“Shoot Shovel and Shut up.”
“Have you seen Jose, lately?”
-”Hmmmm, now that you mention it, no I haven’t. I wonder what he’s up to.”
“Well, if you do please let us know, okay.”
“Shoot Shovel and Shut up.
When Macao was a neglected part of Portugal with one ratty casino it was plagued by Triads (Chinese Mafia) and was a pretty dangerous place. The police were known to be corrupt and the whole city was a dirty stinking pile of poor planning, corruption and rackets combined with bad infrastructure and utilities. Once or twice a week the news in Hong Kong would report about someone’s car being burned or some such triad stuff happening there.
After the PRC took over Macao there were about 150-200 known triad leaders that simply disappeared. There is no record of where they went. There was never a report of a trial or sentence. They have NEVER been found. They’re families asked and the PRC installed government simply shrugged and said “maybe they moved to the mainland”
The violent crime rate in Macao plummeted.
The trick is for a group or government to know when to stop after doing something like that because otherwise you simply replace one demon with another. Evidently the Chinese in Macao did. I hope the Mexicans are as successful.
