A different take on the ROB FORD scandal.

These thoughts are my own and not necessarily those of Free Republic.

ON ROB FORD

Schadenfreude has never been so delightful.

Talking heads worldwide are obsessed by the admitted illegal activities of a man, in a city, in a country, they didn’t care about yesterday. Someone in the parlor has done some very, very bad things – uttered the word “pu--y” to boot – and the titillating evil of it all is too much to handle. Of course, Justin Trudeau (son of Pierre,) now gunning for Prime Minister, elicited mild yawns and golf applause from Canada’s holier, hempier, and greener than thou upper middle class elite (one does not speak of Canada’s “rich,” and surely not of Canada’s multi-generationally protected rich, Canada is better than that) when he proudly announced he was a drug user. But Rob ford is a different story.

He’s fat. FAT! He’s a “right winger.” He fired a LOT of people in Toronto in order to get the City’s budget back in order, and he’s the kind of guy who enjoys chicken wings and poutine (french fries, curd cheese, and gravy) at the bar more than brie and champagne at the Musee Moderne des Fifis. As he admits sadly under the lights, he’s had a few drinks and gotten behind the wheel a few times in his life. Worst of all, he has deigned to suggest others have, too. What an evil man! After all, I’ve never, ever had a drink or two and gotten behind the wheel. Have you? Good. Me neither. You neither? Good. Nor me. Phew!

But “he associates with prostitutes!” “He told a co-worker he wanted to eat her…” Anything goes in this orgy of attention. Nothing can, or should, stop the press in their destruction of the man.

Does it matter that all of this started when the Toronto Police put almost 20 (TWENTY) officers and detectives on a MARIJUANA charge relating to a “known associate” of Mayor Ford? Nope.

Does it matter that what followed was a wholly inappropriate press conference by the chief of police wherein he said he had seen a certain video depicting certain things his boss had done... While charges could not be laid? While we would never see the video? While even the mayor did not see the video? Nope.

Does it matter that the latest chapter in this debacle stems from a left-leaning Toronto newspaper buying videos - filmed without the mayor's knowledge - merely showing the mayor in a tantrum and cussing?

Have you ever been in a tantrum? Have you cussed?

Me neither. Phew! Guess I am not "on crack."

And the best part is: now that the Canadian mainstream media and political elite have destroyed a man by using the world media against him? They can complain about all the media attention!

If only the average wait time for simple medical procedures wasn’t over EIGHTEEN MONTHS according to Statistics Canada… Maybe folks could get their heads in gear and stop the crucifixion of their “GIT ‘R DONE” mayor. But truly? If they get their wish? He’ll check out...

And give them a chance for some on-camera crocodile tears. “Oh, oh oh… It must have been the ‘crack’ that drove him over the edge! He did smoke crack, you know, this conservative, right wing mayor… And conservative crack-smoking fat conservative fat conservative drunk driver…”

Oh well. At least the six-digit school supervisors will get their jobs back.

And the self-righteous, singularly self-righteous entitlement-lefties in Canada can lick their bloody chops and dream of tomorrow's kill.

ANY politician who smokes crack needs to be scrutinized very carefully.

Just my opinion.

He needs to be in prison, just as anyone else who smokes crack.

Although Rob Ford should lose his mayorship, due to the questionable practice of smoking crack and having been known to hang around lowlifes, it’s not illegal to use a drug.

It is only illegal to buy and sell.

The US would be better off to drop the war on drugs and focus on community treatment instead.

If he used it, he must have bought it, right?

The US should do a better job of stopping drugs

No. Somebody could have brought the drug to the party.

How many trillions have been spent on the War on Drugs. Has even one drug been successfully stopped from coming into your country?

Oh for God's sake, Ford destroyed himself.

Well he prolly needs to be in rehab for alchoholism and maybe cocaine addiction. He doesn’t seem to be doing the city of toronto much good at the moment. :-)

Ford’s personal hedonism calls into to question judgement, self discipline, honesty, morality and actual conservatism in addition to legality. Are we also to turn a blind eye to Obama’s past moral shortcomings as well. Were I a Canadian, I’d certainly want this guy run out of town. Bringing up other politicians shortcomings doesn’t excuse Ford.

He doesn’t seem to be doing the city of [t]oronto much good at the moment.

The irony, if that's what it is, (I have to check with Alanis - irony is different in Canada) is that he IS a fabulous mayor. He has ALWAYS been a fabulous mayor. He pisses the entitlement crowd off but he has cut taxes, expanded services, cleaned up the city, and kept his promises. That's the thing: He has done the city so much good it's "insane!" And there's the rub.

Okay. But Barack Hussein Obama AKA Barry Soetro, if those are among his names, is a guy with five social security numbers, who happens to have made a disaster of the economy and jobs market, who is generally a non performer, who has never so much as held a job at a Dairy Queen.

Rob Ford is a stellar mayor by all accounts, a man from a pretty good family with a rich personal history, some of it Kennedyesque, some of it maybe worse. (He never shaved, showered, sobered up while Mary Jo Kopechne [according to the coroner] was alive for as much as 3 hours before she drowned.] Yet Ford gets worldwide negative coverage, while Ted Kennedy got the cover of TIME for his broken arm.

And Obama is the President of the USA.

Don’t you see what I am getting at here?

Growing up as I did in Michigan during the 70s, I recall the scandalous behavior of Trudeau’s mother, who openly cheated on her Prime Minister husband. She was a complete kook. The kind who never has to worry about having money. She exemplified Lady Di diva style before there was a Lady Di. Her son may want to tread lightly on becoming the social arbiter of right and wrong. I don’t know if his parents are still alive or not.

Trillions, lol.

Of course libertopians think that when a cop shows up at a domestic disturbance call and arrest an abusive husband, this is all because of the war on drugs. Everything becomes about the world of drugs. Kindergarten fights over crayons; dang you war on drugs! Dog chases a cat up a tree; it’s the WOD again!

If the world and the people were perfect, we wouldn’t need pesky laws. But unfortunately for libertopians the world and people are not perfect. So sad.

How much has been spent on the war on poverty? or on anything else?

The world is a mess. This country is a mess. “Legalizing” drugs would do more harm than good in such a messed up society.

But Libertopians cannot help themselves but to concentrate on legalizing drugs and every perverted sex. This is because that is the level where they feel comfortable, the gutter.

First we need a closed border, abolish government schools, wean the country off of welfare and subsidies. Move the country back toward self-responsibility and some kind of moral center.

Otherwise you are asking for a train wreck with public schools assigning middle schoolers to go home and have sex and take drugs and tweet a report about to the teacher. Government would have a welfare program giving away drugs to the poor.

libertopians are so stuck in their little made-up Utopian dreamworld they don’t believe in cause and effect any more.

And those really are far more important.
