Last week, in one of the most bizarre columns he’s ever written, George Will inadvertently blew Mitch McConnell’s cover as the prince of amnesty. As Democrats languish from the negative consequences of the Obamacare rollout, and amnesty legislation is left for dead, George Will is looking for a way to revive “comprehensive immigration reform.”
Comparing Mitch McConnell to Henry Clay, the ultimate compromiser, Will suggests that McConnell’s great achievement as Majority Leader- in-waiting would be to pass amnesty and save America from a civil war:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell does know. The most important Kentuckian since Henry Clay, McConnell knows that his hero Clay, who was called “the great compromiser,” failed to engineer Senate passage of a comprehensive compromise in 1850. McConnell, who wrote his senior thesis at the University of Louisville on the Compromise of 1850, knows that this was achieved by the canniness of Stephen A. Douglas. His is a name not much mentioned on Capitol Hill since he died in 1861 at age 48.
In 1850, the “Little Giant” — he stood 5 feet 4 — was in his first term as senator from Illinois. He would win his third term in 1859, defeating the tall man who was president when Douglas died. Douglas’s great achievement — the compromises of 1850 — helped save the union by releasing steam from the sectional crisis. This delayed the Civil War — the “irrepressible conflict” — until a decade of immigration and industrialization had made the North more prepared to win it, and until two other Illinois men, Abraham Lincoln and U.S. Grant, emerged.

The Republican leadership in Washington needs money to win any elections, whether its the ones against conservatives in the primaries and Democrats in the general elections.
That money comes from people who want illegal immigrants “normalized” into the workforce in some way shape or form so they can use the cheap labor.
The RINO’s won’t call it amnesty and will deny it is amnesty but it will accomplish the goal of the business interests that want the labor of the illegals.

Yes they did. But the senate has YET to send that bill to the House. They are moving behind the scenes to get the House to pass a bill and either go to conference or pass the House bill.
Either way, there needs to be another vote in the Senate, and McConnell will be helping Reid and Schumer and McCain every step of the way, while at the same time voting against it.
His votes in 2006 and 2007 attest to the fact that McConnell is for amnesty. But he’s constrained by politics, by his primary and his election. Once he’s free of those, he will betray, betray, betray.
Thats strange because on MSNBC I see many Dems calling on Bohner to just put the Senate bill up for a vote, as does Pelosi on TV.
In fact they recorded a clip of two young illegal adults cornering Bohner in a store asking him to put it up for a vote.
I dont see the House passing anything that Reid would put up for a vote, . Probably wont pass anything, not before the election anyway
They are talking about passing it after the election in a lame duck session. They really think they can get away from the responsibility that way

Yeah, right! Business interests/communists v. everyone else.
I find it incredible for George Will - or any man of his intellectual acumen outside of the State department -to suggest that we compromise by total surrender.
