Either this Pope has bi-polar disorder, or the media are severely fudging the translations of his sentiments.

The media is against him and the message of Christ.

Yes. It’s one or the other

What are the chances David Gregory or Martha radix or the Muslim rag of (NYT) are honest about what it is the Pontiff is trying to communicate to catholics?

Sigh

I was thinking along those lines too. He was sounding like a liberal a few weeks ago, or at least that’s what I thought he said.

Actually, he was a stalwart opponent of “liberation theology” when he was in South America. That was a pretty clear sign that he was not progressive if it involved distorting the teachings of the Church.

Because liberation theology was a pretty big thing in Latin America, and it took a lot of guts to oppose it.

This is the standard modernist tactic.

Feed the conservative pigeons every now and then with some red meat to get them to ignore how he undermines his own faith in other ways.

Stupid conservatives fall for this tactic all the time.

Folks know the press doesn’t always get it right and sometimes doesn’t even try on other matters. Why would anybody ever think it would be any different here?

He is human, and will sometimes say amazing things, and sometimes not so amazing. I have zero doubt that his faith is true and strong, and that he lives by this. You can be all of those things, and still make human error, daily.
