Canada 'deeply skeptical' about Iran's intentions

Canada is "deeply skeptical" about Iran's intentions, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said on Sunday.

"Every diplomatic [effort] should be taken to ensure that Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon," Baird said.

He added that effective sanctions brought the Iranian regime to its more moderate front, and led to the interim deal signed in Geneva.

Canada will therefore continue to impose its sanctions on the Islamic Republic in full force, Baird said.

"A nuclear Iran is not just a threat to Canada or its allies but it would also seriously damage the integrity of decades of work for nuclear non proliferation. It would provoke other neighboring states to develop their own nuclear deterrent in what is already an incredibly volatile region," he added.

I know it will be bad for American prestige, but I hope the Kerry/Obama "deal" is thrashed by the rest of the non-muslim world and then summarily ignored.

I'm afraid the left in this country needs to be humiliated beyond their ability to survive as a political force if we ever hope to regain our former greatness. Even if it means we all have to take it on the chin.

Some Muslim countries as well. Saudi just called it “incomprehensible”. And what prestige? Like Cheney said “Our friends no longer trust us and our enemies no longer fear us.”

This administration has crapped on every ally, embraced every enemy, and made a real mess of the Middle East.

I listened to John Kerry give his Iran speech, and maybe it really is Kerry's voice, but I can't imagine a more arrogant, condescending, pompous tone without actually intending it. This is the "continuing resolution" of foreign policy....a deal that lasts 6 months and gets renewed?

So, you're in a medieval battle to subdue a castle. You wait months for them finally to run out of supplies and probably sue for peace. One of your wizard leaders strikes a deal: we're giving the enemy 6 months in which they can make no more arrows, but during that time they can resupply their food stores.

The strategery is beyond ridiculous. Re-arm, reconstitute, re-supply.

Vicksburg should have been so lucky. Grant, though, was not incompetent.

Arrogant, condescending, pompous? Kerry? Surely you jest?

The only reasons Kerry-Heinz is Secretary of State is the Democrats wanted him out of the Senate and his wife wanted him out of the country. And some had asked if anyone could be worse than Mrs. Slick Willy .... here’s your answer.

I’d be more worried about Mullah Obama than Iran, were I Canada.

Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird Deeply Skeptical of Iran's Intentions

I'll try to fix the other, too. Thanks.

Canada can survive another three years of Obama, can the US?

They might not know it yet, but this “deal” effectively legitimizes Iran’s nuclear program and will cause a future nuclear arms race in the Middle East.

I doubt it. He did promise change. I just never expected the change to be turning into a banana republic in 5 short years.

I agree. And, no matter what we hear, I don’t trust the Saudis. We know the “Shiites don’t tolerate the sunis” mantra is a pile of Steaming Shiite.

Watch the hand with the knife.

Actually it took him about 5 minutes. Do you remember what happened to the SECURED bondholders of GM and Chrysler? They were raped and robbed and their equity transferred to the UAW. How did that work?

I used to have a customer near by the Tennessee (non union) Saturn plant and drove by it a few times a year. Always booming in an erstwhile rural / low income area of the state.

It was sacrificed at the ORDER of the UAW during the Re-Org. I think it is still idle, 5 years later. Ditto for the workers.

How ‘bout them shovel ready jobs, Barry ??
