liaisons who never had a kind word for traditionalism, the late Gore Vidal hobnobbed with the rich and influential and locked horns with William F. Buckley on television. During one of these debates, Vidal called Buckley a pro-crypto-Nazi, prompting Buckley to call him a queer. Only one of these accusations was true, but both pale in comparison to a charge Vidals own relatives are now leveling at the writer.
That, as the Daily Mail puts it, he was a globe-trotting paedophile who preyed on underage boys.
[snip] his is why Vidal has plenty of company. Hardcore liberal Bay Area radio host Bernie Ward was sent to prison in 2008 for possession and distribution of child pornography. It was learned in 1983 that far-left Massachusetts congressman Gerry Studds had an affair with a 17-year-old boy a decade earlier (he was re-elected). It was recently revealed that British Liberal Democrat politician Cyril Smith was a serial abuser of boys and that this fact was covered up by other liberal politicians; another Liberal Democrat legislator, Derek Osbourne, was arrested this year for....

Larry Craig tapped his feet.
“I’m gonna punch you in the goddamn nose” Whenever I see Mr Vidal I remember that day. Gotta be kinda old to get this.
Harvey Man Milk liked underaged boys too.
He wasn’t a “pedophile”. He was a homosexual practicing typical predatory, pederast behaviour towards young teen boys. Every time a homosexual is caught (whether its a Boy Scout leader or a priest or sport coach), the media tries to shield the dark underside of the homosexual lifestyle by calling the perpetrator a pedophile and claiming it had nothing to do with the guy’s homosexuality. The Catholic Church doesn’t have a pedophile priest problem it has a homosexual priest problem. But the media’s response to the abuse scandals is to call on the Church to permit more homosexuals to become priests.
“The New American” is a great magazine.
There is no evidence that Vidal’s grandfather, Oklahoma Senator (D) Thomas Gore, is related at all to Al Gore’s father, Tennessee Senator (D) Albert Gore, Sr.
What, no pictures?!
most homosexuals i know liked to turn out young teen boys
it’s narcissim really and extension of themselves in their flower
queers are like women with locker room urges and little filter
I've had very strange debates with people about this. You are 100% correct - they claim that pederasty is a particular psychological problem about "physical abuse" and "control" - and that it is typically heterosexual men who do this sort of thing. Their main point is that it has nothing to do with "homosexuality" at all - which is just ridiculous idea.
Well *this* kinda takes on a new twist.
So Vidal was a pedophile, but escaped consequences his entire life, and probably his reputation will only suffer now among people who already disliked him. And Mr. Duke gives a list of other people on the left who likewise were not punished/shunned for being pedophiles? Mr. Duke might as well have said in this article being a conservative is a sucker bet. You can be on the left and escape the consequences of even the most terrible actions. If you are a conservative, you can still be vilified, even if you do something honorable. Depressing.
My surprise meter needle just jumped.....well it didn’t actually move, when I heard this news.
It’s inherent. Homosexual men prey on young boys; lesbian women prey on young girls.
Homosexuals commit most of the serial killings which is mainly due to the fact that after they’ve buggered a younger man or boy they want to destroy what they enjoy.
These sick perverts can parade all they want, they can petition the complicit politicians for special privileges and they can want to marry a person of the same sex, but check on their buggering relationships a year or so down the line.
Oh. And I almost forgot. Gore Vidal was an infamous, flaming homosexual whose appetites ran to young boys.
I’ve noticed that many of my gay friends have a strange habit of traveling to Thailand.
There is no doubt that being a lib often means never having to say you’re sorry. In fairness, though, most of the libs mentioned in the article are suffering punishment.
I remember from 1968 how Bill Buckley responded to Vidal:
“Listen, you queer. Stop calling me a Nazi or I’ll sock you in your g—d—m nose and you’ll stay plastered!”
The moderator (Dick Cavett?) was appalled, “Gentlemen, gentlemen!”
Anyway, no surprises here. Vidal was a flaming faggie & America hater, and is still dead.
“It’s just about love!” I’m sure he went to Thailand because he cared about those boys.
As Reverend Wright would say, I’m sure he “loved the Hell” out of them.
One of live TV’s greatest moments, I wish Buckley had followed through. And like you I’m glad Vidal is no longer with us.
I'm guessing that's because most mature men and women naturally don't want anything to do with them, which is no excuse, of course.
Worthless piece of *. I have always been a wide ranging reader, and I’ve done a lot of American fiction in my time. I never have read a single novel by Gore Vidal.
His name is still very familiar, because he was constantly talked about. But I just looked through a list of his books in Wikipedia, and I haven’t read a single one of them. I assume I picked up some of them in libraries or bookstores, read the first paragraph page, and then put them down again.
Not just politically stupid. Pure junk.
I never use the words "gay" and "friends" in the same sentence.
Trust me you didn't miss anything. In my college U.S. History class, I had to read a book about Aaron Burr called BURR by Gore Vidal. It was one of the driest, dullest book I have ever read to date. At the time, I never really knew who Gore Vidal was. The book was very painful to read because of the writing style. How Gore Vidal ever made a living at writing, I will never know. I never read another book by Vidal and never will. Like you said, the book is pure junk.
Exactly. I sometimes read writers I don’t agree with. For instance, I don’t agree with Sinclair Lewis’s political views, but I read all of his novels, back in the day when I used to read anything. They were well written, and instructive about what leftists of his kind believed.
If you pick a book up off the shelf and read the first page or two, you usually can tell if it’s worth continuing. Gore Vidal was not.
For the youngsters who have no clue - great moment in TV history!
"William Buckley Vs Gore Vidal"
video run length = 00:01:11 minutes
This is the well know incident between William Buckley and Gore Vidal that occurred during ABC's coverage of the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago. This version has slightly better sound quality and syncronization.
The entire leftist mindset if of having no consequences for their actions.
