WASHINGTON - President Obama will allow insurance companies to continue offering individual health plans that do not meet the standards of the Affordable Care Act through next year, according to a Democratic source on Capitol Hill familiar with the plans.

The plan, which the president will announce Thursday morning, is intended to placate millions of consumers who have received cancellation notices from insurers in recent weeks. Obama had repeatedly promised that consumers would be able to keep plans that they liked.

The president was under intense pressure from Democrats on Capitol Hill to find a fix. House Democrats have increasingly threatened to support a Republican proposal due for a vote Friday. And Democratic senators have offered their own legislative fixes.

Forever, not 1 year, not 2 years.

And eliminate the individual mandate which is illegal and unconstitutional. And eliminate the employer mandate which is illegal and unconstitutional.

A truly Machiavellian move. The King “allows”, but ins. Co’s can’t do it.

He is now blameless. Ins. Co’s are evil.

So, we must outlaw them & go to single payer.

He will “allow it”? By whose permission will he do that? Another executive order? No. Repeal and replace. Nothing less. Now.

Prior to Obama, executive orders were limited to the management and administration of the various executive offices and departments. Since health insurance companies are not part of the executive branch (at least not yet), King Obamna has no authority to unilaterally dictate what insurance comapanies can and cannot due. The big question then is whether there is something in the Obamcare law that gives Obama legal authority to dictate this change in the law. Since no one has actually read the entire Obamacare Act and the resulting regulations, I'm not sure anyone can even answer this question with any degree of certainty. A regulatory change, however, would require many months to accomplish given the publication and public comment requirements.

Rush Limbaugh: “He has declared war against the insurance companies and made it impossible for them to do business. He reiterated the original lie. He is acting like a dictator. This pre-empts the Upton bill which serves as a potential trap for the Republicans. This is an absolute swampt and minefield.”
