Most, but probably not all, of his negative net worth is owed to his lawyers. Z needs to (1) stay out of trouble and (2) make a deal with a talent on the order of Bill Ayers (but on the opposite side politically) to get his book ghost-written. Then maybe there will be some left over after his debts are repaid.

Mark O’Mara concerned about George Zimmerman

George Zimmerman’s former attorney Mark O’Mara said he thinks Zimmerman’s latest arrest is likely fallout from the Trayvon Martin shooting case. O’Mara said he thinks Zimmerman was a kind person before his murder trial and that his life has unraveled since.
O’Mara spoke to CNN Thursday night for the first time since Zimmerman’s recent arrest. He said he is worried about Zimmerman after his latest domestic violence charges and going as far as saying his former client needs to seek help.
Zimmerman is accused of pulling a shot gun on his girlfriend. Zimmerman claims that didn’t happen.
During the interview O’Mara said Zimmerman suffered trauma during his murder trial but never sought counseling. “I’ve come to have a friendship with George. We spent a lot of time together in the past year and a half and yes I’m worried for him no question. I think he went through an extraordinarily tragic event that lasted 18 months. Those people who want to continue to hate George Zimmerman will see what he’s done since the acquittal as justification, but there is no question about what happened that night back in February 2012 happened because it had to happen and it was justified.”
Zimmerman is being represented by a public defender in his domestic violence case.
O’Mara said he believes most of the $2.5 million in debt that Zimmerman said he has is money that is owed to him and attorney Don West who also represented Zimmerman during his murder trial. O’Mara said he doesn’t expect to see that money now that Zimmerman is in trouble with the law again.
