Boeing may move 777X out of Washington state

SEATTLE (AP) — Boeing's history in the Pacific Northwest dates back more than a century, when William Boeing purchased a Seattle shipyard that would become his first airplane factory. In recent years, however, those ties have been fraying, first with the company shifting its headquarters to Chicago, then with the development of a new production line in South Carolina. Now, the relationship between Boeing and Washington state is near the point of unraveling after a fiery debate among machinists this week led the workers to reject a long-term contract.

On Thursday, Boeing made good on its threats and said it is looking elsewhere to develop its popular new 777X airplane — and the company may take thousands of jobs along with it.

Boeing Co. spokesman Doug Alder declined to specify where the company is now looking, saying there is no short list and that there are many places both within Boeing's current operations and outside that are being explored.

"Everything is back on the table," he said.

Boeing has helped anchor western Washington state's economy for decades, but that relationship began to fray about 15 years ago. In 2001, the company moved its headquarters from Seattle to Chicago.

It looks like the Boeing Union workers got Hosted..... Boeing gone Hostal...
What the sheeple don't realize is ? what the low information voter don't realize is ?
They think that Unions are good and that is what has been preached to them for generations of that commie propaganda.
What they don't realize is that their union dues, their union monies go towards anti-American agendas, anti-family agendas, the homo agenda, the DNC, all kinds of nefarious things.

No state income tax, yeeeehasame

I moved to texas from california ...in texas natural gas is about the same (figure some extra for a colder winter ) but electric is more on account of summer AC.
Water cost can be offset by using rain barrels....
In my city, if you use your house water supply to water your yard they assume it all goes down the sewer and there is a sewage charge.... they peg the sewer charge equal to the water usage . So if I use rain barrels to water the garden, there is no meter to measure and thus no matching charge for sewage. :D

just to clarify...Alcoa had one plant in Spokane decades ago, but Kaiser took over after WW2....there were two plants in the area....

the unions dolts?..yep...I blame them but I also blame Charles Hurowitz who sold every asset and bankrupted the company, resulting in a large number of people...salaried and union.. my husband included...in losing their pensions and their medical benefits at retirement...which meant that you could have put in 27 yrs there like my husband and come out of it with a pitiful Pension board pension and no medical, but with the right to buy cobra for $1000 a month..

I do not wish bad things on my state, but the whole budget shennagans count on Boeing and its workers and won’t it be sad if they have to have enough special session to raise more taxes?.....or lay off teachers, something that I really don’t believe actually happens....

Will the last Boeing non-union employee leaving the Seattle area, please turn off all the lights in the plant and lock the gate as you leave. As for IAW District 751 union thugs, you're going to have to learn to work for a living or starve. The WA taxpayers won't come to your rescue. Pity about that...NOT.

Right after that tool Inslee gave away the farm to Boeing.

“With the stroke of a pen, Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) on Monday signed into law the largest corporate tax break any state has ever given to a single company. And it took just three days of debate in the state legislature to get the measure to Inslee’s desk.

The new law extends a business and operating tax cut for the aerospace giant through 2040, streamlines the permitting process and invests in a transportation package the company had advocated. Over the life of the package, the deal is expected to be worth $8.7 billion.”

No income tax here in Washington state either.

BUT. You need a permit to have a rain barrel. (In Washington state!!!???)

One of the offers Boeing made was on the pensions. Boeing would chip in 10% the first year, then 8%, then 6% and ending up at 4% per year of the person’s salary. (AVERAGE machinist’s salary is $8

"AVERAGE machinist’s salary is $8"

From the Seattle Times December 7, 2011 (right after the last Boeing union contract negotiations):

"The average annual base wage of Boeing's Machinists is $59,000, with typically about 20 percent on top of that for overtime pay."

That's $29.50/hour.

....has Nashville really gone to the dogs?

I live in Nashville and someone would have to hand me a 7-figure check to get me to move. The property values on Music Row are skyrocketing, along with much of the rest of the city. If you include the six counties that border Davidson county and call all of it Nashville/Middle Tennessee, the explosive growth has resulted in 65%-70% of this area being less than twenty years old.
