Obama claims ‘enforcement discretion’ to make Obamacare changes
Washington Times ^ | November 14, 2013 | Stephen Dinan

Obama said Thursday that what’s good for illegal immigrants is also good for people who are losing their health insurance because of Obamacare, saying he’ll use prosecutorial discretion to let companies continue to offer health plans that violate his law.

It’s the latest example of the White House trying to work around Congress and instead take action on its own, and in this case it comes as Mr. Obama seeks to stop a wholesale abandonment of his health law by Democrats who have watched the rocky rollout.

...

That immigration policy, known by its acronym of DACA, has proved controversial as well. Under it, Mr. Obama has determined that young illegal immigrants shouldn’t be deported, even though the law calls for that.

A federal judge in Texas ruled that the administration had exceeded its power in telling immigration agents not to arrest or deport those young illegal immigrants.

Imperial Edicts worked for a while in England in the 1600s, and then some kings got a lot shorter real fast with the swing of the axe for doing what Obama is doing now.

By bypassing congress, Obama’s “I am the Law” BS is just that. It only exists in his head. He has no authority to do what he is trying to do and bypass Congress.

Autocratically cherry-picking which pieces of the law will not be enforced is simply illegal.

And Dubya said he couldn’t open up ANWR for drilling in 2002, despite a 90% approval rating, a Patriot Act which permitted environmental waivers for ‘national security’, and a Senate which refused to even vote on it.

The low information voters are signing up for free Medicare, but I hope you are right.

We shall see, so far the republicans are mute.

So then the rule of law is irrelevant.

It’s enforcement that rules the day.

Who needs Congress or the Presidential pen??

In other words, Obama can’t make the policies legal, so he’s encouraging the insurance companies to break the law.

As an attorney who has represented insurance companies for over 25 years, I can assure you that none of them are going to issue policies that do not comply with the letter of the law.

This promise by Obama is just another lie intended to shift the blame from him onto the evil insurance companies (who will ignore his dictatorial edict)

Obamacare must be repealed and Obama must be impeached.

Enforcement discretion is when a cop ignores a jaywalker.

It's just what I thought. He is slow dissolving his program to where the GOP can't get credit for killing it and it protects the Rats for the next election. The GOP House needs to pass a repeal immediately but add something like a guaranteed committee to look at the health care industry to solve some problems.

Can Obama justify selective enforcement of laws based on Scutus’ terrible decision last year in the Arizona vs Fed where they said the state can’t tell the fed how to enforce laws?

Imperial Edicts worked for a while in England in the 1600s, and then some kings got a lot shorter real fast with the swing of the axe for doing what Obama is doing now.

Good point.

There have been times in human history when people have deposed their rulers over fundamental breaches of the solemn trust that keeps them in power.

A people can endure a great deal of suffering and want, as long as they believe their rulers care about them and their country. When a ruler proves through word and deed that he holds the people and the nation in contempt, look out. The people will withdraw their allegiance from him and look for ways to bring him down.

That was a horrendous decision by Scotus last year. Scalia dissented and basically said that states have interests, constitutional interests, and are authorized to deal with those. It is only rational.

That’s why all Democrat Congressmen and Senators are complicit, as they’ve uniformly endorsed the “You Republicans may impeach, but it’ll be futile, as our Senate majority will never convict and remove.” In that biased partisanship, they (figuratively, OF COURSE!) “ALL HANG TOGETHER!”

We are dealing with a federal government that has completely come off the rails. Basically the congress and the Supreme Court, by failing to hold back the Laviathan of unconstitutional anarchy, have created a dictatorship in which Obama tells America what the law is and which parts will be enforced and which parts will be ignored.

I am not sure we can put the train back on the rails short of a Civil War. We are no longer living in the land of the free and the home of the brave. We are slaves to our dictator who is being empowered by 500 or so cowards in Congress and on the Supreme Court.

It has gotten to the point where I can no longer watch the news or listen to talk radio without getting sick to my stomach.

I don't see an end to this. I can only see that we may be witnessing the beginning of God's judgement on this Nation. We have systematically murdered more babies since 1973 than all the people killed in all the world during WWII. We now have mainstream churches embracing homosexual marriage and abortion on demand. How can we avoid His judgment?

Without a huge spiritual revival and a return to our Godly roots, we cannot survive as a democratic Republic. Our only Hope is in Christ.

Selective enforcement is simply an end-run for the dictatorially minded “president.” That is essentially what SCOTUS told Obama was fine and dandy in last year’s Arizona ruling. I don’t see a way for him to set aside the 2016 elections yet, so I think we’ll be rid of him in 3 years.

However, we’ll keep killing babies, we’ll keep sexually abusing our children, and we’ll keep enslaving our poor and middle class.

That is the ancient Egypt from which God extracted his people. Egypt NEVER recovered from that.

Revolution? They’re too busy watching comedy central.

Depression? It’s coming. Hardship is coming.
