CURL: The beginning of the end for Barack Obama
The Washington Times ^ | 11/17/2013 | Joseph Curl

Posted on 11/17/2013 6:11:45 PM PST by markomalley

Second-term presidents in the past 30 years have had some pretty embarrassing news conferences, full of frank admissions of failure, submissive spasms of shame and groveling, grieving apologies.

Bill Clinton had to admit that he actually did have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky; George W. Bush finally thought of something he might have done wrong; his dad had to explain all those new taxes after his unequivocal pledge; and even Ronald Reagan ate crow over the Iran-Contra affair.

But there has never, ever, been a more pitiful presser than the one conducted last week by President Obama. In a nutshell, he said sure, everything’s a mess, but he just didn’t know. Introspective for the first time, he acknowledged he “fumbled the rollout” of Obamacare, said his “you can keep it” pledge “ended up not being accurate” and admitted that his “credibility” is in the dumper. And he tossed out this gem: “What we’re also discovering is that insurance is complicated to buy.” Ya think?

This second-term unraveling has beset nearly all modern presidents. Like Mr. Clinton before him (whose second-term agenda was derailed by a stained little blue dress), George W. Bush’s ambitious plans, including an overhaul of entitlement programs, died suddenly after the Hurricane Katrina debacle. His own party abandoned him on immigration reform, and he was left counting the days until he could go home to his Texas ranch. Even the Republican nominee for president didn’t want him around.

"This is why we need single six-year terms for President"

To hell with that- entirely too much damage can be done in six years. Two three year terms, giving us a chance to dump losers after three, just might be preferable to what we have.

In the blink of an eye, Mr. Obama’s approval rating plunged to 39 percent — exactly where George W. Bush found himself after weeks of dire Katrina coverage.

it's worth noting that Bush had the media basically calling him Hitler/Satan/Racist, etc., on a daily basis, whereas Obama has had constant fawning praise from the media. And despite this, Zero's approval is still sinking.

I kinda’ like the idea of a 5 year term, but with the people being able to oust any “President” or “Usurper” with a vote of no confidence should the need arise...couldn’t trust the paid flunkies in Congress to do it.

Then you have a single term lame duck. As soon as they are elected for six years, the fight begins for the next President.

By having a chance at a second term, the President has ‘to listen to the people’, to some degree before the end of the first term.

In essence, we have one 8 year term split into two parts.

Obama sounded like President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Comacho from the 2006 movie Idiocracy, who made a similar plea to a joint session of Congress:
"Sh&t. I know sh&t's bad right now, with all that starving bullsh&t, and the dust storms, and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings. But I got a solution."

As life imitates art, Obama imitates Comacho. Sadly, America also imitates Idiocracy.

It’s worse than that. Bush had the MSM propaganda machine working full throttle against him to bring him down to 39%. 0vomit has the MSM propaganda working FOR him to keep him up to 39%.

I disagree with the logic. For one thing, a good share of the congress ought to be impeached as well. I’d start with Nancy Pelosi and anyone else who signed off on 0vomit’s eligibility to hold office. I’d include anyone who had knowledge of his origins and kept quiet about it.

And they blamed bush who could’ve shown up a day or two before he did.
*************************
About 3 days before landfall, Bush began calling Gov. Blanco and offering to bring FEMA and the National Guard to LA, to help in evacuations, shelters, supplies, etc. ...Blanco refused to give permission for Feds to enter the State to help.

That’s right, I remember. It’s burned into my impression of how the dems and the media play with moderate goofball, all due respect to the former pres, republicans.

They must simply give up trying to please these people, recognize who and what they are and, for the sake of our future, just stop trying to play the game the way the dems do. They’ll never win it

I agree with your overall point, that this article is on spot about Obama and his ineptness. But comparisons to Dubya fall short; his biggest failing was his unwillingness to defend himself.

The same applies to his wimpy rebuttles of the “lied about WMD” lies the left told.

Frankly, that’s what converts to Jesus seem to do. Over compensate with the turn the other cheek philosophy.

It was even worse. She was so ignorant she had no idea that by law, before federal help could happen, she HAD to request it.

I saw a live press conference where she was blasting Bush for not sending help.

A reporter responded, but governor, YOU have to request it.

She looked at him with a real deer in the headlights look.

I remember thinking that we would never see that clip on the news ever again.

Also; get the movie "Idiocracy", mentioned in another post.

We are now living it.

I thought when you were told there is a huge hurricane coming your way you made arrangements to get the hell out. Instead, many people went out and bought liquor and party supplies! I never understood how that was anyone's fault but the idiots who didn't listen.
