A full-time professor on the faculty of the newly-minted Texas A&M University School of Law called for the repeal and replacement of the Second Amendment on Friday.

The professor, Mary Margaret “Meg” Penrose, made her controversial declaration during a day-long panel symposium on gun control and the Second Amendment at the University of Connecticut School of Law in Hartford.

UConn’s main student-run journal, The Connecticut Law Review, organized the event, according to Connecticut Public Radio. It was well-attended, primarily by law students, law professors and local attorneys.

Replace the 2nd? Hmmmmm. That could work. Just reword it to say the "American citizens right to bear arms will in no way be restricted by the federal government or any "governing" body outside the United states in any manner, shape or form." I thought it already said that but, then again, I guess I'm not a constitutional scholar.

Sounds like its time to repeal Mary Margaret “Meg” Penrose.

Hard to believe TAMU would hire a cretin like this.

The issue is legitimacy, which is already close to nonexistent in today’s White House. Any pretended repeal of our God-given rights would provoke overt questioning of the legitimacy of a government that would try to oppose God’s will for us to be free. With Second Amendment supporters, that overt questioning could easily take active form (soapbox, ballot box, . . .) against an illegitimate government.

Time for some downsizing, in education.

Long overdue.

America needs to take back our education system.

Teach our children. Stop brainwashing. Teach.

Her status as a professor of law should be revoked immediately. The 2nd Amendment grants nothing. It enumerates a Natural Right, nothing more.

A full-time professor [Mary Margaret “Meg” Penrose] on the faculty of the newly-minted Texas A&M University School of Law called for the repeal and replacement of the Second Amendment on Friday.

Lets see, Texas A&M being "Agriculture and Military" with a very active Cadet military component. Yep really goes well in that place, please tell me she is not already tenured.

As for "repeal & replace" whats stopping her? Just like the 18th and 21st Amendments, there is a fully defined path to amend the US Constitution, so go ahead and take your SHOT!

Just don't expect the rest of us to roll over and play dead for you and don't expect that "Living Constitution" nonsense to allow you a free rein on OUR Constitutional Rights!

"...drastic times require drastic measures,” the professor said."

Hysteria defined. Careful there, Doc. The world has heard that at various times and places throughout history. "Drastic measures" carry disastrous consequences. Surprise! You and yours will be among the first sent to the gulag.

Look I for one am a bit tired of “tenure” being used to always defend teachers.

Liberals have taken over schools.

Screw tenure. Throw them out if they need to be replaced.

Simple as that.

“Why do we keep such an allegiance to a constitution that was driven by 18th Century concerns?”

Yeah, liberty and self determination are such outdated concepts.

Her ignorance and incompetence is appalling. Who wipes her butt for her?

The foundations of our liberty and law go back to 11th century Britain. As she would know if she actually studied any of the history.

The irony of useful idiots like her is that they are some of the first to get the bullet in the head and thrown into the ditch after their brilliant ideas are implemented.

TAMU has never had a law school. So, they went and bought one.

Texas Wesleyan is a small lib art college in Fort Worth, and they wanted to spin off their law school, and TAMU bought it.

So, there is absolutely no cultural heritage between the two.

Caveat emptor. Sleep with dogs, wake up with fleas.

You are right about “what’s stopping her?”

There is a constitutional approach for those who want to get rid of the 2nd Amendment: Line up big majorities in both houses of Congress, and convince 3/4 of the states to go along. If that many people want to go down the tubes, what can we do to stop it?

The leftists know there is no way that many people would go along with repealing the 2nd Amendment, so they have to subvert it in an illegal, extra-constitutional fashion.

Some further info on this 'distinguished' professora, Mary Margaret Penrose.

In the same speech; Penrose also said that the U.S. Constitution was antiquated and needs to be redrafted to accord with modern times.

From her bio on the Texas A&M web site: Professor Mary Margaret “Meg” Penrose joined the law faculty in 2009 after teaching nine years at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. Professor Penrose taught Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure, Gender Discrimination and International Human Rights at OU. She continues to practice in federal court with an emphasis on federal habeas corpus representation of Texas Death Row inmates and Title VII and Title IX litigation challenging gender bias and discrimination in the workplace.

Translation, an educated liberal Texan - yuck!

They are. They simply codify inherent, inalienable God given rights.

Mary Margaret “Meg” Penrose thinks she knows more than James Madison et. al.. She is probably a democrat/socialist/marxist/progressive (sorry for the redundancy).
