New undercover video: Hotel gives special rate to mothers having late-term abortions in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM, November 15, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Call them “room service abortions.” Live Action has released a new undercover video this morning revealing that the Plaza Inn hotel in Albuquerque gives special discount rates and provides transportation for women seeking late-term abortions.

The abortion facility worker advises the young woman to give birth to her stillborn child into the hotel toilet.

In the video released today a young woman calls Southwest Women's Options to schedule an abortion at 25 weeks. An abortion worker tells her that the Plaza Inn works “in conjunction with” them and “give [special] room rates” to women.

The hotel will also pick women up from the airport and shuttle them to and from their appointments at SWO. The site's abortionist, Dr. Carmen Landau, said in a video released yesterday that “people come from all over the country and all over the world into our clinic, because in most places you cannot get an abortion after 24 weeks.” She boasted this because New Mexico does not have “a lot of [abortion] restrictions” on the books.

A receptionist at the Plaza Inn confirmed the rooms were “$49 dollars, plus tax.” The rate does not appear to be much of a discount, as the website currently offers a room with deluxe queen size bed for $45 for a single night, and less money yet if the stay extends several days.

“The Plaza Inn is more than willing to give discounts and free transportation to mothers about to have their children poisoned to death and torn apart,” Live Action President Lila Rose said in a press release. “How many other hotels – in Albuquerque, and across the nation – are profiting from these gruesome procedures? How many are offering discounts for death?”

The hotel's alliance with a late-term abortionist is perhaps less shocking than the facility's advice to women who go into labor during the arduous procedure. The counselor tells the reporter that if she feels herself going into labor, she should deliver her child into the hotel toilet.

The counselor tells the young woman that if she feels “something coming out” – she pauses, “um, the pregnancy coming out” – she should just “get your cell phone and just sit on the toilet.” She can stay there until facility personnel arrive.

“You don't have to look at anything. You don't have to clean anything up or nothing,” she said.

“What if it does come out when I'm on the toilet?” the reporter asks.

“You don't gotta look down,” the counselor says. “If you feel like it's too much to see any of it, then do not let yourself look at it.”

The counselor helpfully suggests the young woman could cover her lap with a towel so she did not see her stillborn child during the birth process.

The video does not specifically capture the Plaza Inn's reaction to having stillborn children delivered into their toilets. “Our tastefully appointed guest rooms and attentive service make the Plaza Inn hotel in Albuquerque your best choice for business or pleasure,” the website says.

Staff tell Live Action on the tape that they would not drive women to SWO if they go into labor at night, suggesting they take a taxi or find an alternate means of transportation.

“You’ll notice that the hotel refuses to transport these women to the abortion facility at the most dangerous point of the procedure – in the middle of the night, when they might be in labor, delivering a dead baby over the toilet,” Rose said.

It is the group's second undercover video in two days. The first featured a worker at SWO explaining that the weeklong, $8,000 late-term abortion involves sticking a needle through the unborn child's skull to ensure his or her demise.

The videos seek to educate voters about what takes place in their city before next Tuesday's election on Albuquerque's proposed Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Ordinance, which would bar abortions after 20 weeks on the grounds of fetal pain.Planned Parenthood has pumped $300,000 into the city to fight the new ordinance, and a pro-life website reports that it has been hacked, redirecting e-mails of its supporters to a pro-abortion organization.

“Groups like Planned Parenthood and NARAL may not be saying much about this vote, but that’s because late-term abortion doesn’t poll well,” Rose said. “It never has. But they’re spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to preserve this barbaric business.”

Never a match for abortionists' finances, pro-life volunteers from several states are converging in Albuquerque to turn out the vote. Students for Life of America is on the ground. The Susan B. Anthony List has aired commercials in the market. Created Equal traveled from Ohio to display images of abortion victims, hoping to jolt the conscience of the city. Operation Rescue has worked tirelessly with the Shaver family to put the issue before voters.

“I pray that voters strongly reject keeping Albuquerque a hub of human rights abuses on Tuesday,” Rose concluded.

I got to the middle of the article and couldn’t go on. This is beyond sick. How could you possibly do that to your own child? It’s pure evil - no two ways about it.

I thought women were society’s ‘keepers of morality’. Guess those days are long gone.

Yes it is sick but it is legal.

If they want to do this - as long as they are not forcing me to pay for it or making me stay at the hotel there is nothing I can say.

$4 bucks to clean up the remains, which in a sane world it would be called a crime scene.

We early voted already on this issue and I’m glad we did. We were told both when we were at the polling site and on the news last night that Albuquerque has had a record turn out for a special election. With the large numbers of Hispanics in Albuquerque, I think the 20 week ban has a chance of passing.

Luckily we have to show ID as I heard on the news last night that people from out of town have tried to vote on this issue.

Probably similar to other cities of this size, but the owners of this hotel doing this is beyond the pale. It’s disgusting to me and the fact that they shuttle people to the abortion!

And for heaven’s sake, the description of the abortion procedure is stomach churning and heartbreaking. If I owned a business I would NOT want to make my money off people coming to spend $8,000 to murder their child.

They had an ad running on TV with a woman whose 2nd child (unborn - 20 weeks along) had something wrong, I forget what, but she said in the commercial, “We had a choice of either watching her fight for breath after birth or ending her suffering painlessly after we heard the bad news.” How is a needle into the brain painless? :-( Nor do I believe that all abortions after 20 weeks are for medical reasons such as a non-viable child.

You have to wonder why they LOVE abortion so much.

Thinking of the anti-abortion “mischief” that could be wrought on this joint, however. Do they have to get their tickets actually stamped at the abortuary? Seems any woman of plausible youth could go in, belly stuffed with pillow, and claim that. Then she could go around and pass out pro-life tracts.
