WASHINGTON - President Obama will allow insurance companies to continue offering individual health plans that do not meet the standards of the Affordable Care Act through next year, according to a Democratic source on Capitol Hill familiar with the plans.
The plan, which the president will announce Thursday morning, is intended to placate millions of consumers who have received cancellation notices from insurers in recent weeks. Obama had repeatedly promised that consumers would be able to keep plans that they liked.
The president was under intense pressure from Democrats on Capitol Hill to find a fix. House Democrats have increasingly threatened to support a Republican proposal due for a vote Friday. And Democratic senators have offered their own legislative fixes.

If some of these insurance CEOs do not speak up now about the dangers and failures of government intrusion, they are just as much of the problem as the socialist leaders.
All Hail Lord Hussein!
they haven’t spoken up so far, even after they’ve been dragged through the mud for the past 20 years.
Typical MSM -- just report the press release.
it’s only for 1 year...enough for the elections of 2014. Then they revert back to the same bullcrap of permanent cancellation. Once the Dums win the election, they wont give a rip.
It sounds like what he’s really saying is, Ted Cruz had a great point!
I thought this was the LAW and could not be changed come hell or hi water....wait till next year after the elections... yeah that is the idea
He will “allow it”? By whose permission will he do that? Another executive order?
No. Repeal and replace. Nothing less. Now.
Just like immigration policy... It’s too much work to enforce the law so we’ll ignore it.
I wonder if anyone on the left will be offended by the concept of the president “allowing” something to be sold...
Update: Another reminder from Team Klein that todays fix is something that was already available:
Most insurers have the option to “early renew” policies in December 2013, to last through Nov. 2014 under current law.
10:37 AM - 14 Nov 2013
Insurers could have extended canceled plans for another year, but why would they? That would only complicate the new risk pool created by ObamaCare. Go figure that they need more revenue from the healthy to pay for preexisting conditions for the sick. The scapegoats are unhappy:

BS “allow” .... Write it down & PASS THE LAW !
That’s nice. But if it’s not profitable for them, they’re not going to do it. Socialism sucks. Repeal Obamacare and go back to free enterprise. Government is not the solution; it is the problem.
A shameless political ploy to get democrats through the 2014 elections. He thinks Americans are idiots.
He’s right about 53% of the time.
Dictators are cool
Can’t wait until there is a right wing dictator in the WH, lots of things to dictate on
“Obama will allow ...”
Sounds like he’s our Supreme Dictator who can determne unilaterally what will and will not be allowed.
I pray the Republicans will not negotiate nor attempt to revive this “landmark legislation” foisted upon us by the fascist, totalitarian, narcissistic piece of garbage and his apparatchiks and sycophants desecrating the halls of our Constitutional Republic.
They will somehow try to shift all the blame on insurance companies.. wait and see.
Obama will ALLOW....
makes me want to vomit
Some companies might engage and pursue this. Most will ask how it’d work, and worry about turning this around so quick. A figure on the numbers? That’s the real issue. Usually, you’d have two or three months to toss the numbers around and reach a conclusion over next year’s rates.
The problem I see...what if half the companies say “no”? Even if five percent say no....you’ve got a big mess.
Exactly! What makes the Dems think the Insurance companies will do it? Just to be nice to their customers so that they can screw them over next year? Companies don’t typically like to dick over their customers twice. Especially for the same reason.
I’d take the hit now. For the larger companies, we’re probably not talking much money. Take the hit and the PR hit and let it go away. Be done with it.
If they give into this, they’ll be dealing with the PR mess for another year. Who wants that?
This is FUBAR
They rolled over early on expecting to have financial benefit for their companies. I am like an elephant. I remember these cowards falling into line back in 2010.
you are exactly right - now they will blame the “bad apple” insurance companies.
“Sounds like hes our Supreme Dictator who can determne unilaterally what will and will not be allowed.”
The Wizard of Oz will simply wave his Magic Wand, and make all this bad news go away.
And anyone that DARES to mention it from here on out will simply be a RACIST, or worse, an EVIL CHRISTIAN!
“You don’t want to be known as an EVIL CHRISTIAN, do you Mr. Sheeple?”- Mainstream Media
Perhaps nobama should pay Ted Cruz a finders fee for figuring a (temporary) way out of this mess.
Damn sure glad I don’t work for an insurance company right now.
I’ve already paid my premium which now includes : Maternity, Infertility, and pediatric dental. None of which I need.
My ‘baby’ is a 32y.o. pharmacist with kids of her own.
Damn you, Barack Hussein Obama.
"Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual" - MO
If I'm not mistaken I think 0, or more likely valerie, told the insurance companies not to criticize the ACA...or else. The same thug tactics he's been getting away with from the beginning.
Really,How do they do that without breaking the law they just passed. It boggles the mind!!
Why is this even Obama’s slightest prerogative? He is not a king, dammit.
Obama thinks he’s a friggin dictator. If changes in the law are needed it’s up to congress.
Ok, what a dumbass, next year it starts all over again x10.
He screwed it up so he could fix it then brag about how HE did it.
And the mean republicans...
Obama thinks that Article II is the only section of the Constitution.
the only branch that can’t or won’t legislate in this post-constitutional gov’t is the legislature.
Allow or require? Why would the insurance companies reinstate the canceled plans? In fact, I’m not sure how they would do it.
And the 5 million who have already lost their plans?
He will allow it?
But its the law of the land, remember??
HAIL OBAMA...ALL POWERFUL!!!
THIS IS TYRANNY!!
The flies are the perfect touch.
The MSM is O’s rubber stamp
That is nice of him. We Have now officially became a Banana Republic. The next step is the abolition of Congress because since the people now have Obama as their king, Congress serves no useful purpose and the money allocated to it can now be applied the reducing the National Debt or toward supporting the people’s king in the manner he is used to.
So a President can now create, change, amend, ignore or provide his own exemptions from acts of Congress...
Congratulations America — You have installed your first dictator!
Obama, Criminal in Charge.
Change laws whenever he wants.
Ignore laws whenever he wants.
Congress passes a law and the President signs it into law.
The Great Dictator then pronounces the law delayed, modified, changed, and in general ignored.
None of the Republican leadership wonders whether this is a Presidential Power.
If it is, could he please delay my due date for my income taxes?
