Seven States Sue EPA To Crack Down on Residential Wood Burning
CNSNews ^ | 11/15/2013 | Barbara Hollingsworth

A lawsuit filed against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by seven states is seeking to force the federal agency to impose stringent new regulations on residential wood-burning heaters, which they claim “can increase particle pollution to levels that cause significant health concerns.” (See EPA wood-burning lawsuit.pdf)

The lawsuit, filed last month in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by the attorneys general of Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Vermont, is directed against currently unregulated “indoor and outdoor wood boilers,” which have become an increasingly popular way to heat homes, particularly in rural areas.

I'm sure all those folks who depend on wood burning to heat their homes have plenty of extra cash just sittin' around to upgrade to more modern efficient/environmentally correct method of heating their homes. Just look at all the money they must have saved over the years by not using electric, fuel oil, propane or any other method. Maybe they could consider some wind power to heat their homes. Remember, your energy prices will necessarily skyrocket.

How can this be?

Firewood is an American renewable biomass fuel.

All the things the treehuggers want for energy.

This is all about lost tax revenue. If you’re not buying electricity, or fuel from commercial sources the states are losing taxes. Sick, but par for the course in lib land.

The Bill of Rights at least nominally protects you from abuses by the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government.

There is no Bill of Rights to protect you from the regulators. There is no limitation on their powers. The other three branches of government have delegated power to them for precisely that reason.

Where in the Constitution is congress authorized to delegate its law making/changing authority to an unelected govt entity. It’s illegal but common.

And these states wonder why they keep losing residents in droves. I guess people will have to bundle up like Ralphie’s brother in “Christmas Story.’

Peoples Republic of Austin Texas signed a deal to buy electricity from a Wood Burning Generator in East Texas.

Paid 5X the going rate for electric futures.

I was trying to buy some old railroad ties, was told they were all sold to the generators.

“but, but, we are doing it for our children...”

Let’s just ban fire and be done with it.

Rush covered this tactic, a group sues a govt agency just to give the agency cover to do what it wants to do. Now it can say we had to do this to end the law suit.

Do what people do here in eastern Oregon, build a big ass bonfire of scrub and brush, and dare the EPA to show up and put it out.

The EPA has caused more problems than they have solved, and they need to just go away, as in being defunded and eliminated.

Burning wood for heat has been going on since the beginning of time, and it’s no different than burning fuel oil or natural gas. The only difference is that the gas and oil players want the feds to guarantee and enforce their monopoly.

I will burn whatever I reasonably need to keep warm and cook my food, and if the feds don’t like it, tough shit!

Just put a catalytic converter on it. Then you can run your fireplace any time of year even when there are burn bans when a high pressure system is parked over you.
